I guess this is a good thing since it didn't seem at least the me that ESPN was really supporting BASS but I guess it was a viewership thing along with advertising dollars. After letting go of the Ladies BASS which is now coming back under the LBAA (I believe) it's a good thing all the way around.

Better: My season has been pretty good so far with more fish and bigger fish with me catching my personal best this year.
Reason:Learning to read the water a little better and actually using some of the other baits and lures I have in my tackle box instead of just crankbaits mostly.
Congrats to KVD and true the new format might suck but didn't Gerald Swindle win AOY without winning a tourney under the old format...
Don't think too many were happy with that either.
I have several of the XML spinning models and would go with the XML that best suits what you are thinking of fishing. I don't have a Prodigy spinning but do have one MH/MF casting rods that I use for cranking and its a good rod and even better at the sale price.
I purchased one from Cabelas recently but won't hit the water with it til tomorrow. I purchased the shallow 4-5 ft model and tying it on right now for tomorrows trip.
Check out Cabelas clearance sale they have going on now. The Prodigy PDC705-1 7' MH/MF is the crankbait rod I have and its $60 bucks on clearance. The All-Star ASR845C 7' M/MF Crankbait rod is also on clearance for $60 bucks as well.
The first time using the Craw Chunk and catching a number of fish was in the spring on a Strike King Swim jig. The fish hit on both the Green Pumpkin and Black/Blue Flake swimming them to the rocks and the lifting and dropping them onto and over the rocks.
I pretty much t-rig the Craw in the same colors but haven't had as many hits.
I just recently purchased the Space Monkey in Green Pumpkin Seed and have been T-rigging them as well. They have been working pretty well swimming them over shallow weeds and grass early in the morning.
Gonna try the Space Monkey on a weighted hook over the weekend at a couple of new lakes and see how they produce.
I have the Quantum Kinetic and it's a great reel. I pretty much use it for the same purpose and it did spend a bit of time as the reel I would use with frogs. The new PT series of reels are lighter than last years and much smoother with great drag systems.
My crankbait rod for:
Baitcasting is a 7' MH/MF (graphite)
Spinning is a 6'6" M/M (fiberglass)
I also use them for pretty much any treble hook lures.
Frogs: 7' MH/F when I fish them.
T-Rigging: 6'6" M/F with this rod also doubling as my swim jig setup.
Are they comparable to the Trion, or the BPS pro qualifier? Never used one before, but they look like a great deal.
I have a Prodigy baitcaster which are made by Daiwa and its a great deal and great bargain at the sale price.
I fish them either on a Medium/Fast spinning setup that now has 20# braid when I'm being lazy.
My other setup is a MH/Fast baitcast setup with either 12# Mono
I pretty much let the fish tell me how they want it and so far I have caught most of mine on a straight retrieve. I've had the most success with 1/4 oz green pumpkin strike king jigs with either a rage tail chunk or the yum swim chunk trailers.
It just feels very stiff and IMO doesnt cast as far as others can.
I just picked up some CXX tonight and could not be happier 1000x better then ultrasoft
Why would you use 12# Yo-Zuri on a crankbait rod? The benefit of Yo-Zuri is that you can move down in test and still have the breaking strength of a higher test mono. 12# Yo-Zuri breaks at something like 19 pounds. I use 10# Yo-Zuri (breaks at 16#) on my heaviest cranking rod, and 8# (breaks at 12#) on my medium cranking outfits.
Move down in test. 12# YZ is overkill on a cranking rod.
Thanks for the input and next time I spool up I will bring it down to 8# or !0# and see if that makes more of a difference in the feel.
Check both Cabelas and Bass Pro as they are having sales on all types of rods and reels.
I would say the Quantum Kinetic or Catalyst PTiB 20 reels and any of the rods on sale ., Cabelas Prodigy, Quantum Superlite or All Star ASR which are all on clearance at Cabelas.
