  1. Can anyone help me establish the difference between Hydrilla and Milfoil? I've tried looking at photos of it on google/images, but I cant really see the difference. I'm heading to Guntersville next month, and I really need to be able to tell the difference. If you can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
  2. There is a pond near by me that is loaded with 4 and 5 lb bass that are the same way. I have got it down to where I can catch about 30lbs in a few hours out there by bed fishing. What I do is take a 1/2oz white jig with a white paca chunk. I think the color doesn't matter but its easier for me to see. Anyways, place it in their bed, if they don't respond proceed to hop it violently about 1ft off the bottom. This sometimes will provoke an immediate reaction strike, especially if the fish doesn't know that you are there. If that doesn't work, try to get side ways of the fish. Drag the bait into its bed so that the line will drag over his nose, somewhere near his eyes. Swim the jig up and bump him in the side of the face. They can't stand it when it gets close to their eyes like that. Most of the time they will just turn away, make a circle and nose down to the bait. If not keep on doing it. You may have to make as many as 40 or 50 repeated presentations just like this one, but before long that fish will bite and will bite very aggressively. KEY IDEA: LOTS AND LOTS OF REPEATED PRESENTATIONS!!! and every now and then a sudden change of bait can't spark the bite too. Good luck with the fish.
  3. Hey, I'm headed down to Lake Wheeler to prefish for a tournament in June, and I assume that fishing mussel beds is my best chance at doing well. So my question is: Whats the easiest way to find mussel beds? I have a Humminbird SI 997c, but I'm not exactly sure what to look for and I would hate to waste my time staring blindly at the unit. I know it would take to long to start fan casting and dragging a heavy jig to find them. So please help. I'm looking for any advice I can get. Thanks all -Wil
  4. Is there anyone that can give me some info on catching some Largemouth down at Ochechobee. I've only fished Barkley and kentucky Lakes in my life, so I only know how to fish ledges mainly. I really know absolutley nothing at all about this lake so any info would be greatly appreciated. I'll be fishing the FLW College Bass Fishing Qualifier there at the end of February. All I know is that I'm going out of the Roland Martin Marina and that the lake is known for BIG bass. I noticed that most of the fishing done there is with Live Wild Shiners, which I dont' know what they look like. And I've heard mentioned something called the monkey box. What is that? Also I heard something about the rim canal or something like that. They said that it was deep and was a good place to find bass. I'm coming down to fish this tournament without practice, so I'm just trying to develop a solid strategy before I head that way. I really need a limit of fish. BAD. If any one has any surefire tactics for getting a limit of decent fish in the boat, PLEASE let me know. Thanks a lot everyone. I really need the help!
