  1. Been two years since I've posted on here or even accessed the site probably. I've really gotten away from fishing in those couple years. Working two jobs, and the gym pretty much took everything up. Gone fishing maybe 10-12 times in the past two years, and ended up selling a lot of gear since I didn't go very much. I REALLY REALLY REGRET IT. Some y'all may remember me from the Guntersville 2012 road trip, I was the fat kid. Coming back on here and reading posts really helped me remember how special this place is. Plan on getting a lot more fishing in this year and I hope I can become a productive member of this forum again!
  2. CAD designer, its not my dream job, but the opportunity to have all my education paid for and a guaranteed job after school was too good to pass up. I do like making things and seeing them built on the shop floor, and working in an office saves me from doing to much physical labor and wearing my body out from work, and instead get to smash weights in the gym.
  3. Any tips on Kensington from shore? Fished the deep water by the west boat launch on my lunch monday and only had a wee pike.
  4. Been working out for about 2 years now, started with bodybuilding type stuff and now I've moved on to mainly strength. DL-445 Squat-335 Bench-205 Chasing the 1000lb total right now. Anybody else?
  5. Howdy, been a while. But last time I was really active I liked most of y'all so I decided to grace you with my presence again. I got real lucky and got into an apprenticeship program for product design engineering in a part of the automotive industry here in Michigan. It's not what I thought I'd be doing (I decided against professional fishing because I'm sure I'd win so much people would start to hate), but I do enjoy working on CAD and making things. Down the road in 10-20 years, I'm not sure if it's still what I'll want to be doing, or if I'll have moved on. So just for SnGs.... Did you make a big career change, or do something completely different than what you went to school for?
  6. Split shot rig. If I'm really desperate I use Mepps #3 spinner in white
  7. Weightless obviously is the popular choice but I like using a weighted hook, 1/8-3/8 depending on the speed I want to work it. The weighted hook keeps it from diving straight down (what you would get from t-rigging), and makes it swirl down. And pearl is the only color you need. And some jj's chartreuse dye for the tail.
  8. Lucky craft makes excellent baits, but you're going to pay for it. The x-rap by rapala is also nice. Strike king is decent too. Buy a few different brands, see what ya like. These "What are the best (insert type of lure)" threads are hard to answer because there is no BEST lure.
  9. We got some areas open around lake st clair but doesn't matter since the dang season aint open.
  10. You want something to hold the spoons individually like the spinnerbait ones do? Otherwise, why not use normal 3600 boxes?
  11. Have not really used pure flurocarbon but i do like P-line fluroclear. Nice castability, knot strength, and sensitivity, and decently priced. 8lb on your spinning rod and 15 for your baitcaster. As for a leader on braid...When i do throw it on my spinning rod when i need some strength/sensitivity. I don't use a leader, and I fish Lake. St Clair where water is nice and clear. Only thing id see a leader being useful for is if you want some shock absorption. Otherwise its a pain in the butt having 1 rod with a leader and changing baits every once in a while and having to add a new leader when it gets too short.
  12. With the bluebird skies, probably would have tried downsizing, and fished a little slower and tighter to cover.
  13. I've done well rigging it flat, making it hop a foot or two off the bottom and letting it settle back down.
  14. Rage tail craw in the Bama craw color. I suggest getting some weighted swimbait hooks too. This is one of my top rigs and usually always give it a try. Just about any Rage tail bait works on aa weighted swimbait hook
  15. muddy, cold, water....3/8oz white or chartreuse (or both) with a big colorado blade, fish it niiiiiceeee and slowwwwww
  16. Always put all my snack wrappers and any bottle i have back into my backpack. And, Im always able to find some discarded line laying around. There are even specific line receptacles along the shore at one of my favorite spots.
  17. The question about what i call the night before Halloween, I answered devils night, the map showing what are you're most similar too, ONLY Michigan was red, everywhere else was blue.....had no idea.
  18. My New Years resolution? Well after the night I had.... Disregard females...acquire aesthetics.
  19. I'm so happy I logged on today. I had an amazing time at Guntersville. I'm hoping I can make this trip. Alabama was such a great place and I look forward to going back!
  20. I have a couple of friends that have some pretty impressive beards and with their encouragement, I decided to get a head start and unleash my facial hairs full potential, in mid October. Unfortunately there was not much potential to be released and gave up about a week ago :/. Good luck to those still growing. I found this the other day though.....Look at the guy in the back, with the beard.... http://i.imgur.com/h5WuF5W.gif
  21. That's neat. Never even seen those before. Would be nice to have walking around campus during this winter season. Perhaps you could McGyver your own?
  22. Amazing pictures Chris!
  23. My phone keeps saying my ios6 software is up to date....I'll give it a couple days.
  24. Never thought about tetanus shots. I know i had all my shots in school and what not, do ya need to get them again and again? I've pricked myself with so many hooks.....
  25. You only need 3 lures at night. 1. Black Jitterbug 2. Black Jitterbug 3. BLACK JITTERBUG
