  1. I don't think they are custom bends, they are the same hook that Stanley and Dirty jigs use, I think booyah uses them in a model of jig also, I am going to grab one and melt the head down to see what hook is in there, something tells me its not custom bent.
  2. It is a suspending jerk bait, you will have to reel it down to depth, usually 4-5 slow cranks of the reel, then you can fish it anyway you want, steady retrieve, retrieve with jerks, stopping on the retrieve letting it suspend and hang in the fishes face, there really is no wrong way to fish it, my only advice is usually faster retrieves work bwtter in the summer, but as the water cools, slowing down can be key.
  3. 5/16 original swim jig, in Bull Gill with a Paca Craw Alabama Craw trailer, and a 1/2oz triple willow spinnerbait in ChartWhite.
  4. it doesn't matter which angle you hold that fish, there is no way it has a 22" girth. It is a big fish no doubt, but not anywhere near 22" girth, I think it might still barely break the 6 lb 7oz record, but not near 8lb 9oz it is claimed to be
  5. Paca Chunk Keitech fat swng impact, Just tried the Kalins sizmic grub yesterday and it is a winner also Havoc subwoofer and actions plsatics 5" mag grub
  6. One of my 1100's is right in the closet about 5 feet from my side of the bed, smooth bore shorty slug barrel and #6 bird shot, still have the sound of racking a shell in, but can also unload 6 shells in under 5 seconds all on target
  7. Here is a video we did about our swim jigs, we will be doing more videos here in the near future. This video goes over the design of our swim jig, what situations to use it in, and what trailers I use with them.
  8. Craw and the chunk both work, it just depends on what profile you want, more good trailers are the Havoc subwoofer, havoc grass pig, paca chunks, and single and double tail grubs.
  9. He bought the original chatterbait design, he did not rip it off, there is a huge difference in the business world. I am not saying I like the patent, in fact I think most of the patents handed out in the fishing world are bs, terminator patented titanium when they were no where close to the first to be using titanium wire, on top of that is a an element and I don't understand a patent on an element. We won't even get into the patented designs of soft plastics or swim baits, but the whole idea of a patent has to be upheld, otherwise we turn into China
  10. Some of the bigger companies will give royalties to zman to sell baits with the blade attached directly to the bait, imho this is the only way to go with these baits. Like it or not it is intellectual property of Zman and deserves to be protected, regardless of who originally designed it. It is just to bad someone didn't patent the original eaker shaker since this is where the bait originated from in the late 70's
  11. ZMAN is redoing his patents right now, I would guess you will see alot of them disappearing from the market because the do not want to get slapped with a cease and desist.
  12. I have one and really like it for the price point, but about a week after I got it a guide fell apart, not really abig deal, just took it into a local rod shop and had them replace the guide on it.
  13. TCbass, try out the flip and swim jig on my website, I have alot of customers that fish the east metro, and it is a very popular jig all over Minnesota. The reason it is popular is because it does it all, fishes weeds great, swims great, can be drug on the bottom with its wider roller style bottom. The only place its not really going to do that good is wood and chunk rock but being a MN boy you are not going to run into either much. We also have a new flipping jig coming out on Memorial day weekend that is custom designed for the water we fish in the north, natural weedy lakes. Check out the link in my signature to see what we have to offer, everything is next day shipping also!
  14. Check out the Missile Baits D-Bomb, it is imho, the best of the beaver style baits.
  15. PIG!!! And we are still iced up here
  16. Whats a swim jig? If I am throwing the original its a 5" grub 40% the time, Paca Craw 40%, and a boot type trailer like the Keitech, grass pig, or whatever floats your boat the rest of the time. A break down of when and why I throw a different trailer in the mix, in the spring as the water is warming I throw the grub, it is a smaller profile more of a finesse type trailer, once the fish go post spawn and can be shallow deep whatever I turn to the action craw type trailer, it allows more versatility, swim it, jig it, dead stick it, in my mind it looks good doing all of them and that's what matters to me. Moving into late summer/ fall bass in my area are often feeding up chasing bait fish and that's when I switch to the boot tail trailer, I can change the trailer to change the look, there is a lot of versatility in these types of trailers. If I am throwing a swim jig like the flip and swim The trailer could be anything from a Action claw type trailer like the Paca to a creature style bait, the Missile D-bomb is my latest and greatest when adding a bulky trailer, to bigger paddle tail type trailers, the subwoofer is a good choice here also. It depends on what I am doing as to what trailer I am using, flipping, fishing isolated cover, or deep water swimming.
  17. Just cut a hole in the bottom of your boat on each end and run the wires then silicone them up......lol have a good bilge pump, you should never have a problem
  18. Don't watch the youtube videos, they are wrong, I have painted tens of thousands of jigs, all single dipped out of a container and have a pretty good system down, heat the jig up enough so the powder barely sticks, if you pull it out of the container and it is already flashed (shiny) you were to hot, you want the jig to look "flat" the lighter the coat of powder the better off you are. Hang them on a rack immediately after painting making sure they are not touching and put them in the oven, I bake at 375 for like 15 to 20 minutes, but I also use digitally controlled ovens that will not overheat,, they hold within5 degrees of set temp which is also important, if you are using a toaster oven set it at like 330 because it will heat up to like 360 then back down to 300 and back up to around 360, they have horrible temp control.
  19. Get a pair of gate cutters and clip that flashing off from around the hook eye and then take a nail file (the black ones at walmart) and touch up any rough areas around the line tie, otherwise its going to be trouble with fraying your line out and breaking. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with pink, its smallmouth crack in stained waters around here
  20. We pulled out of all retail, we have our website and our own retail shop on site that we can't keep a stock for, I decided to pull the plug so I can at least try and get a stock or keep up with orders for the website. My business goals don't include knocking off Strike King or Booyah on quantity, its the quality part that I worry most about. I am slowly catching up and order times are down to 1-2 weeks, if you need something in a rush I might be able to help, it never hurts to send an email out to ask.
  21. the rubber in jigs is different than the rubber on frogs, just keep it out of extreme heat and do not store them in direct light and you will be fine, rubber doesn't have uv protectors like silicone and will fade in direct light
  22. if its Poison tail the easy way to tell mine is the 3/8 has the 4/0 and the 1/2 has the 5/0 it is a noticeably bigger hook. Looks wise they are almost the same.
  23. It is quite possible I made a mistake. Lots of orders going out every day. Give me a call or email tomorrow and we can sort it out
  24. You were short one, I found one hanging out on my desk, and am pretty sure it was from your order, will be in the mail tomorrow. Thanks for the kind words also
  25. What kind of "cover"? Weed or wood? It makes a huge difference in what style of jig you should use. If you are fishing wood cover you would want a jig with wider shoulders to deflect off of the cover and keep it from getting hung up, it should also have a fairly stout 60 degree hook but imho you don't need to go over board, Alot of jigs are coming out with these monster hooks in them that are usually used in salt water applications, which are great if you need to muscle a 40lb salt water fish, they are usually extreme over kill in bass fishing though, the main reason I do not like them is the amount of force needed to get a good hookset, also I tend to gravitate to the smallest hook I can get away with for the simple reason that the fish doesn't feel the hook as soon as it picks up the jig, and will hold on longer. For weed cover you want something with a inline or at most 30 degree hook and swept back weedguard so it can penetrate and glide through cover. My personal choice for weed cover is my original swim jig or if I want to slow down a Flip and Swim, both come through weed cover good and the flip and swim can pull double duty as a flipping type jig or a swim jig and is a little more versatile. For wood cover the Knock Out or Black series with the Alien head is all you will ever need. Knock Out Flip and Swim Original Swim jig
