  1. Great reel I purchased one off ebay for $60 and it's my go to BC and bumped my Quantum Accurist down to my second BC. I have it paired with a Cabelas XMLTi 6.5" MH rod
  2. My vote is for the Quantum reel. I have a Shimano Sahara and it's a great reel but compared to my Quantum Kinetic PTI-B the Quantum is a better reel JMO. It's every bit as smooth and one of my go to reels after my Quantum Catalyst PTI-A Quantum
  3. Here is a link that might help you with the Toad http://www.ragetail.com/news/rage-toad-rigging/ My favorite hooks are 5/0 EGW Superline Gammy and a 6/0 Owners Twistlock. Big O www.ragetail.com Thanks BIg O for the rigging info and that only happened with the Green Pumpkin for some reason but the Green Pumpkin/Pearl ran perfect but I will double check my rigging and hit the water with both again this weekend
  4. I just picked up the frogs in the Green Pumpkin and Green Pumpkin and Pearl but haven't had any success with them just yet. I do have the Chunks in Blue and Green and have had lots of success with those as swim jig trailers I also have the Craws in Black/red flake and Blue but have really had those out of the package cause of all the success witht he chunks. I love the action of all the lures but did have trouble getting the Green pumpkin frog to run upright with the hook down in the water. The Green Pumpkin/Pearl ran great out of the package and is the first thing out on my next outing. I use them with a 4/0 or 5/0 EWG hook also
  5. Glad u asked this question cause I had a day of missing 8-9 fish cause I wasn't able to hook up not one fish. Just starting to fish frogs myself and I appreciate the answers as well cause I was so used to a crankbait hookset and now will wait til I feel the wait of the fish instead of snatching it out of there mouth.
  6. I had the same problem with a Strike King 1xs crankbait and the lure was about a year old and had 5-6 fish get off in one morning outing. I changed out the hooks and also purchased a couple more of the lures. I changed the rear trebles on all of them with 1 white dressed treble, a red dressed treble and and also added red and white suresets to 2 other lures. Today the sureset red treble on the same lure caught me my personal best of 3lbs. I use a Berkley Amp rod 7 ft rod with 6lb P-Line CXX Crystal Blue
  7. My favorites have been either a Shallow or Medium diving crankbait. This year I think the Rage Tail plastics will become my favorite with most of my catches so far being on a swim jig/chunk and other products getting a plenty of use as we get consistent weather.
  8. Glad to say I jumped on board starting with the Rage Tail Chunks and Shad. I tried the Shad out and love the action but now hits but the water temps were still low when I tried it out. Next trip out I tried the Rage Chunks on a Stike King KVD Swim Jig and and 7 quick hits and my personal best of 2.5lbs so far. I love the action and now I've added the Rage Craws to my arsenal and last night I added the Rage Toads as well. So far the Blue has been my most productive in the Chunks but have the Green Pumpkin in the rest and for the Toads I with with the Green Pumpkin and Chartreuse and the Green Pumpkin and White and they will both get some use over the weekend. Great baits and love the action of them all
  9. Well, this kind of highlights the way a lot of people view Quantum: Disposable Reels. I think someone mention that pflueger did the same thing at one point
  10. Welcome to the site
  11. I agree and only primarily fish Quantum spinning and now baitcasting. I do have a couple of Diawa reels and even a Shimano but my Quantums see the most water time. I haven't had problems with CS since when I have a problem I take the reel into my local shop and they send it into Quantum for repairs. That being said I purchased 3 reels off ebay which were in need of repairs, a Quantum Incyte spinning reel, a Quantum Accurist PT B/C and a Quantum Energy B/C. I took them in to the local shop and they sent them off to Quantum and 7-10 days later I had 3 New reels. I didn't mind at all that they sent new reels instead of making repairs. I haven't had a problem ordering parts i.e. handles and things. So I guess it is to each his own but I do enjoy my Quantum products
  12. I have one of last years Energy's and its a great reel. Can't speak on the Curado since I've never handled it so ....ENERGY...for me
  13. Great Looking rod and sure he will love it and thanks for sharing the pics
  14. NIce work on them all
  15. Try this site and they also have a catalog http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/ good luck
  16. I haven't had any success with the lure either but maybe its time to give it another chance over the grass in the shallows...
  17. RW is right, I did the same thing getting the 10# and it kept looping off and getting twist in the line on my 20 series reel. I stepped down to the 6# after a RW post and used the KVD and its fine. I saved whats left of the 10# for my B/C. I also fish alot of park ponds/lakes but not as many rocky areas.
  18. Nice fish and great story
  19. I agree with RW and the other guys. I like Quanutm reels but the Shimano Symetre is a great reel in either the 2500 or 3000 series. Very light reels and very very smooth. Since you are near a BPS I'm sure they have combos on sale all the time or you can even create a combo and see if they can give you a deal. There are also the in store deals which you can only get by going into the store. I also agree on getting the bag from Wal Mart. I have a couple of okeechobee bags I got from Wal Mart on clearance for less than $20. Good luck and the guys here give great advice and welcome to the board.
  20. I haven't had any break on me either but have heard of them having this problem
  21. Strke King Series 1 and Cabelas Shallow diving cranks
  22. Great crankbait and very close to the LC and great right out of the package
  23. I've handled the "shock" and it felt pretty good and the "amp" is the $29 rod and I actually have one I use as my crankbait rod and its been pretty successful for me so fat this season. The shock is either just under $50 or just over $50 and a braid specific rod and still thinking of getting one for myself
  24. That is a great looking rod and d**n good work and makes me wish I was that talented and thanks for sharing
  25. Right now its the Strike King KVD swim jig 3/8 oz. in Black/Blue with the rage tail chunk in black/blue flake. The retrieve depends on the cover and I have crawled it along the bottom. Hopped it in the rocks and vary swimming it thru light cover. Depends on what the fish are hitting and seems to work best hopped along the rocks for me
