I actually gave up the power pro in favor of spiderwire stealth. I was having issues with the pp and tried the stealth. For my money, it will be stealth from here on out. Been using it for as long as stealth has been on the market.
There are some problems that occur with braid as a whole. I always use a backer line. Also spool the braid on as tight as possible. I take a cloth rag and grip the line so it has to perform a couple of bends through the cloth before it goes on the reel. Don't reel too fast and you will have to change positions about every 50 yds. or so
Hope that helps.
Professional fishing, I believe, is different. Your conduct, appearance, attitude and marketing skills affect your ability to attract sponsors. Without sponsors it really does not matter how much skill you have.
X2 only in IN. I know, IN? We do have five bass in this state. We just take turns catching them.
Thank you and all service men and women for their service and sacrifice.
I store mine in a rack that the handles slide down into pvc pipe and that is what supports the rods vertically. The actual blank never touches anything. They are stored in the unheated portion of the garage. The reels are removed for service and the drags are backed off. They get stored in the heated portion of the garage.
I have not heard of the reel seat area warping. Does mean it could not happen.
Good questions posted here. Old line breaks more often. I store mine out of direct light in a locker. I write the dates when I bought it. That is usually not an issue as I change line often.
When you tie your Palomar note do you wet the line before you cinch it down? Any friction when tying knots is bad in my eyes.
I usually throw traps on braid, even in open water. Cranks get thrown on flouro. 10-12# test.
When in doubt retie.
I think its the love of the outdoors. I don't hunt anymore so fishing is it. The challenge of figuring things out and to be able to get away from the phones and work. Life tends to surround you at times and it is nice to get away from it, even if it is only for a while.
Happened around here in 07. One lake we fish a lot was 6-7 feet low. Went out and took a lot of pics. Also used a handheld gps for the stuff that was high and dry. Amazing what you didn't even know was there. Didn't have a tourny there this year, but 09 we do.
I know this may sound strange, but try a shallow diver or medium diver on a carolina rig. I did this as a joke one summer and I'll be dam@# if it didn't work. Not just once either.
Yes, this is a good way to get some new ideas. The pros were doing it at Amistad and Falcon last year and the year before. I use a candle if I'm doing a few at a time. That way you can hold the two pieces without having to hold a lighter.
I think that both presentations have their place. I probably fish it texas rig more because I throw it around thick weeds.
The wacky can be fished around these areas also, but is not near as weedless.
You can catch a ton of fish on either set up. Try both and let the fish tell you what they want that day.
