  1. Very nice. I've been keeping aquariums for over 40 years. I'd suggest rubber banding the claws on your blue lobster or it will use them to catch and eat your fish :'(. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  2. Personally I don't think this boat is worth the headaches and money to restore. I have a 1977 Glastron Sportster with a 1967 Evinrude Starflite 80 that was in excellent visual condition but needed motor work and I found out after a few trips to the lake also needed new stringers and deck. Did all the work last winter and now looks like a new boat with new pedistal seats, fish finder, dual batteries on 1/2/both/off switch, submersible lights, marine band radio, Sirius satelite radio, motorcycle headlights for nighttime use, new bimini top,and much more. It was a lot of work but much less then your boat will require. My suggestion is to find something that requires less work and money. The total for my project , including purchase price is @ $6000. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  3. Sorry if I got "flamish". Go Cardinals. Nuf said. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  4. I'm a lifelong Steelers fan,but living in Arizona I'm rooting for the Cardinals. And hookemdown, sure I remember the 2000 election. The team with the most points won. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  5. I use 2 of Wal-Mart's best at about $70 and they are well worth the money. Absouletly no complaints. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  6. Has there ever been a team of whining crybaby little girls than the Dallas Crygirls? :'( No-one has ever been more guilty of cheating and bribing than they. > Now, as for this Superbowl, this lifetime Steeler's fan, born and raised in western PA has a real dilema on his hands. After living here in Arizona for 29 years, should I root for Pittsburgh to win an unprecedented 6 superbowls ;D, or root for Arizona to get their first . Well, the Cardinals are kind of like Rocky Balboa. Everyone says they're no good and have no business in the big game :-?, but they just keep on winning against all odds. They have the heart and the eye of the tiger. For the first time ever I'm going to have to root against my beloved Steelers :-/ and say GO CARDINALS. ;D Happy fishing. 8-) ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  7. Largemouth and striped bass, and channel and flathead cats are pretty much a year round oppertunity here in the Phoenix area. By the way, it's 74 degrees here today. 8-) Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  8. Use exterior grade plywood with no knotholes. The glue used for exterior grade is the same as used for marine grade. Get it at Lowe's or Home Depot. Mix fiberglass resin, then dilute it with acetone to a thin almost watery consistancy and apply 3 coats to all surfaces and edges. After installing, apply full strength fiberglass resin and metting on surface of deck. After drying apply outdoor carpeting with glue specific to outdoor carpet. Use a roller to smooth out carpet as you stretch it out and roll down. Your project will turn out great. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  9. Nice work Jason. I did a similar restoration of my 1977 Glastron Sportster last winter. If you are interested I posted a description of my restoration under the post heading "for those who can appreciate a good ole project" . It's on pace 5 of this forum, dated Nov. 24. Happy Fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  10. Thanks to you all for your help and advice. Right now I'm concentrating on a Dodge Durango with 4.7 liter V-8 and 4 speed OD transmission with factory tow package. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  11. Hi all. Hope you're all staying warm. I need some input on purchasing an vehicle to tow my 16' fishing boat. The boat , motor, and trailer weigh @ 2800 pounds. I was using a 1987 Chevy S-10 Blazer with 2.8 liter motor. I know, the motor is under sized for the job, but it could tow down the freeway at 55 MPH alright. The problem is I blew out the automatic transmission. Just didn't have the guts for the job. I am also a musician and grand parent and need an enclosed vehicle to haul and protect my musical instruments and equipment and for hauling passengers, so I don't want a pickup or pickup with cap. I've been considering a Toyota 4Runner or Nissan Pathfinder with V6 engine and 5 speed manual transmission, 1990 to 1995. I'm also looking at a couple of older (1984) Toyota Land Cruisers model FJ60, the larger 4 door model with inline 6 engine and 4 speed manual transmission. Also considering Range Rover vehicles in the 1990-1995 year range. This vehicle will be driven regularly so fuel economy is a consideration, however, being a servicable tow vehicle is top priority ,and I want a 4 wheel drive vehicle. All input and advise will be appreciated. Thanks . Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  12. CFFF1.5, I made myself a push pole for extreme shallow water. Get 2 pieces of 1" PVC pipe and cut them down to 6 to 8 feet in length. Glue male and female threaded fittings to the ends on two pieces, then glue a cap on the handle end and glue a "T" fitting with plugs to the other piece. With this you can push your boat in shallow water . Works great for around $10. Just screw the 2 pieces together when you need the pole, and the 2 pieces are easy to store in your boat. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  13. J. Grouch, last winter I did an extensive rebuild of my Glastron Sportster tri-hull, the final stage of which was installing new seats. I got some very nice ones from the Cabella's catalog. These were @ $125 each. I'm sure a local automotive upholstery shop could redo your existing seats reasonably. I would look into that before replacment. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  14. Hi all. Here in Arizona a cell phone is all but useless on our lakes. Your screen will read "no service". If you don't have marine band VHF you don't have communication. As I said before, I wouldn't be without mine. Also, push to talk is a subscription extra you must pay for. A VHF radio is a one time purchase. Also as I said previously, on VHF you have the full time emergency channel 16, plus national weather service channels, updating your local weather every 15 minutes. Channel 16 is monitored by county sheriff's departments here in central Arizona. Happy fishing ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  15. Hi Long Mike, my friend Rick and I have marine band radios on our boats and another friend, Mike does not. Rick and I can communicate anywhere on the lake at any time. Mike can't. Rick and I have met up at a lake in the middle of the night and found each other using our radios. You also get updated weather every 15 minutes from the weather service. Ship to ship/ship to shore radios are well worth the $150 you'd pay for a decent one. Also, channel 16 is emergency channel you use to get help. It's monitored by either USCG or local sheriff's office. By the way, my boat is only a 16', but I'd never be without my radio. 8-) Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  16. My posting name tells the story. I'm a bass fisherman :)and bass player, 8-) so the small bedroom in my house is my "man cave" containing all my music equipment on one side of the room and fishing equipment on the other. Happy fishing. ;D ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  17. I used @ $1 a square foot outdoor carpet , tan color, glued down to my boat's wooden floor. The wood is sealed and covered with fiberglass cloth and resin. Looks great. 8-) Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  18. That trailer looks new. It came from Harbor Freight Tools. When I sold my aluminum boat to my neighbor I had just gotten the same trailer fot it. I think the trailer cost $250, so you got a smoking deal. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~A.M>A.~
  19. It was my Grandmother who taught me how to fish, off the bridge next to my grandparents house on Cypress Creek in Ft.Lauderdale Florida 8-). Her gift has been a love and passion for fishing for 45 years now and stronger than ever. Thanks Grandma ;D. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~A.M.A.~
  20. West Marine sells these. You can get them with standard bulbs or led's. They are ok for small aluminum boats etc. Take along extra batteries for it just in case. Happy Fishing ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~A.M.A.~
  21. Hey Fishing Rhino, I remember Gadabout Gaddis. Used to watch him every Sunday with my parents. Seems to me it was on right before or after American Sportsman with Curt Goudy. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~A.M.A.~
  22. I've been getting North American Fisherman, In-Fisherman, and BassMasters and just this month got a copy of Bassin'. I like the other three for various reasons (multi species fishing) 8-) but I agree with Sam in that Bassin' is more informative concerning bass fishing. ;)Started my subscription to it today. ;D Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~A.M.A.~
  23. The only channel I can get that used to show fishing shows is Outdoor Channel. They used to show lots of great fishing shows ;D, but for @ 9 months now almost all I see are hunting shows. Might as well change their name to The Hunting Channel! > Happy fishing. 8-) ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~A.M.A.~
  24. We had a light dusting of snow here in Phoenix around Christmas time about 5 years ago. Very rare. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~A.M.A.~
