  1. I don't have one but have thought of purchasing one and let us know how it feels after you have had some time on the water with it.
  2. I have a Quantum Energy PT (08) that did pretty well my first time trying a light lure which was just a unweighted Berkley 10" worm. I read the Quantum Energy PT (09) models are pretty good also and light lures
  3. Thanks for the replies guys and I'll try it and see how it works and keep my eye on the tip and see if its shows any signs of grooves.
  4. You might want to try the Cabelas Prodigy which is made by Daiwa and on clearance at Cabelas for $60
  5. Anyone using Braid with the Berkley Amp Spinning Rod? Trying to find out if it will effect the guides in any way before switching over to Berkley Fireline.
  6. If its a spinning reel you looking for try ebay and find one of last years Quantum Catalyst PTI-A reels in the size of your choice. I think I paid around $30 for mine off ebay. For B/C you can try to find the Quantum Accurist or Accurist PT on ebay as well and some pretty good deals on both reels and they should be less than $60
  7. I had a similar incident happen with an XML rod happen when I got a lure stuck in a wood piling and instead of just popping the line I tried to use the rod to snap the line. That was a big mistake cause the rod snapped about 3/4 down from the tip. I went into Cabelas and explained to a sales rep what happened (my fault also) he told me to bring it in and they exchanged it no problem. CS just told me to find another one and bring it back to the desk for a even exchange. They have great CS and much more careful with the rods now.
  8. Your setups sound good but I think you need to upgrade your rods. I'm not a big fan of the ugly stick either and I have the same Quantum Accurist mounted on a Cabelas XML 6'6" R&J rod with with Berkley Fireline 30# 12 Braid. I got the rod when Cabelas was having a sale on them and paid $32 with shipping to the store.
  9. I have one of the Casting models and 4 of the Spinning models and I haven't had that problem with any of them. Like the others have said give them a call and see what they say.
  10. Nice review of the casting model and I have the spinning model MGTS664-2 Medium and it is a great rod. I haven't had a problem with it slipping from my hands at all. I agree for the $55 I paid for it off ebay its worth it and worth the $99MSRP also.
  11. The New Accurist isn't bad and is 8.1oz and only $99.99 on Cabelas site but probably not in yet since its a new model
  12. I checked them out also and I think in ultra clear water they would be great but most of the lakes I fish are stained but his detail attention is great,.
  13. I have the spro popper and the lure pretty much is like any other topwater popper style bait, I've only had it on the water once but no success with it so far.
  14. I agree all braids pretty much make that sound and thought I was tearing up my equipment as well but once I got used to the sound I don't even notice it anymore. I use Cabelas XML riods primarily and have been using the new Berkley Fireline Braid and barely even notice the sound now.
  15. Thanks Dan and yeah it did have water in it so I'll have to make sure it doesn't when I'm out with it next time.
  16. I have a couple of the Spro JR in the Black/Yellow, Brown and the green and yellow. I'm fishing them on a 6'6" XML MH with 30# Fireline Smoke. I keep having trouble getting hook ups though. Last time out I actually watch the fish take it on a meduim retrieve and take it under and felt the weight of the fish but when I set the hook I just got my lure back. Should I have waited longer or did I wait too long? (not trying to jack the thread but its the same frog)
  17. I say go with the order you have them in also. I have the (2)Sahara 1000 and although its made from graphite its a great reel even though its a bit small for my taste. If I was in the market to purchase another spinning reel the (1)Symetre would be my next choice and not partcularly fond of the (3)Sedona.
  18. Nice looking rod and within my budget if I was looking for a cranking rod
  19. I have to agree with the Prodigy feeling a little flimsy when I tried them out in the store myself.
  20. Got a link? I could only find it for $139.98. Here's the link on the Cabelas site http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0057243122701a&navCount=1&podId=0057243&parentId=cat601359&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat21404-cat21406-cat601359&catalogCode=OG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601359&hasJS=true
  21. Yeah the XML's were a good deal when there were on sale but you might think about these also. http://www.***.com/descpageCRODDAM-DEXC.html They look pretty good but haven't tried one myself but they are 2pc rods
  22. Nice rod and that would look great with my Quantum Energy
  23. I have the Prodigy BC reel and really like it and was going to sell it in the flea market but had second thoughts. My reel has performed great for me since it was my second BC. I haven't tried to cast anything to light on it like shallow cranks but for everything else it works just fine. I haven't had a problem with the bearings or anything and since it's made by Daiwa I think that makes its even better.
  24. My BC's are all left hand retrieve with the rod held in my right hand
