  1. The Bargain Cave is were I have gotten most of my deals from Cabelas. Either online or in the store
  2. Only other place you might find them cheaper is on Ebay. BPS was clearing them out but they were slightly. I see Cabelas has last years Tour Edition for $119 and haven't seen those any chearper anyplace
  3. I haven't used a President but I do have the Sahara 1000FD and its a great little reel.
  4. Nice looking fish
  5. I have an older model Quantum Incyte 30, a Quantum Catalyst PTI-A20 and the New Kinetic PTI-B20 and haven't had any problems with them at all. The Incyte is actually an older model that is Blue and not the newer silver one. The one complaint I have heard is the weight difference and that the Quantums are heavier than the shimanos and other reels. So the new models are much lighter but I still love my older models.
  6. Since you are going to be practicing get a "pick" and get the backlash out by finding the loop amongst the backlash. Once you work the backlash out keep practicing with that line and then respool when you get better at controlling it. JMO and the more experienced guys will jump in I'm sure
  7. There is another trick you can try as well and something I have seen or heard mentioned. Spool off 15-20yards and then apply a piece of tape to the spool and that way if you do backlash it won't go any further than the tape and continue to practice
  8. Thinking of getting one of these to use as a crankbait round with a Quantum Catalyst. Do you guys think the 7 M would work for this?
  9. I got the same bag at Wal Mart and it was the last one left with no pricing info so the sales clerk gave me the bag for $9 which was the clearance price of the smaller Okeechobee bag also on clearance. The smaller bag had 5 trays. Seems Wal Mart switched to another bag line and was clearing the Okeechobee bags out.
  10. I have the Megaforce and its a pretty decent reel and worked pretty well the couple of times I've had it out and probably can find it on ebay in that price range. The Daiwa Exceler was rated as a pretty good reel in a issue of Bass Master awhile back
  11. I just got this same bag on clearance at Wal Mart for $9 since it was the last one and was missing the tag the sales clerk gave it to me for the clearance price of the smaller bag by Okeechobee which is Reddish in color. The clearance price was $21 and I'm able to store everything I have for now in its own box..lipless,shallow,medium cranks and things.
  12. Just picked one up yesterday from BPS after trading the Quantum KVD in that I picked up during the BPS Classic reel trade in last month. The KVD gearing just wasn't as smooth even with the 10 vs 6 bearings in the Kinetic. Had it out yesterday for a bit as well and it felt butter smooth as well as a couple oz's ligher than the KVD. Anyone else have the new Kinetic?
  13. My stuff is less than $200 but store brands High End Spinning: Cabelax XMLti and XML Casting: Cabelas XMLTi Inexpensive Spinning: Cabelas Tourney Trial Casting: Cabelas Fish Eagle II
  14. I was thinking the same thing with the Catalyst Spinning reel on a Carrot Stix and maybe thinking about still going with that option
  15. I have a Megaforce and just got a Accurist PT and it has seen more time than the Megaforce and its a very smooth reel.
  16. This is a great reel and haven't had any problems with mine other than the same hard switching from regular to flipping mode which when I worked a bit did get easier. There is a review of the Accurist CX II on http://tackletour.com and this is a step up from that reel. Love mine and got it off ebay for a bigger discount.
  17. Just getting over the winter thaw here and I have a football head jig on my B/C and on the spinning outfit I have a Strike King Red Eye lipless / rattle trap.
  18. I have braid on 2 spinning reels and use them both with no leader but I also only use them for moving lures. The rig with the green power line pro seems to get more hookups than my right with the Fireline Crystal.
  19. I pretty much use them during the late spring and all summer info the fall. I've had success mainly with the Strike King Red Eye lipless in a number of colors.
  20. I found them on ebay between $10-$15 with free shipping and ordered a SD Shad just to try it out when it gets a little warmer here in IL.
  21. I agree x2 Those shads will get destroyed. Plus it works like a weedless buzzbait. Worth a try for sure. Gonna give them a try this evening after work and see if I have any luck at all
  22. Just purchased the Shad and Chunks myself to use around grass beds and as a jig trailer. The water is just starting to thaw out and can't wait to try them. The website mentioned also has plenty of rigging info and ideas for each one of the products in the lineup.
  23. It's my favorite cause its my only 7.1 reel and its the Daiwa Megaforce
  24. Had the same problem with some Ultra Soft I had spooled on a spinning reel and the KVD line conditioner really does help
  25. I think I went to big with the 10# line and should have gone with the 6 or 8# line like RW suggested
