  1. Booyah makes a good swimming jig, the three colors you should use are shad, bluegill, and black and blue.Crawdad can work sometimes but I think you get a better crawdad imitation with other types of jigs, like a football head jig. trailers are another important part, strike kings rag tailed craw is good for stained water, but you'll want to use a curly tailed grub for clear water
  2. Must be witness by at lest two people, more if possible must be weighed on a certified IGFA scale( from my understanding you must send your scale to them so they can test and certified it) and if your shooting for a state record then a biologist must see and weigh the fish on the states scale and this is a regulation on my home lake not sure if it is on the IGFA level, It must be caught on a artificial lure, live bait not allowed which I think is kinda unfair as for keeping the fish alive you are on your own, anyone have ideas on how to do this ??????
  3. Cedar is great to work with, I'm kinda a rookie at wood baits but I use cedar for all my cranks except ones that I want super sallow, those I do with balsa. One thing to remember is that cedar can peel so be careful when using a knife, other than that it's like working with any other wood only it's much more durable and much more forgiving on mistakes
  4. No we are not nuts we just don't have fish finders. Just the other day I drove by some places to scout them out, and to find if this one house on the lake was a summer home, or did people live there all year round? This is important because their dock is the only place within casting distance from shore that you can reach the fishiest stump field that a shore bound fisherman ever did see . Not only is the house a summer house but there is a public dock right there so I can fish the stump field without even trespassing. No we are not NUTS ;D
  5. Texas guy who hates jigs, not just a Florida thing, that being said can't say they don't work, Storm blue gill swim baits, they never swim right
  6. Lets see, Well me of course, then there are my two little brothers who love to fish like me they will be members of BassResource.com before to long, then there is my other little brother who pretends that he doesn't like it, until the fish are biting then he likes it, my older brother does not fish unless we go on a guided stripier tour, both of my little sisters like to fish, my dad who got me started he loves the sport like me but for different reasons, my mom who as a rule does not fish, my brother- in-law likes to fish, my older sister doesn't fish, but I can't wait to get started on her son as soon as he's big enough to hold a rod I say that there are 4 die hard fisherman in my family, then everybody likes to fish, all except my mom and older sister
  7. I read something about it in north American fishing club, but I have never fished it before, waiting for some one else to wast there money test it then tell me if it's worth it ;D ;D

  14. Got one little phase for you "COME TO TEXAS" we have more 6lbs than we know what to do with If lake Fork or Falcon is to far, Lake Ray Roberts is one of the best kept fishing secrets in Texas and it's close to the border. Lake Texoma isn't to bad either, and as for school, why do you think it's called hookey ;D ;D

  17. I just have a few ??? about the Dancing eel from YUM, does it work, and where can you fish it? I always wanted to buy one just to see the action but never pulled the trigger. So how would you rate it. Must have. Good for somethings. OK. Best left in the tackle box. ??????
  18. If this is you first baitcaster and your use to fishing spinning here's a few tips 1. tighten the casting control so that the lure falls SLOWLY when you push the release. 2. Casting with a baitcaster should be done in a smooth motion, don't try and power it out there, just try and learn to cast with a nice easy motion until you can do it without back lashing, the smoother you can cast the loser the cast control nob can be= longer cast without back lash 3. The cast control must be adjusted for different lure weight, what might have worked for 1/2 ounce might not work for a 3/4 ounce lure, can't tell how to do this since I adjust for only my own style and what "feels right to me" only experience can teach you that. good luck
  19. IF WE WANT TO FISH, WE WILL FISH I'm going to put that on a T-shirt, with a picture of Ray Scott posed as Uncle Sam, ;D ;D ;D Better copy right that Sam it's great

Oh well, you'll get more time if your on TV again Glenn. And if you do, I want your autograph too
  21. Hand painted lipless crank, green with black strips, 2 bass on two casts, one 6.5lb, the other 6.3lb, lost the bait next week end on brush, my heart was broken :'(
  22. I think tackle stores are like lakes, every fisherman has a favorite, Mine is a place which has a sign on the road saying,"Come in and lets talk fishing," great tackle selection, and conversation, can't beat it
  23. I've seen a guy fish with a spinning reel on a baitcasting pole, I've seen a woman that could only cast with a spinning reel if the drag was as lose as you can get it, she would reel in then just cast out without opening the bail
  24. Well I have to say that it takes some imagination to get what your talking about from that picture but I'm blessed with a big imagination so I can see what your talking about, and from what you said your trying to get a senko bait with a slower fall and more twitch in the tail, am I right? Well maybe it's just me but I like my stick baits with only a little twitch in the tall because I believe that is what makes the fish eat it.The same with a wacky rigged worm, I catch more fish by letting it sink and letting the slight twitch do the work. If I'm trying to get more movement out of a worm I'll use a swimming tail worm, or a curly tailed grub instead. Still who knows what a senko with a wider action will do, maybe catch more fish But you also mention that you want to give it a slower more horizontal fall. This is a great idea and I think your on the right track with the fatter middle. Try your bait and who knows, maybe you will invent the next senko, good luck
