  1. I have the 6'9" model of the XMLTi and it's a great rod at a great price. Very sensitve and I use it as a weightless plastics rod with fat ikas and senkos. Just adding a 7' M/F casting model I like it so much and still for the $119 price.
  2. In your area try angler's choice, flw, american bass anglers, the bass federation and the suggestions JFrancho gave you as well. Trying to do the same thing myself as a co-angler with one of the local clubs as well as some of the other groups I mentioned.
  3. Hello all, My name is Gil and I’m from Calumet City, IL and I’m interested in fishing division 3 of the Angler’s Choice tournament circuit as a non-boater/co angler for Kinkaid Lake, Clinton Lake or Rend Lake. I wanted to know if anyone on the board is a boater and interested in pairing up to fish any of the particular tournament lakes. This would be my first attempt at fishing a tournament of any type after years of fishing from the shore. Depending on which lake you choose to fish the the tournaments start in march for Kinkaid, april for Clinton and may for Rend lake. If anyone is interested and needs a partner/co angler/non boater please drop me a line here or my email address is threebrothersbassanglers@yahoo.com and thanks for reading the post.
  4. Guess it comes down to the right gear for the right job. I watch guys on WFN fish spinning gear and catch all types of fish as someone in this post mentioned without a problem. A size 10 spinning reel isn't meant to handle a DD22 but I'm just guessing as I've never tried it myself.
  5. Nice gear and lets keep it coming and my next present will be for myself and its a custom 7' MH/F casting rod. When it's finished I should have a better camera lol
  6. Couldn't get a decent pic to post with the cell phone but my wife got me a Cabelas XMLTi 7' Medium casting rod. She also picked herself up a present from Cabelas as well.
  7. All Star has a 7'M/MF spinning rod in its line up it's the ASR845S and the E21 Carrot Stix CLTXPG701M-MF-S is another spinning rod. I think the ASR can be found on ebay for around $100 and the Carrot Stix rod is $149. Myself I'm using a Cabelas Prodigy PDS704-2 which is a M/F but has worked well for me this season and it's $100 but during the sales they are normally $70.
  8. Got out today for about 1.5 hrs with no bites at all before having to leave cause I only had the one rod and got a loop in the line that turned into a bit of a mess. Had to come home and cut off the line because it was so twisted. If the weather cooperates I'll try it again tomorrow.
  9. Merry Christmas to all
  10. I'll be hitting one of the lakes I've been fishing either tomorrow or saturday and air temps are around the same here and sunny as well. There is no wind today but don't know about tomorrow or saturday and I'll see how it goes when I'm out as well.
  11. There is an article in this months/next months(not sure) bassmaster regarding I believe Dream Lake and how they don't allow the use of braid because they at one time would find fish over 5lbs dead with a hook and braid in them because the braid would break on fights with fish over 5 lbs because it wasn't as abrasion resistant as flouro.
  12. Some days its fishing and other days its catching but it beats the cabin fever. Last time out that I spent any real time (1 hour or more) I caught 2 and missed 2 more. They were dinks but felt good and caught them on a reversed Fat Ika. Gotta spend more time with the jig in the water next time I'm out which will be this weekend if it stays in the 30-mid 40's.
  13. I stop fishing when the hard water sets in and I can't get a lure in the water. I've fished with temps being in the low to mid 30's during the mid afternoon as long as the wind isn't kicking up I can and will get a line in the water at one or two lakes near me.
  14. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/94912-dinks-in-40-degree-weather/ I got the two fish in the attachment fishing a Fat Ika near some dying vegetation after missing them a couple of times. I fished it slow with the fat ika reversed and a worm rattle inserted inside of it.
  15. I agree with J Francho but I go with a 2000 Series spinning reel and on the and the line for both also except I step upto 30# braid for spinning when I feel its needed.
  16. Yes the S in the PTs stands for the saltwater version of the reel.
  17. Nice fish Goose and the hardwater hit up in my area just recently but glad to see you can still get out and enjoy.
  18. I haven't fished any tourneys yet but plan on trying to fish as a co-angler in the BFL,ABA and a couple of local area tourneys next year. I've joined a couple of clubs and plan to start in those tourneys and see what happens.
  19. I have a 7' MH Tech Spec spinning rod that is classified as a rig and jig rod. I have used the rod for t-rigged senkos both weighted and unweighted. I've also used it as a jig rod and as a topwater rod for poppers and it has handled all those duties very well.
  20. Quantum Smoke spinning reel
  21. I have both the older model and the newer model of the quantum accurist
  22. The new upgrades look great and the site looks even better now.
  23. Glad u decided to go for it and as someone told me u can't catch them in front of the television. Good Luck
  24. The Citica and Curado are both good reels as well as the Aggrest along with the PQ and the Prodigy. They are all have there pluses and just a matter of which features you want in your reel.
  25. Great report Goose and I actually remember that original post and some of the comments being made. Thanks for update and keep us informed as you said. That's alot of fihing and I have some setups that have only been out once or twice.
