  1. When I was in the Air force I was motorcycling with some buddies. One of them was yelling something to us when a wasp flew into his mouth and stung him several times. We barely got him to the base hospital in time before his throat swelled closed from the allergic reaction.
  2. Yep, I have 2 of them , one for trolling motor and other accessories, and one for a starting battery on a "1, 2, both, off" switch.
  3. OK, nearly everyone wears sunglasses during the day, but unless you wear prescription lenses, how many of you wear clear safety glasses after sundown? Not many right? So bear this in mind: HOOKS IN THE EYE! It happens! I've had lures hit me in the chest, head, back, etc on the rebound after a hook set or a thrown lure by a fish or a false cast fly casting. PLEASE wear clear safety glasses when you are not wearing sun glasses or risk horrible injury!
  4. First off, these photos are not for the squeamish! This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed however. FISH HOOKS IN THE EYE! Nearly everyone wears sunglasses during the day while fishing, but unless you need prescription lenses, how many of you wear clear safety glasses while night fishing? Not many right? I'm taking my beloved 11 year old granddaughter overnight fishing next weekend and want to make sure she wears clear safety glasses after sundown, she wears sunglasses during the day. PLEASE, take this warning to heart: WEAR CLEAR SAFETY GLASSES when you are not wearing sunglasses while fishing or risk horrible injury.
  5. I use Trilene XT, 17 pound test on my channel cat rig Bait cast rig. Trilene XL in 6, 8, 10, and 12 pound test on various spinning and baitcast reels BUT, I have started to switch to Stren original because it seems to stay supple and not get hard and "coily" as soon as XL here in the desert heat.
  6. I've been towing my 16' boat with a 1987 S-10 Blazer with the tow package and the small 2.8 V-6 for 5 years. It's slow up hill ( I don't have to deal with a lot of hills) but otherwise get's the job done without any problems. I don't run air conditioning when I'm towing to reduce engine load, but hey, there's no air conditioning while fishing anyhow! I also installed a BIG transmission cooler rated at 3600 pounds. Runs nice and cool even on our 115 degree days.
  7. P40 was a lousy fighter, no match for the Zero. Mustang on the other hand was probably the best propeller fighter ever. I live in the west and carry a gun everywhere as do most of the guys (and some of the ladies) I know. No horses though.
  8. Sometimes the fish just don't catch any people!
  9. Barefoot, socks when the carpet is too hot during the summer. It was 115 degrees here today!!!
  10. I know bass eat them although I've never caught bass with them. I do catch flatheads with them though.
  11. Channels and blues can be caught any time of the day. Flatheads will only be active from dusk to dawn. If legal where you live, use live bluegill for flathead bait, cut bluegill for channel cat bait. Otherwise, go with frozen squid purchased from any Asian supermarket for channels. Squid is very tough and difficult for fish to steal off the hook. I use Gamakatsu Octopus circle hooks, 3/0 for channels, 8/0 for flatheads. Rig up like a heavy Carolina rig. Have fun and happy cat fishing!
  12. I fly cast for bass on nearly every fishing trip. I use a 7 weight rig with WF7F World Wide Angler salt water fly line, sky blue color. This line casts well in wind and is designed for hot weather and warm water. My favorite bass flies are available from the BPS online catalog; 1. Enrico Puglisi Pin Fish, 1/0 2. Enrico Puglisi Peanut Butter in chartreuse and white, 1/0 3. Rainey's Bubblehead popper, silver/blue scale pattern, 1/0 4. Rainey's Bubblehead popper, black (night fishing), 1/0 Hope this helps some. Happy fly fishing!
  13. X2, I'd love to see a fly fishing for bass forum.
  14. My reply is going in the opposite direction. I tow my 16' Glastron Sportster with 80 hp motor behind my 1987 S-10 Blazer with a 2.8 liter V-6. It has heavy duty springs and I had a rebuilt transmission (with overdrive) installed 2 years ago and then I added a transmission cooler rated for 3500 pounds, far more than the load I haul.. I then had the transmission tuned up by a local transmission shop whose owner is a tournement fisherman who told me it will do the job just fine. My highway speed is only 55-60 mph (with the tranny NOT in overdrive, never tow in overdrive) and she slows down and down shifts going uphill. Can't use the air conditioner when towing, there's only so much power available with this small engine, and none for extra luxeries while towing. The lakes I fish are 40 to 80 miles one way and I have had no problems whatsoever. When not towing this truck gets @ 25 mpg, with the boat probably half that. The 4.7 liter engine would probably be perfect for this truck. I too need to balance fuel economy with towing ability. Good luck with your search and happy fishing.
  15. Mine too. I love "One More Cast".
  16. I agree that his legion of fans can only be attributed to his name. He's a likable enough guy, but average at best as far as driving talent is concerned. He'd still have some fans, but no more than any other average talent driver. He is certainly no Jimmy Johnson, Kyle Busch, or Tony Stewart!
  17. I agree, I used to catch both when I was a teenager in Florida and loved catching them. And I too wish they were available to catch here in Arizona.
  18. Well. my 1987 Chevy S-10 Blazer lost the fuel pump Friday night. Got it towed to a shop near my house (by a fellow bass angler no less!) and when they figured out it was the fuel pump and called around to find one everyone told them 3 working days to get the part. That means Thursday! Oh well, no problem, you couldn't get me on any lakes over a holiday weekend anyhow. I'll be going fishing June 11-12. The tow truck operator is going to be one of my future fishing buddies! That's kind of cool huh?
  19. Ain't got the time! With 5 grand kids (always want us to go to something, piano recital, dance recital, birthdays, school events, etc), a band to rehearse and gig (I play bass, harmonica, and vocals), and a home remodel, if I have any spare time I go fishing. Fishing time averages about once every 6 to 8 weeks, and at that someone is always disappointed. Also, the game does absolutely nothing for me, which is kinda sad because I have a natural talent for it.
  20. Catfish like what they normally eat. Do they normally eat chicken liver? No! Catch some bluegill or other type baitfish from the water where you intend to fish and cut them up. Head section is especially desirable. Bait the hook with the point well exposed for a good hook set, catfish don't care about the hook point. For larger channel cats and flatheads use live bluegill/bait fish, bullheads are even better. Happy catfishing!

  22. Never bring a knife to a gun fight. You seriously want to tackle a cougar with a knife? That's what Smith & Wesson make .44 magnums for! Same goes for any human threatening my life!
  23. Yep, I've fished the rope lure on both spinning and fly rods. Awesome fight on a fly rod!
  24. Very nicely done. I tip my hat sir.
