  1. If they don't have the reel in that you want as I said you can always get a salesperson/manager to initial the trade in voucher and get your discount once the reel arrives.
  2. True I should have but you can always get the manager to initial the trade in voucher for out of stock items to get your trade in discount at a later time. My brother did it last year and this year for the reels he wanted. They honored the trade in amount when they did have the reel in stock.
  3. Me and my brother made our trip to the BPS classic in Portage, Indiana to check out the the reels we both were interested in purchasing. We traded our reels in and got our trade in vouchers and proceeded to check out the reels. I was interested in the Quantum Smoke 25 and he wanted the new Abu Garcia Orra S and one other reel. The Quantum was my first Choice and the Pflueger was my second choice. I checked with a salesperson and the Quantum Smoke 25 & 30 were both sold out, even the display models were sold. My brother ended up getting the Orra S display model in the 20 size but his other reel was out as well. I checked out the Pflueger and thought it was nice but really wanted the Quantum and after handling it 3-4 times ended up getting the Pflueger in the 9230 size. I read a couple reviews and the Pflueger seems to be a very nice reel and very very light reel with both a braid ready spool and regular spool, I'll put it through its paces once it has some line added as it will be mounted on my plastics rod which is a Cabelas XMLTi 6'9' M/F. I still may get the Quantum but feel good about the Supreme XT Anyone else run in BPS being out of a reel they wanted?
  4. Good luck guys and fishing my first one as well on April 29 with the ABA and I hope everyone has a great time on their first event.
  5. I use the Cabelas XMLTiS693-1A which is a 6'9" M/F for weightless senko and fat ika duty and some other plastics and it has become one of my favorite combos. Cabelas came out with a new line to replace the XMLTi but they were on clearance for $119 and it's a very sensitive combo when paired with 6# flouro.
  6. Great info from everyone and this will be my first year fishing tournaments as a co-angler and this sure helps to get down to the gear to take and some boat etiquette as well.
  7. Congrats on the purchase and on the catch
  8. Great looking boat and enjoy her :respect-059:
  9. I don't think FLW is a bad league at all and I'm sure some or most don't put the leagues on the same level but in my opinion both leagues feature elite anglers and my opinion is that FLW is as good as B.A.S.S as this current stage. I've only seen the anglers compete against each other on Ultimate Match fishing and usually the FLW anglers do better in the format from my viewing.
  10. I agree they are both great rods and guess it would come down to the better price for me.
  11. Yeah I wanted the new Exo but it only comes RH so I'll either get a smoke or just fish the other LH reels I have and only ratio I'm missing is a 5.x:1 cranking ratio but it's not high on my list of reel wants at this time.
  12. I have 30# braid on most of my setups both spinning and baitcast. I keep braid on the main spool for the spinning setups but either a co-poly,mono or flouro on the backup spool for those windy days that make braid kinda hard to cast from the shore. I have 50# braid on the flipping setups and have never used a leader since most waters I fish are stained.
  13. Paul Elias would be considered to be and old schooler and won an event which started the a-rig craze. I think they have there places in time for any angler.
  14. I've seen a couple episodes and think its a great concept and a great show. It was nice to see Jason Quinn in the episode and him talking to the soldier about what happened and his dreams.
  15. Cabelas is my first choice and 10 min from my house. Bps for the XPS lures Dicks when I'm in the area
  16. Since I fish from the shore I use spinning tackle for almost everything when I'm fishing lakes with shore obstacles. Shallow to medium diver crankbaits both squarebill and lipless and everything else in my tackle bag. Just depends on what I'm fishing and which rod I use since I have spinning rods from ML to MH and bordering on H.
  17. Interesting point of view on the old school vs elite modern anglers.
  18. Extreme angler isn't too bad a show either.
  19. Fishing my first tournament and its on Lake Shelbyville and wanted to know if anyone on the board has fished there for a spring tourny and what I can expect or should bring or to look for as far as the conditions.
  20. Haven't gotten my flyer yet either
  21. I honestly don't know who makes it but it does perform very well.
  22. Tim Hortin is in under the Rolling the Red story on page 46 of the Bassmaster 2012 Pro Guide on page 50 of the story but under the "Happy to be there" category I think they spelled his name wrong and put "Jamie Horton". He's listed on the B.A.S.S. site as one of the AOY qualifiers.
  23. I like VanDam but choosing a order of anglers I would go Evers,Swindle,Palaniuk,Brauer,Martens and Kevin. It would be nice to see Martens get over the hump but I really like Evers and Swindle.
  24. Just watched it myself and yes it was a very good show and Zona was a bit more reserved on the water today.
  25. Yeah, I actually liked the swindle spots
