  1. Welcome. My wife and I had fished together in tournys for ten years. It's great that you have that common interest.

    Howdy!!

Welcome. there is a lot of info here. Also a lot of good people willing to help with questions. Ask away.
  3. I used to work at a lumber store and used my cell to call back into the store. Called the hardware dept. and asked the guy to tell me how much the left handed metric crescent wrenches were. I watched him walk around and look for 3 to 4 min. Then he came back on the phone and said we were out of them right know but if I wanted to come in he would order one for me. He was dead serious!! I about pee'ed my pants laughing so hard.
  4. you're right flippin. Some people don't like the river. I don't understand why people shy away from a challenging fishery. I think it makes you a better all around fisherman when you challenge yourself. So what if your not catching 4 or 5 per hour. If were easy to catch fish all the time, the tackle and fishing industry would not be what it is today.
  5. I try both until the fish respond to it. I've gone so far as to put a large four bladed plastic blade on some and crawl it. You would be surprised how slow it will go. Paid off when nothing else was working one rainy day.
  6. I like to throw a spinnerbait that has three or four blades. 1/2 to 3/4 oz slow rolled. You don't get a lot of bites, but they are nice ones when you get them. I try to go with shad colored skirts. You can also slow roll a single colorado spinnerbait and it will produce some nice fish also.
  7. shhhhhh....... :-X Ditto, SHHHHHHH
  8. In a pond you are not going to miss out that much by trying a different bait. Go ahead and change when you feel like it.If it does not work, change again. The fish will tell you what they want. You can also Texas rig your senko and twitch it like the fluke.
  9. MM hit it on the head. Let me state that I'm refering to tournaments. I tried the K.I.S.S. method this past year. Reduced my selections by half or more. It didn't turn out to well. My year sucked. I can't totally blame it on the K.I.S.S. system, but it contributed. I may have done better with other selections or more to chose from. Next year won't be that way. I'm not even gonna have room for my partners stuff. :-? He will ask what do i need to bring and the answer will be terminal tackle and poles. Period I can see where this applies to fishing a certain lake all the time. There is a lake my wife and I went to a lot in the begining and we thru about the same stuff and caught every fish that wims there.
  10. Riverside Wooley beaver tail. Blk/blue swirl color. Not so much the bait as they still make them, but the color they did away with. I bought every bag I could find when I found out they quit that color.
  11. Here's my 2 cents. Yo-Zuri Rattlin vibe( gold/blk w/red trebles) Baby brush hog(grn/orange flake) My own custom plasitcs! Sorry for the self promotion :-?
  12. Hmmm Black. 10". You guys are sick. STOP! This not that kind of forum!! LMFAO
  13. Welcome.
  14. welcome Ed. What are some of the larger lakes you've been fishing?
  15. welcome.
  16. This may take more than a year, but no time like 09 to start. I'm gonna be the guy that no matter what lake, time of year, weather, lrg or sml mouth, everynoe else thinks, he's got a shot at winning today. The reason is that would mean I've managed my time well, put the patterns together, been versitile, been efficient and consistent. Not because I think I'm better than everyone. because I'm not! Many humbling days to my credit. :'(
  17. Did you ever go to the race?
  18. Where did you live in FL? I lved in W. Palm for a few years. That does spoil you on the fishing. Big O only 45 min away!!
  19. If I am going with someone else then i use a bag. I go thru much like the others have said and only take what I plan on using that day or weekend based on time of year, etc., etc. If not, then it all goes in the tackle storage in the boat.
  20. Welcome. New here myself. Fished Patoka about a dozen times and love the lake. West boggs is still a mystery.
  21. Think you'll have more than just chest pains after a plate of that sh%#$
  22. Never to late. CONGRATS!!!! Good story!!
  23. I'm a big Dale Sr. fan. My step mother is a sewing fanatic. Has a special room and multithousand dolloar machines. Opened the box and saw Dale Sr. fabric. I thought this might be cool. OOPS! Pulled it out and she was very proud of this "coat" that the arms were 3/4 length and the coat was almost too my knees. Would make some short old lady a great house coat. Oh, did I mention it was sewed upside down! Never wore it but get asked about it and if I want another every year.
  24. WOW!! Look out KVD! Were all in trouble now with this genius on the loose.
  25. "Don't worry about baits but more about covering and finding the right water. " ditto
