Weiss can be tough for someone unfamiliar with the lake, anyone who knows the lake will tell you that you can tear a boat up quickly there. I agree with the comment that it has excellent habitat, it is an awesome lake. In years gone by it was heavily pressured but Guntersville gets most of the attention now.
I live about 2 hours north of where you go to school and for Stick Marsh the best two words to remember are George Welcome. I've fished with him and he is AWESOME!
The Chattanooga Bass Association was involved in adding Florida Strain bass fingerlings to Chickamauga for several years. Now Chickamauga is an AWESOME fishery. Last year in a large local tournament it took 33 lbs. to win 1st place with a 5 fish limit. That is a sack of fish! Guntersville is good also but not that good.
Yes, I forgot about Stick Marsh. Idle speed only or hire a guide.
The spill way at the southeast corner of Farm 13 is always good if the water is flowing.
Depends on how far you want to go. If you want to fish in the Tenn, Alabama, Georgia area Guntersville in northeastern Alabama is the best lake in the southeast except for lakes in Florida. If you want to go all the way to Florida some of the lakes in Polk County Florida would be good, Toho, Kissimmee, etc...
I would agree with one adder- fish slow, the colder the water the slower you fish. Depending on the water temp you will need to be closer to the creek channel (deeper water). If you get there and the water is in the low 50's then fish the channel and then fish each stump flat you find off the channel. If the water is in the 40's stick close to the creek channel.
On going to the railroad bridge: it is tough to get all the way back to the railroad bridge in a full size bass boat. The locals can run way back but I would be very careful and us the trolling motor. You are in fishable water all the way so why run anyhow? Good luck!
