  1. The bait that works best for me for channel cats is frozen squid. It is very tough and stays on the hook until you remove it. Get it at any Asian supermarket. For flatheads I like green sunfish best. They are hardier than bluegills and live longer on the hook. If you have access to bullheads, they are probably the best flathead bait.
  2. In hot months I wear a white Columbia Bahama fishing shirt. In cooler spring and autumn months I wear a sky blue Columbia Bahama fishing shirt. In winter I wear a dark brown Duks Bak shirt.
  3. Looks like a pinfish to me. Good bait fish.
  4. I'll never go out on the water without a VHF radio. I've used mine to hail Vessel Assist when my motor broke down and they had a tow boat at my location in 15 minutes. Also, my buddy with a radio in his boat and I can communicate with each other no matter where we are on the lake.
  5. I figure I'm out on the water alone with no one to help me. I keep a complete socket set with short and long extensions and rachet, 3/8 through 7/8 open end wrenches, flat and philips screwdrivers, 2 vise grips, needle nose and regular pliers, electrical tape, duct tape, electrical wire, extra spark plugs & plug wrench, hammer, assorted hose clamps, tie wire, and extra fuses. There may be more in my boat tool box that I can't think of at the moment.
  6. I got a rod hanger system from Cabelas that holds 9 rods. I needed to drill 2 hioles for each strap (4 total) to install. It works great anf keeps rods off the floor and saft from breakage.
  7. I only use live sunfish for flathead catfish bait at night.
  8. At least 29 gallon. Only put in one. The dominant fish will harass and eventually kill weaker ones. I also recommend a poured resin "wood" stump that can be purchased at an aquarium store. Mine is hollow with roots that support the stump (like legs) and provide an area under the stump where fish can hide and swim through. I use plastic plants as I can't keep real ones alive. I also have 5" channel cat and a plecostomus cat (to keep the glass clean) in my tank.
  9. The floor rotted out because the factory didn't take the time and expense of treating the wood properly. Follow my directions and the floor will outlive you. Treat every piece of wood (old and new) this way. Buy fiberglass resin and cloth at Home Depot. Mix the fiberglass resin by the directions on the can, then dilute it to a thin mix with acetone. I only worked with about 6 ounces of material at a time to keep it from setting up too quickly. Paint every surface of your wood with this diluted mix and let it set up. Give it 3 coats. The diluted resin will soak into the wood where the acetone will evaporate leaving the wood impregnated with fiberglass resin. Then give it a final undiluted coat and apply the fiberglass cloth and give it a final coat. After this sets rough up the surface in preparation of carpeting. Buy your carpet and cut it to fit. Then apply carpet adhesive and install the carpet. Use a roller to smooth it out and avoid bubbles. I used a wooden baking rolling pin. This floor will last the life time of the boat. Happy fishing!
  10. I buy nearly all my fishing equipment and supplies from BPS, but I've never been to their store. I do it all online. Sure beats a 1 hour drive each way just to get something I can research and order and have delivered to my door!
  11. Wow! I'm really a minority here. I cast with only one hand. Never even tried or thought of casting with two! Huh!
  12. I have had only very positive experiences with BPS. Their BPS labeled products are first rate and customer service is second to none. I purchase nearly everything I need for fishing , boating, and outdoors from BPS.
  13. Now everyone gets to see (and feel) what it's like to live in Phoenix in the summertime!
  14. I can't remember NA beating NH in football many times when I was there. Is North Catholic still on the athletic schedules for NH and NA?
