  1. Had to mess with 5lbbluegil, so I decided to post the 13 lb mirror koi I caught on the flyrod. Fun fish, at least 15 minute battle. 5x tippit, #4 flyrod, dry fly
  2. Kind of a bummer for me, the Lucky Craft RC 1.5 has been one of my go to lures these past few years, and am guessing the waters are going to be filled with the new SK 1.5's.
  3. I love the stuff, never had the bottle clog or dry. Even if it did after a year, one swimbait repair would probably pay for it's initial cost.
  4. Stoked = crosseyed and headache? What size did you run to the tip with, bladeslinger? Actually, I would be interested in details of the blank and ALL guide sizes used. I've wrapped a 4 single foot just for practice kicks but, 6's are about all I dare wrap and expect to look good. Yes... we need pics! I used all size 4mm guides (fuji bmkog) in a conventional line (not spiral). I used a Kistler LTA Medium heavy blank (found on Ebay). The top was the only worry, it listed at 6.5mm and the largest tip top listed (4.5-6.BMCOT) Luckily it fit. Will work on pics. Those tiny feet are a little tough to wrap, I used the flexcoat guide foot adhesive to keep in place. Static test took a while to get spacing right.
  5. I just wrapped my first micro guide rod and I am totally stoked !. I just tested it out, and my casting distance overhand was dramatically increased (25-35%) and the underhand flip was even more dramatic (40-50%). Also surprising is I could back the cast control knob off on the reel and it seemed harder to backlash. I must admit I am perplexed, I had been so sold on conventional large to small guides. 6 1/2 ft Kistler LTA blank, 4mm Fuji Micro guides on my old school pistol grip.
  6. With some wind the gunfish really shines. In calmer waters I have more confidence in the spook.
  7. Sounds like a shad spawn. I have caught many a bass casting small jerkbaits near these schools. The bass are likely still feeding on them, but not as obvious as when the shad try to avoid the predators. The shad have only one thing on their tiny little minds.
  8. Yet another nice fish Paul. On a coffee grinder? Those fish are especially fun Lets hear the details.
  9. I read somewhere the fish was weighed at a post office for verification in the Field and Stream contest. My opinion- a post office would never short a scale and lose $$$
  10. Great review site. Can't say the same about it's forum...
  11. BPS rods are decent deals. I am not a real fan of the extreme line of rods, had them break on me. I have had serious issues with the BPS reels and will never buy another. I had two Rick Clunn models which were junk. Same problem- could not stand up to the use of braided lines.
  12. I have the LTA flippin stick and another LTA medium heavy. Extremely lightweight and very sensitive. I also have the IM7 crankbait which has a great action to it.
  13. I think the Florida strain likes the water a little warmer for topwater 68+. The clearer the water the better.
  14. I picked up a couple on clearance. It is a very good bargain. They are a little heavy though. Quantum seems to be working on making reels lighter now, so guessing new model shed an oz or two.
