  1. I'd be willing to bet there are more fish caught on a trickworm than any other soft bait out there. There is not much innovation to a trick worm. I dont know to each his own thats what makes this sport so fun. I guess its all a matter of what you have confidence in. When i throw a U-tale,Ole Monster, trick, finesse, worm I know i'm getting bit.
  2. The colors and styles are endless and they catch fish. I like the fact that they have not been followers and started adding scent like everyone else. This allows you to use whatever scent you please. Personally I think the whole rage tail line is overhyped. Not saying they dont catch fish just think they are overated in my opinion. I actually prefer the perfect plastic line. the SK game hawg is my favorite hog style bait. Everything else is zoom hands down.
  3. Think im going to give a couple baits ive yet to try a shot. 6" dead Ringer Swamp Crawler
  4. Just picked up 6 bags of baits for $24 including shipping.
  5. The purple in gold LSU shirt did the trick this past weekend.
  6. My largest fish in my tourney this past weekend was caught on a ultra vibe speed craw with a pegged 3/4 oz tungsten sinker pitching to the edge of the thick stuff. I think I will replace my wacky rig with a shaky head for this weekend and see what happens.
  7. While I have been catching fish on a wacky rig this summer it seems that I am getting more strikes on a 3/16oz t-rigged presentation lately. The more I think about it the wacky rig since very light in weight has a very slow fall which to me would be better suited for lethargic cold water fish. During the summer with the fish feeding more actively it seems that the faster action of a weighted plastic would be the better choice. Am I wrong in thinking this?
  8. Just signed up today. Well worth the small fee, tons of videos and classic archives along with digital magazines for anytime viewing. There is also a pretty good mapping software that shows lake depth contours and such. Before I get blasted from someone saying that everything you need to know is here and free let me be clear. Those who follow the Elite series will get the most benefit out of insider....
  9. I would like to play, shoot me the id and password.
  10. Update - First fish landed with the Falcon lures wacky hook was a nice 3 lber. I'm starting to believe now. If the owner hooks came in a weighted version I would definitely give them a shot. The fish on the left was the one I stuck on this hook with a wacky trickworm.
  11. 5 fish 10lbs even, these two were 3 and 3.8 lbs caught on ultravibe spped craw and wacky rigged trick worm. The bite was slow today I was lucky to land these two. This was my third club tourney felt good to get a win.
  12. Mother nature is stronger than we realize. The effects of the knee jerk reaction from this administration can end up being the most damaging element of this whole deal. Makes no sense....
  13. Fished with Larry Louvell on Fork this past spring. Put me on an 8.4. Really nice guy had a blast.
  14. Saints will be stronger this year on both sides of the ball! For anyone who likes to read I would recommend reading Drew's new book. Highly motivational for anyone not just Saints fans.
  15. Whatever you do just be careful. Had to get a treble cut out at the ER this past weekend. Not fun!!
  16. That is the exact hook I have switched to. Maybe I will give it more time. All it will take is one fish for me to gain confidence I just cant beleive I've made two trips and have not landed a fish on it yet. It could be that the fish have been pecking the worm and not stiking the hook. My trickworm was chewed up pretty good at the very end of the worm. May try a finesse worm on the next trip.
  17. Yes it is
  18. Anyone use these? Could they be used as a stickbait replacement?
  19. Just a reminder to not take things for granted while on the water. This weekend I was trying to free up a crankbait that was hung in grass and when it let loose it came flying at me like a rocket and stuck in my calf. Needless to say I ended up going to the ER to have it cut out. Tried the old trick of pushing all the way through but ended up cutting the hook too short and pushed the whole thing in my leg. Was not a fun experience. Also always wear glasses while fishing. If that would have hit me in the eye with no glasses it would have been real bad.
  20. I was actually wondering if his success was due to fish seeing a bait that they more than likely have not seen in their life. I doubt it.
  21. Am I the only one that has zero confidence on hook sets with a weedless hook? I was using a reg finesse hook for wacky rigging and adding a nail weight for a little faster fall. While this was very successful for me I began my search for a wacky hook that was weighted and setled on Falcon lures weighted wacky hooks. While i've had several bumps since making the switch I have yet to land a fish and it is really messing with my head. I was hoping to gain some confidence in this hook before my next tourney which is this weekend so it does not look like that will happen. I will be using this hook but removing the weedgaurd. Is this all mental?
  22. So I called my Father in law Sat eve to see if he wanted to make a quick evening trip as I knew the fish were biting pretty good due to me fishing the day before. We get out on the lake and he has a classic 4" Luck E Strike Rick Clunn Tequila Sunrise worm T-Rigged under what looked like a 3/8 oz bullet weight. He is going on about how many fish he has caught on this worm back in his Bass fishing days after I asked if he wanted to use some of my baits I have been nailing them on which was a Watermelon Red SK Game Hawg. Of course he declined my offer and I let it be but I was really thinking there is no way in hell he will be fishing to his potential with this rig but figured I'd let him learn the hard way. To make a long story short he wore my A** out with this rig all evening catching 6 Bass ranging from 2-4.5 lbs while I had 1 nice 2lb fish and a load of dinks. It was an enjoyable and humbling experience and left me scratching my head. I was super happy for him to be honest b/c he does not get to fish much and has been listening to me talk about the nice fish i've been catching on this lake which he used to fish and never caught the size fish that is being caught today due to a diversion project. So I was glad he was able to find out first hand that I have not been telling fish stories. Anyhow it has me really thinking about how we so often over complicate our lure selection and always bite on the latest and greatest trends. While I understand the importance of versatility in our sport it also kind of reminded me of the old "keep it simple stupid" phrase. I tell you it almost makes me want to just stick with all Zoom plastics that are proven fish catchers vs spending loads of money on all the "Rage" and latest technology soft plastics if you know what I mean(no disrespect inteneded). I attached a pic of the 4.5 and a pic of a similiar worm except he was using Teq Sunrise. **You have to click on the second pic to view full view**
  23. Fishing a two day Tourney here in OCT. Can anyone familiar with this lake give me any pointers?
  24. The lake I fish averages 5-ft. I went out for an afternoon trip last weekend and the water temp was 98*!! I need to figure this thermo-cline stuff out. I found a hole thats pretty steep drop off and maybe 30 yards wide that goes down to 18-ft or so. There is a shallow island near by surrounded by shells. I think I need to give this area more time and maybe try to drop shot which i've never done before. I have thrown a deep crank in this area but not for long. I can't ever get this area off my mind, something tells me there is a hog down there. With the limited time I have on the water I always seem to go straight to the areas I have confidence in.
  25. Looks like the majority prefer straight braid. Now I feel better About using my Buzz Frog rod which is spooled with braid as my jig rod as well.
