  1. I'm a bassist (hence my posting name) and harmonica player and vocalist, been playing over 40 years professionally and semi pro. I have 5 basses; 3 electrics, 1 acoustic and 1 upright. Also an electric 12 string guitar, piano, Hammond and Italian organs, and a 100 year old mandolin. Diatonic harmonicas in every key, and a whole bedroom full of amplifiers, PA gear, stage lights, stands, etc. My reguler fishing partner is a saxophone wizard who I've been playing with for over 10 years. My other fishing partner is a monster keyboardist that I've been playing with for 15 years. Music and fishing are both a big part of my life, and I started both at the age of 13. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  2. I agree with the comments about the blues channels. Also, I think The Vault was much better than Deep Tracks. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  3. Smokin' deal on a nice little boat. 8-) Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~boatU.S.~
  4. I use 2 top of the line Wal-Mart deep cycle batteries for starting and for everything else. I have them on a 1/2/both/off switch 8-) so one battery is a dedicated starting battery that stays charged for that purpose only, and the other runs all my accessories. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  5. I did this with my aluminum boat and it worked great. Get 2 gate wheels in the aisle where they stock casters and wheels at Home Depot. These wheels are made to be mounted to a swinging gate and have a spring loaded swiveling wheel mounted in a steel frame. Bolt them to the back(outside) of your transom on each side with the wheel pointed up, making sure to use marine grade silicone to seal the bolt holes. Then just pick up the bow of your boat and walk it down to the water, flip it over , and away you go. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  6. Hi luckycraftman, I'm a Pittsburgh expatriot myself . Been here in Arizona for 30 years now. The water isn't frozen and the fishing is fine year round 8-). Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~boatU.S.~
  7. Being a musician (bassist, hence my posting name), I'm acustomed to being ambidextrous.I use right and left hand baitcast, letf hand retrieve spinning, and right and left hand spincast. I can switch between them without any appreciable difference. Probably has to do with playing music all my life ( bass, guitar, Piano, organ). Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  8. I subscribe to North American Fisherman, In-Fisherman, Bass Master, Bassin', BoatU.S. Angler, and Arizona Wildlife Views. All are informative. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  9. I have to dissagree with ww2farmer's advice concerning your extension wire. The guage of the wire the motor manufacturer supplied is intended only for the length they supplied with the motor. When you add distance to an electrical load , you also add resistance , therefore, you need to go to a smaller guage (larger diameter) wire to compensate for that extra resistance . Use 6 guage and I assure you that you will have no problems ;D. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  10. Another option for you is using dry cell battery powered lights. They use AA dry cell batteries. You can get the red/green unit for the bow and the white unit for the stern from West Marine or any on line boat supplier. Lights are a federal law and you will get cited for violation :'(. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  11. Red, you can mount the battery where ever it is convenient and run wire from it to your motor. Use 6 guage wire from Home Depot, Lowe's or any hardware store. Add a marine grade circuit breaker in line and you're set to go. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S>~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  12. I use 2 top of the line Wal-Mart batteries. Cost@$60. Ihave them on a 1/2/both/off switch, and I also installed a fairly large (12"x18") solar battery charger 8-)on my boat, about 20" from the batteries. These batteries are great and I put the switch on "both" when the boat is sitting in my driveway so they recharge and stay fully charged between fishing trips. I just turn back enough of the boat cover to expose the solar charger. btw, my trolling motor is a MinnKota Edge 50# thrust. I also run a marine band radio, Sirius satellite radio, submersible lights, and my fishfinder and have never had a discharged battery ;D. I always use the battery switch to keep one battery as a dedicated starting battery and the other to run all my accessories . Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  13. I think a lot of it has to do with the age of your motor. Mine is a 1967 Evinrude Starflite 80hp. It was designed to run on high octane, higher than you can get out of the pump now. I don't use octane booster in this motor and modern pump premium seems to be working just fine. I definately recommend using a good quality marine fuel stabilizer though, no matter the age of your motor. 8-) Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  14. I use whichever hand is not the reeling hand. Left with baitcast, right with spinning. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  15. Hey Glenn, I have it in the boat too. My favorites: Grateful Dead The Bridge Classic Vinyl Classic Rewind B.B.King's Bluesville Pure Jazz 60's on 6 50's on 5 Bluegrass Junction Outlaw Country Spa 73 Symphony Hall Bluecollar Comedy Radio Classics Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  16. It's a little too cool for me right now for overnight fishing (about 40 degrees), but during the summer it's the most comfortable way to go (when it's 112 degrees) and my prefered way to fish then. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  17. Hi spoon33. I always use the highest octane fuel I can get. As for 2 stroke oil, I use Pennzoil Synthetic. I also add Star Brite marine fuel additive or Sta-Bil Marine fuel additive to combat the horrors of ethanol in boat fuel tanks, and I suggest you do the same. I spent $600 on carburator and fuel pump rebuilds last year :'(due to water and rust in my fuel thanks to ethanol even though I was using regular formula Sta-Bil before this happened :-?. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  18. Make sure you use adhesive for outdoor carpeting. After you spread adhesive and have carpet placed over it, use a roller to press down carpet on adhesive . Aheavy wooden rolling pin will work just fine. 8-) Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  19. I used to own a 1960 Dodge Phoenix 2 door fastback with a 392 Hemi drivetrain from a B Gass rail project that the previous owner never finished. That Mopar was scarry fast. My favorite all time ride though is the 427 Cobra Roadster
  20. Just bought some. Hope it works better than regular Sta-bil. I spent $600 on carb and fuel pump rebuilds from rust and water in fuel using the regular formula. I'm installing a new plastic fuel tank this month before taking out the boat. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  21. Ever since the final game of the regular season the Cardinals have rolled over everyone that has gotten in their way . The Steelers may win, but they should definately have their hands full for 4 quarters . Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  22. Cherish every moment my friend. ;D Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  23. Most tachs are quite simple to install. The instruction sheet that comes with it should be very easy to follow. 4 wires. Possitive, negative, lead to your lights for the light in the tach, and one lead that goes to the possitive terminal on your ignition coil. Thats the usual installation. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  24. Not bass but I did catch 2 blue runners on the same cast while fishing from the Deerfield Beach fishing pier in Deerfield Beach Florida . What fun eh ;D? Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
  25. Blue lobster is just aquarium store jargon for a blue crayfish (Procambarus Alleni) from either Australia or South America. Crayfish are natural predators of fish. As long as it is small it will not be a problem, however they grow very quickly and become very aggresive at about 4 to 6 inches in length and have a very ravenous appetite. Also, many fish species rest on the bottom at night when crayfish, being nocternal, are on the hunt for a meal, making then an easy target for a hungry predator. Also, crayfish primarily ues their first set of legs just behind their claws to pickup and place food in their mouths, and use their claws for grabbing prey and tearing it apart. When they lose their claws in nature, often from a fight with another crayfish, they use their front set of feet exclusevily to feed themselves and will do so if their claws have been banded to protect fish. I'm certainly not trying to tell you what to do with your aquarium or it's inhabitants, just passing along friendly advise from someone who has been there. As I said before, you have done a very nice job . Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~
