  1. Veritas 7'6" MH no need to look at anything else!!
  2. Stump Bumpers out of Des Allemands. You?
  3. I hope we come in second too! I will scratch negreet off my scouting list. They are eating chug bugs, toads, and buzz baits now! Post spawn fish should be more willing to bite by the time we get there so the bites should pick up a little. I will be starting in Arnold throwing a spro frog in all that grass! Going to shoot across and check out Lowes also. Pirates produced some good fish for us but there is not much grass there either. Most of our fish came off of wood there.
  4. Are there any launches that dump you directly into Arnold?
  5. I caught plenty fish on that skinny dipper in that same color..I only spent a little time in Arnold and loved the grass and threw that dipper in there quite a bit but did not catch a fish. Nice to know they are there!
  6. I will be there with you I have a club tourney there next weekend, hoping to find something in the Negreet area as we will be staying in slaughter creek. If not it's south for me..
  7. That was exactly the pattern we used to catch them this past weekend.
  8. I used 10# co poly this weekend on toledo bend and this stuff is the real deal! Super smooth and limp and strong as heck. I hooked up with a 6 lber and had no problem getting it to the boat. I got snagged on a stump and could not break the line pulling with everything I had with the drag locked down. I am thinking about switching everything over to Gamma!
  9. Fished Lobi this past weekend. Finished 61st out of 6oo and something. Top water is on early closer to bank around points, fished 3 to 5ft submerged grass way off the bank with wacky rigs and split shot rigs with french fry worms. Later in the day hit points way off the bank in the 8-10ft zone with carolina rigs. My biggest fish caught was 6 lbs and my partner caught a 7 in pirates cove on a carolina rig. They were hitting pop r's and chug bugs pretty good at all times of the day. All in all a good weekend on the water. The key was fishing very slow and being very patient. With the high pressure and slow bite it is very easy to fish 30 minutes or so without a bite but you have to just fish hard and the bites will come. You can run around all day and miss the bite everywhere and not catch a fish. The bite was very spread out and came in spurts. We managed 14 lbs a day which put us in the money. Also caught some good fish on a skinny dipper swimbait slow rolled through the grass. Slow was key for everything we fished to get bit.
  10. x2 H only for punching you will want something a little softer for basic pitching.

I use mono for the same reason. You want your bait off the bottom as much as possible. I also try to use plastics with less salt.
  12. It really doesn't. The tip on the Vendetta is a LOT softer than the SR rod. Thats half the reason why I'm asking if I should switch them. If thats the case then use the Skeet for punching. I've never held one but everything I read and hear is that the SR rods are soft and whippy. I use 7'6" MH Veritas for frogging and have another of the same rod for jigs and bladed jigs(chatterbaits)
  13. I would bet that Reese rod has a softer tip than the Vendetta even though its a Heavy vs the MH Vendetta. I would probaly use the SR as a frog rod and the Vendetta for punching. I use a 7'3" H Vendetta for punching and its a little bit stiffer than it really needs to be.
  14. I recently started throwing a baby fluke weightless with a 2/0 Superline EWG. This gives it a nice even fall like a little sub marine going down! So far they like it..using 8# flouro and a spinning rod.
  15. I just ordered a 7'6" Duckett Micro magic M cranking rod. I had the pleasure of Marshaling for Ducket on the last day of the classic. He was using this rod to fish a square bill (although not very long) I can tell you he takes great pride in his rods. I have not read one bad review of any rod in the duckett line up. I will be using this rod for mid to depp cranking and lipless cranks. I went with the long rod b/c I like to really get as much distance and cover as much water as possible when cranking. I still have a shorter cranking rod I will use when casting around shoreline cover.
  16. My two year olds first fish! Plan on getting plenty more this summer as her technique has really improved! Vid http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v113/dirt2/?action=view&current=VID2000012-20100801-1712.mp4 After the fight!
  17. Yeah I was with Duckett on the final day as his marshal when he caught that huge bag... I know they are killer on the chatterbait just never heard of anyone using them on a scrounger..
  18. Was thinking about some things to try this weekend to imitate a small Bass or fry and thought about threading a watermelon 3.5" magic shad on a scrounger.. Anyone try this combo??
  19. Just do all your work on the straight part of the hook but leave it loose then slide it around the offset and pull it down tight. Pretty easy to do..
  20. He talked the whole time! He wished he would have went with that area fom the start..
  21. I am not buying it for one second. With the money they spend in gas they could go to the d**n store and buy food. We have too many meat hunters in our region that do not appreciate what Bass fising is all about. It's mostly due to the saltwater fishing in our area they think if they do not keep every dang fish they catch that they are wasting there time...It's really sad
  22. That looks alot like my arsenal down to the reels, baits and even the bobber stop...Must be Louisiana taste! I will have to get a couple pics up.

  24. Myself. I am a competition junky..I have competed in something my whole life so when I'm not involved in some type of competition sport I feel lost..I primarily raced my whole life starting with go-karts when I was 9 years old up until racing dirt late models a couple years ago. The mental competition sports is what interest me the most as my fat butt does not have the physical attributes to compete at much. When I got married and decided to build a house and have a couple kids I did not have the time it takes to compete at a high level in racing. If I cant give something 100% and put myself in position to compete with the best I just rather not do it. I turned to Bass fishing to keep me sane and really got hooked on the mental side of Bass Fishing. I grew up saltwater fishing and still do from time to time but to me there is nothing like Bass Fishing. It's the challenge of figuring them out and all the techniques used to catch them that interests me. I joined a club to satisfy my competition craving while doing something I love. When I feel I learn enough and have the time to step it up to the next level I want to fish some Bassmaster opens and see where that goes. My ultimate goal is to win one. may be a long shot but we have to shoot for something right?
  25. I noticed that also and was surprised to see him using that rod for cranking. It was over 7' so it had to be at least a MH and fast action. I thought the same thing when he lost that fish. I love all my Veritas but until and if they add an actual cranking rod to their line up I will keep using my E21 cranking stick...
