  1. My boat has only been on the water 3 times since the carb was rebuilt. First two times it ran like a champ at any speed. I was using Sta-Bil Marine those times. Last time out I used Startron and the motor did not want to run at no wake speed, sputtered/stalled/tried to stall at low speed but ran just fine at higher throttle. I'm going back to Sta-Bil Marine. I have used Sea Foam once. WOW! Talk about expensive! Makes the price of fuel seem quite cheap by comparison.
  2. I spend my time about 50/50, but no headphones and the volume is kept just loud enough to hear when on.
  3. I don't care who you are, that's funny right there!
  4. This weekend was my first out with Startron in my tank instead of Stay-Bill Marine, and my motor ran rough/stalled/tried to stall at low/idle speed. I think I'll go back to Sta-Bill.
  5. I don't know if there any closures due to smugglers, but Pipe Organ National Monument has signs warning visitors that they are entering very dangerous areas. Mexican drug gang gun battle recently left 21 dead just 12 miles south of the border.I hace a concealed weapon permit and I never go anywhere unarmed. I have at least 3 guns on board my boat when I go fishing. A .22 revolver loaded with snakeshot that I keep in my tacklebox, a M1911 .45 that is my designated boat gun that is kept in my boat bag, and whatever carry weapon I happen to be carrying that day, usually either a S&W model 59 9mm, or a S&W model 629 .44magnum with 4" barrel. It becomes more dangerous every year here, those who criticize our soon to be enacted law should live here for a few months and then see how they feel about it.
  6. I skip a quarter over the surface of the water before my first cast. The more skips it makes, the better the fishing.
  7. BPs and Cabels's sell polypropelyne skids to screw onto your bunks to increase ease of launching and recovery. I've only heard good things about them. I plan on installing a set on my bunks this year. They retail for $29.99 I believe.
  8. I once caught a 25 pound softshell in Florida. Seeing that photo of CWB holding a large one made me cringe. Those softshells are viscious suckers and they can extend their necks long enough to reach their tails with ease. He's lucky to still have all his digits!
  9. Didn't I offer my suggestions before refering him to a site with THE most well informed boating experts I know of? Why not be as quick with helpful advice as you are with the scathing criticism?
  10. The pickup in your tank should only be @ 1/2" off the bottom. It's permanently mounted there at the end of a tube that is where the fuel is drawn up..Check to make sure it hasn't broken off at the top of the tank and just flopping around kind of hanging sideways in the tank. Otherwise my only other guess is that your fuel system is not holding pressure as fuel is consumed. Check all fuel lines and connections for leaks. Replacing the primer bulb is cheap. Fuel pump rebuild? Also, go to iboats.com with your question. Very helpful knowledgeable people there.
  11. Go to iboats.com and ask for a manual. My wife found an original factory manual for my 1967 Evinrude 80 on ebay.
  12. My house has been a 20 year remodeling project. Figure how much that cuts into fishing time, both time and cash. I do get out occasionally though.
  13. Shades of Spencer Tracy in the movie of Ernest Hemmingway's "The Old Man and the Sea". Terrific movie.
  14. You get more casting power with length. I prefer longer rods myself. All my baitcast rods are 6.5 or 7 feet. All my spinning rods except my light weight panfish rod are 6.5 or 7 feet. The light weight, light action panfish rod is 6 feet. My 7 weight fly rod is 9 feet. I also prefer 1 piece rods. My 9 foot fly rod is 2 piece though, for obvious reasons. Many fly rods are 3 or 4 piece though.
  15. Fish become acclimated to being in an aquarium between a few minutes to 48 hours depending on the species. Once they have become acclimated to their new home they resume their natural behavior.
  16. Very cool! I'm just getting back into fly fishing after MANY years. I'm fishing for largemouth, stripers, and panfish. That cat would be awesome.
  17. I did not know that. I will check the level in mine this weekend. I have 2 of them in my boat. Thanks guys.
  18. I have a Heddon Punkinseed that I throw sometimes, although I have yet to catch anything with it.
  19. Monkeys! Monkeys all around me! Monkeys everywhere!!
  20. I never go fishing on holliday weekends. Far too many drunks both on the road and on the water, not to mention the lakes are almost paved with recreation boats.
  21. I put one on my boat 2 years ago. It's indispensable for me here. We have had temperatures over 110 for over a week. www.stocktons.com probably has the largest variety around.
  22. I use these baits nearly every time out. Jitterbugs, one frog pattern, the other black jointed. Hula Popper in perch pattern. DareDevil spoon in red and white stripe. An old Mirro-Lure I used to use Snook fishing when I lived in Florida.
  23. Cool! My official boat gun that I keep in my boat bag is a M1911. Great weapons.
