  1. I don't get the hype of a brush tail on either bait mentioned. From expensive glides and swims to the Chad Shad, even now BPS Swerve Glide bait and wake baits are having brush tails. Is a brush tail more aesthics and just to drive the price on a glide/swim bait? I'm quite fine with a plastic tail, as long as the tail can be replaced. It seems a brush tail will wear and fall off faster than a plastic tail.
  2. I have a Megabass Great Hunting Huntsman BFS taste, but have an Aliexpress BFS budget.πŸ’―πŸ‘ I've been eyeing the Aioushi drop handle glass rod since getting my 23 Shimano Calcutta Conquest BFS reel beginning of this year. Yes the Calcutta Conquest is a lower profile round reel than say an old Abu Garcia 4601. I've used my Calcutta Conquest BFS reel on my other rods and it sits good on the reel seats of other BFS rods I own and palms good. The Aioushi glass rod has intrigued me for some time and finally pulled the trigger during the 11/11 Aliexpress sale. I received the Aioushi glass rod today and surprised how well crafted this rod is. The reel handle is real wood and the drop reel seat is quite artistic. It has a 14mm drop for the reel seat and is 1.45m(4.8') assembled length. It is 5 sections fiberglass rod and when broken down it is 39cm(1.3') length. It comes with a nice, sturdy rod case. Lure weight is 1 to 5g(1/32 to 3/16 oz). For a CDM glass rod, this is very nice! It's a beautiful glass rod with avocado green glass blank. Nice contrast to the dark gray reel seat. The glass rod blank is quite straight and the guides are perfect, when all 5 parts aligned assembled. I mounted my Shimano Calcutta Conquest BFS reel on the Aioushi rod and the reel feels low profile to me. Also tried my Loongze Airlite B101 BFS reel and Ifishband Tender Shoot round BFS reel. All 3 round reels feels low profile on the drop reel seat while the Tender Shoot being a bit taller in feel. The Tender Shoot height reminds me of the Abu Garcia 4601 round reel in feel. The Airlite B101 is the lightest round reel I own and it feels small on the Aioushi rod. All 3 BFS round reels paired with the Aioushi glass rod look stunning and has a premium look to me. I reckon the Megabass Great Hunting Huntsman with its raised handle grip will give the same effect as a round BFS reel sits lower when palming the reel. Looking forward trying the Aioushi glass rod with the Calcutta Conquest BFS mounted tomorrow for its maiden casting session.πŸŽ£πŸ’― Man, have I ever gone deep down the BFS rabbit hole!πŸ‡πŸ•³πŸ˜²πŸ˜³
  3. Cast_by_fly, do have a link for the Falcon Cara BFS rod?
  4. Curado rod in 7'3" MH or Heavy. Checks off all the boxes for you. And it's a perfect match!
  5. Izorline XXX 4lb line is real good stuff
  6. Thank you RW, gonna miss you on here. I'll always remember..."good night Irene..."
  7. I bought a jar of U40 cork sealant. What is your method to clean cork grips on your fishing rods? And what's the best way to apply U40?
  8. Thanks MN Fisher, I'm going with magnesium for the body of both Aldebaran mentioned. Both are very light in weight, I reckon it can't be aluminum.
  9. I'm confused what the frame material is on the 2018 Aldebaran MGL and 2022 Aldebaran BFS. I thought the frames were made of magnesium, but all I can find is Hagane, which to me doesn't mean anything than an aluminum frame. Anyone chime in what the frame material is for both reels?
  10. Top from left to right: Shimano Calcutta TE 101GT, Shimano Calcutta 51B and Shimano Cardiff 101 Middle: 23 Shimano Calcutta Conquest BFS XG Bottom from left to right: Loongze Airlite B101 BFS Ifishband Tender Shoot Kawa Sabre JKS 51 Handle mods to the Calcutta TE 101GT, Calcutta Conquest BFS, Tender Shoot and Sabre JKS 51. The Calcutta 51B is kinda, sorta BFS. That I have 80% filled 65lb braided line and top shot of 15lb Power Pro braid. It does good with 5.3g(3/16oz) lures. Trying anything lower and it's a challenge and wants to cast left. Hard to find a shallow spool for the Calcutta 51B. So a Jimmy Rig shallow spool.
  11. 70diesel, thank you for your reply. I was actually asking cuz I ended up ordering a drag clicker kit for my Aldebaran MGL 51. I wasn't sure if the 50/51 and 30/31 frames were the same or different. I'm using my Aldebaran MGL 51 more for BFS fishing.
  12. Walmart has 90% and 100% alcohol
  13. What is the difference from the Aldebaran MGL 50/51 and Aldebaran MGL 30/31? Are they the same reel but one is USDM and the other is JDM?
  14. Do you have a link please?
  15. I think I know why the braided line dig in the spool. Seems like you are spooling braided line to max spool amount. Don't spool the braid to the max, but 1/2 to 3/4 spooled. I had the same issue with my Curado BFS reel and from a BFS FB site found out that less is more when it comes to spooling with braided line. I've used 15 lb Power Pro and 10 lb Power Pro in original and Super8Slick, 8 strand. and Bass Pro Shops XPS 8 strand. I do notice that the the 8 strand braid is quieter when reeling in than original Power Pro 4 strand.
  16. Alonerankin2, yes I'll be using the stealthy Aldeberan MGL 51 this coming week.
  17. I bought a used Shimano Aldeberan MGL 51, 6.5:1 a few weeks ago. It did have a few scratches on the frame and it bothered me. I asked about decals for the Aldeberan MGL 51 and Wanee's was suggested for casting reel decals. I contacted Wanee's and saw they still had the graphite design decal for the Aldeberan MGL 51. Had time today to apply the Wanee's decal this afternoon. Took my time to prep the reel, wiped down with 90% rubbing alcohol and then apply the decals to the correct areas on the reel. The outcome after applying turned out better than I thought. The kit did have a diagram to follow and actual pics of where the decals were to be placed and that helped big time. Instructions mentioned to wait 24 hours to use the reel. So I'll be giving it a few days for the decals to cure and hold onto the surface of the Aldeberan MGL 51. Now the Aldeberan MGL 51 looks great and feels great with the decal installation. Doesn't seem to have added extra weight to the reel, that's good! Also the graphite handle and EVA knobs that I replaced the stock handle, looks perfect and matches the decal kit. Now, if I can find a drag clicker for the Aldeberan MGL 51...
  18. Starting to see this type of tail on Swimbaits from inexpensive to pricey SB's. Besides the price being jacked up for I guess a custom look, what is the advantage? I don't care for that type of tail cuz I would need to store the SB in a way not to damage or bend the paint brush tail.
  19. Thanks Bates, the Hundo is a Legit baitcaster! Beyond happy with my purchase! Do you or will you offer options for different reel handles and or grips? Not a fan of the grips on the Hundo.
  20. JN94, ya I'm not a fan of the grip handles myself. I'm hoping Bates comes out with other handle and grip options. Lightest I've casted with the Bates is 3/8oz lures. I have 30lb Power Pro Super8Slick braid spooled. I also own the Loongze Airlite BFS B101 round reel. The spools on both reels are interchangeable, so can I am going to try to use the Hundo for BFS fishing soon.
  21. I had the Hundo for a couple months now and used it a few times. This reel is 5oz and even though it's new to the baitcast game, it's a solid performer. It's smooth like butta and has all the bells and whistles like 1 piece bar stock aluminum frame, magnetic and inner braking, also a drag clicker. Casted around with a Spro Baby Fat John 50 shallow crankbait. Did a cast and felt a THUMP! First I thought I snagged the bottom, but then I felt head shaking and realized it's a bass. I have to say, that bass hit the crankbait like a freight train! Set the hook and bass took off for deeper water, the Hundo's drag clicker was a screamin'! Fought the bass and it kept pulling line, finally got it close to shore and saw it was a big bass. Horsed her in and my heart was a thumpin'! She a big-un and beautiful! Been using the Hundo for a few times, got the feel for the reel and it kicks butt fighting that bass. That is one solid baistcaster! That bass is the first bass caught on the Hundo, what a great way to break in that reel! Took my pics, weighed her and she tipped at 6 1/2lbs. Biggest bass caught so far this year. I released her and she swam off, a bit tired though. I realized she's a prego female and I have to tell you, she wore me out. Oh, that sounded nasty 😯😳🀭🀭🀭
  22. Hi Volfan, ah ok, I see where you're getting at. I'll give it a shot. Thank you
  23. Bought a couple of the Nessie 5" in a couple colors for power BFS fishing. I haven't used them yet, but I hear they are slow sinking. I'd like to rig one up to sink just a bit faster and thinking of using a 1/16oz tungsten nail weight. Where I'm perplexed with the nail weight is the location I should insert nail weight. I'd prefer a nose down or horizontal fall, just not sure on the Nessie 5" body to place the nail weight. Any ideas or thoughts on this dilemma?
  24. I've had the double Mcfish fillets before when McD's first introduced them a few years ago. I have to say, I really liked the double Mcfish, more to bite in and all that oil...πŸ˜‰ I can't afford a double Mcfish these days, even if it's a secret menu item. I'd have to mortgage my house and sell my wife to get one. Or was it mortgage my wife and sell the house?πŸ˜‰πŸ˜πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„
