  1. I love my Cabelas rods and its pretty much all I have fished with a few exceptions. Looking to get myself either a Kistler or a Quantum rod for the upcoming season.
  2. Great selection of Reels and just missing a Tour from my collection
  3. Quantum is my favorite company with 3 of my 4 Baitcasters being Quantum. On the Spinning side I have 4 of my 6 setups with Quantum reels. I do own a Shimano Sahara and BPS Viper with the Shimano getting its fair share of work and the BPS reel will be a trade in to BPS in a couple weeks
  4. I don't have one but BassMaster did a write on them a while back and rated them as one of the better reels in that price range for both the Spinning and Baitcast models. The article was in a late last year magazine
  5. don't tell every one, that just makes for more bidding competition. I too have gotten great deals from them, we probably have bid against each other. I have gotten a Patriarch, 2 Sols, Energy, Zillion, and 2 or 3 curados from them. Always honest about the reel integrity and try there best to represent any imperfections of used reels. True I guess I shouldn't let the cat completely out the bag and yeah we probably have bid against one another
  6. I have purchased most of my reels off ebay with no problems at all. Wild West Bargains has been the seller I have purchased my Quantum Accurist PT BC, Quantum Catalyst PTI-A20, Quantum Energy BC and Quantum Incyte (2) with no problems at all. Other reels I have purchased were the Quantum Catalyst PTI-B20 which was a display model for $50 but came with everything. Never had a Bad reel purchase and if in doubt ask the seller plenty of questions about the item and your possible purchase.
  7. I have the Shimano Sahara and it's a very good reel and I also have the New(as of last year) Quantum Catalyst PTI-B20. I haven't fished the Quantum the the Sahara held it's own for a year of fishing and is a great reel in the under $100 range. The Symetre is also a great value as well. My brother has the Soron and loves it
  8. Great Recommendations RW, I opted for the Shimano Sahara 1000 when I made a Shimano purchase and it's a great reel.
  9. Guess his signature series rods will be on clearance at alot of places and especially on ebay. He's a good guy and maybe a little crazy at times but seems to be a big boost for Abu
  10. I think you are right on as far as the price ranges and trade in value. I know the BPS here was only taking reels in working order also at one time. You bring the reel in and they give you a voucher that you present once you go to check out to get your discount. I did it last year and may trade up again this year for a new reel.
  11. When I purchased my first baitcaster it was a right handed model and it felt awkward using it when all my spinning reels I use I reel in left handed and hold the rod in my right. I sold it and now all my Baitcasters are left handed. It works for me just fine and I guess starting to fish as more left handed models come onto the market is a good thing.
  12. I've heard some good things about them too...Anyone else use this reel? I've used this reel and never had a problem with it at all. It has my vote
  13. I fish from the bank also and carry 2-3 setups with me and a shoulder bag with all my gear. I have 10 different rod and reel setups and which ones I take usually depends on the lakes I'm fishing at during the day. Since I fish with my brothers we hit 2-3 lakes a day when we are out fishing. I have a 6'6" M/MF crankbait setup that always goes with me. I also have a 7' ML/Fast setup and I also take along either a 6'6" MH or 7'MH BC setup. Those three setup pretty much cover everything I might throw for the day.l The one constant is the crankbait setup since I tend to start with those and throw those the most. The other setups change in and out.
  14. Crank bait rod. Their cheap. Did I mention they are cheap , good enough for cranks and nothing else. I agree they are good enough for cranks and cheap
  15. I have a couple and used one as a crankbait rod and I've had some hookup problems but not blaming that on the rod. I have heard the lock ring on the reel seat can break if it is over tightened because it is plastic. I've also heard it tends to back off or loosen at times during a fight with a fish. I haven't had either of those problems since I read about it before mounting the reel. As a crankbait rod it did work well and used both lipless and lipped cranks with it(shallow and medium divers).
  16. I don't have any experience with AllStar rods but have been looking and considering purchashing one. Both the models you mentioned ASR 815C & 865C are on ebay being clearanced out by one of the sellers for $49.98 + $18 S&H which isn't too bad. Thinking of picking up the ASR865C myself as a Christmas present..
  17. My cranking rod setup is the least expensive setup I have and its a BPS Viper reel paired with a Daiwa D-Force 6'6" 2 pc spinning setup. It's worked fine for everything from Mann's Wake Bait Cranks to Med Diving Crankbait lures. Yeah the rod may be a bit on the Heavy side and so is the reel compared to some of the setups I've seen mentioned but it works great. Of the rods you mentioned I would love to try the Cumara myself.
  18. The Quantum Accurist and Accurist PT both have the flipping switch. Last years models are pretty cheap on Ebay for both and if you use a lefty reel Quantum has them pretty cheap on their website as well
  19. The Prodigy rod does sell for $100 and going to purchase one for myself. I have Cabelas XMLTi,XML,MagTouch and Fish Eagle II rods and haven't had a problem with any. Some might say they are a bit tip heavy but they work fine for me in each application. They also have a great warranty so I would say it's a good deal
  20. Great catch and yeah she does have that I'm not touching it look on her face also and Congrats to her.
  21. Here is another link for the rods: http://www.histackleboxshop.com/Lamiglas-Excel-Bass-Fishing-Rods-s/2040.htm
  22. Great Job Connor and he looks like he's hooked just like my son is now
  23. Thanks Guys and thanks Larry and yeah he does enjoy fishing now and he will be getting a new reel for X-mas I'm thinking. Larry I also know what you mean about them running away from the fish. His first bluegill he actually caught was with alot of help from me and when I asked him to hold the fish it flaired its upper fin and he got stuck and wouldn't hold any other fish. This was the first time he actually held the fish and did all the work himself. Congrats to all the fathers, uncles, moms, big brothers and sisters and anyone else who introduces a kid to fishing. It's a great bonding time and they love it after getting that first one hooked cause then they are hooked.
  24. The Saros is a great reel and tried it out before I ended up getting the Sahara.
  25. Great Fish and in mid november makes it a even better catch
