  1. Same here. Having to manage two pairs of glasses in the boat is a pain the.........BUTT. I just hate having a lower lens when I'm flipping or doing things in the boat. I play bass and fish for bass as well Are you on the Talkbass forum?? I'm not familiar with the Talkbass forum. I am also on the fishingclub.com and azbasszone.com forums though. Same posting name on those also.
  2. No, but I rarely see a sighted musician that doesn't look at what they're playing occasionally ! And I've been performing pro/semipro for 40 years.
  3. I have a rod that is dedicated to catfishing. It's a Rhino Kevlar tip medium heavy baitcast rod with a Penn 209 levelwind reel spooled with 150 yards of Trilene Big Game50 pound test line. This is my flathead and large channel rig. For smaller channels I use a medium action Berkley Cherrywood spinning rod with a South Bend Spinmaster II spinning reel loaded with 150 yards of Trilene XT 12 pound test line.
  4. I use 2 anchors, both fluke type, 20 pounds, on 120 feet of rode (anchor rope). Each anchor is attached to 4 feet of heavy chain, then the rope. I tie off to the boat cleats on bow (when only anchoring temporarily ) or bow and stern (when anchoring to fish overnight). When deploying both anchors, I make sure to be headed into the current bow first. Using two overnight avoids tangled fishing lines due to boat spin on a single anchor. My boat is a 16 foot Glastron Sportster. If you plan to anchor in 20' of water, let out @ 80 feet of rode to allow chain to lay on bottom, allowing anchor to get a good bite.
  5. Rebel Angler, my grandmother taught me to fish 45 years ago, so I feel your loss. My prayers to you and yours.
  6. My biggest problem with bifocals or progressives is that I'm a lifetime pro/semipro bassist, and looking down at the neck of the instrument with either type of lens splits the neck in two, creating something that looks like a double neck instrument. I had to go back to single vision lenses for distance. My reading vision is still quite good without correction, and I only need magnification for precise up close work and for tying fishing line, so I get along just fine with drugstore reading glasses for these needs.
  7. I had them once. Never could adjust to them. I went back to single vision lenses for distance, and use "store" reading glasses for tying fishing line.
  8. Bass Master magazine had an article in the last issue about how to add a trolling motor to the kayak. If your kayak has rod holders molded in, use 1 1/4" pvc pipe cut to @ 12" length. Insert these into rod holders. Cut a piece of pressure treated 2X4 to span the PVC and overhang either side enough to mount trolling motor. Then mark on 2X4 and PVC where to drill through and use stainless steel bolts, washers and nuts to assemble the rig .After painting the 2X4 the color of your choice. Bolt it up, add your motor and battery, and go fishing.
  9. In-Fisherman, The Bass Pros, and Bill Dance always have good informative programming with diagrams, maps etc. That's what I want in a fishing show. Not just showing guys catching fish and bantering as they do it.
  10. I use Cocoons Aviators with copper color lenses and love them. Copper cuts water glare best, next is amber, then gray.
  11. Something i really enjoy while fishing is Delmonte brand canned sliced peaches and sliced pears. Their cans come with a pull ring pop top making them easy to open and eat on the boat.
  12. Asian walking catfish. They're not uncommon in Florida. Too cold for them farther north. They're an invasive species that used to be imported for the tropical fish aquarium trade in albino form. Released fish thrived in Florida. They can crawl out of the water and "walk" to another water environment, making them difficult to impossible to eradicate.
  13. My neighbor finally emptied the water in the boat and cleaned it up to sell it. Someone's going to get a nice 14' aluminum boat for @ $450. I'll be glad to see someone who really wants a boat get it and use it.
  14. I have a Coleman battery powered shower. It pumps hot water from a kettle through a hose to a showerhead. I enjoy camping much more when I'm clean.
  15. Owner's here too.
  16. I use shoulder holsters. My S&W model 59 9mm in an Uncle Mike's Sidekick horizontal draw. My S&W model 629 44mag 4" barrel in a Bianchi Phantom vertical breakaway draw that I shortened for better concealment.
  17. Mono floats. Flouro and braids sink. Use mono for surface fishing. Personally, I'm very old school and use Trilene XL mono for everything on all my rigs, except catfish rig, which gets Trilene XT.
  18. Trilene XL. I use it on all my rigs, baitcast and spinning ( 4, 8, 10, 12# test) except my heavy catfish rig. That gets Trilene XT (50# test).
  19. Here in Arizona you must register within 30 days. You can register for 1 or 2 years. Same for motor vehicles. Trailers can be annually registered, or for @ 4 years registration fee, get a permanent registration. I have permanent on both my trailers, and register vehicles and boat for 2 years at a time.
  20. I use a 3 ring notebook binder with the large rings. Then I fill it with the plastic sleeves for protecting papers, and load the sleeves with the baits in their original bags. Easy to find what you want, well organized.
  21. I always want to know the weight of any catch.
  22. I have Sirius satellite radio on my boat so I don't take my i-pod , but my buddy takes his on his boat, and runs it through his radio.
  23. I have a CCW, and always carry, 24/7. Arizona is one of the most gun friendly states. On the boat I always have which ever gun I'm carrying that day, and my designated boat gun, stored in my boat bag, a 1911A1.
  24. Archie is pulling for his son, therefore, the Colts. Me? Go Saints!
  25. That Morgan Freeman was right on!!
