Hey guys, I just got a lowrance x-4 elite and installed it on my 10 foot plastic pontoon. What should I have my setting at (surface clarity, sensitivity, colorline, ggrayline, frequency, ping speed, chart speed, surface clarity, and noise rejection)? Thanks.
You cant go wrong with either the St. Croix AVC66MF or the Shimano Crucial Topwater 6'8" M MF. both are great rods and are also good a choice for jerkbaits
I love the reel for the most part, very smooth, great casting distance, but whenever i have a fish on, even with the drag turned up, i will be reeling and the spool will stop moving momentary, then just pick back up. I was messing around with it the other day when i had a fish on, and the handle turned backwards (it only did it once). So am I dealing with a faulty anti-reverse bearing? A faulty drag? Both? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Alot of people will also put a red treble hook on the front because they think it helps the bass eat the whole bait better. I do it on my shallow cranks.
yes! its very important for those tough times when you need to use light line and light baits. a spinning set up is so much easier to cast light lures than a baitcaster. i also like using a spinning set up for senkos in open water so you can prevent birds nests that you would get with a casting reel when the senko flies off (it will happen).
Poppers and spook jr.- Shimano Crucial Topwater 6'8" M MF (great for lighter jerkbaits too)
Buzzbaits & big spooks- Quantum Tour Edition 6'6" MH F
Frogs- Grandt Rods All American Pro 7' H F (feel more like an XH)
I already used the search and couldnt find a whole lot. I know alot of guys like using a crankbait rod for spinnerbaits, but the I hear of people using f and xf actions. What to you guys prefer, and why?
yeah thats exaclty what i figured but it seemed like to me the F would be able to cast senkos a little better. and yeah i am looking for a rod for those 3, im a broke college kid so i have to adapt lol.
Hey guys I have narrowed (kind of lol) my choices down to a few and would love to have some input from you. I am considering the following:
Powell Endurance 7'2" MH XF
Phenix Recon 7'1" MH F
Dobyn's Savvy 7' MH F
Cashion 7' MH F
Big Bear 2012 7' MH F
Shimano Crucial 7'2 MH F or XF (have held both, the XF seems like it would have too stiff of a tip to throw senkos without tons of cast offs, but open to opinions)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
On a few of my b/c's, if I am reeling on then suddenly stop the spool will keep spinning for just a little bit and make a wierd noise like something in the gears? How do I fix this?
