I own a bunch, but throw 2 brands the most. Xcalibur XR50 and Strike King Red eye shad. The Xcaliburs has a louder, tighter, rattle. I also throw the 1/4oz SK red eye.
The rainbow looking ones? If so, I have 5 of them. One of my all time favorites. Excellent quality reel. A little heavy, but very well built.
Sweet combo. I'm looking to get some *** rods myself.
I have used XPS fluoro on a couple of my baitcasters. Its good line, not as good as Invizx. Its a little stiffer then Invizx. This is when I bought them about 3 yrs ago. I dont know if the newer ones are different.
The name is everything to a bunch of people. lol. They think if they're not fishing JDM rods and reels and throw nothing but $25 lures they cant catch fish.
Sweet! Did you get it from TW? They are have 25% off of Omens right now. I'm gonna upgrade my rods in the near future and am doing my homework on them now. I had my mind set on Dobyns Champions and Xtremes, but I keep hearing about *** ***'s and how excellent they are. I'm gonna probably get a spinning rod and a jerkbait rod to try out first before I load up on them. I hope they surpass my expectations.
Rod/reel brands are a personal preference thing, but If I were buying new rods and reels, I would get Quantum EXO's and Smokes and probably *** *** rods.
Heres what I do for plastics. I buy natural colors like pearl white, watermelon, green pumpkin, black, smoke, clear. Then, I also get a few wild colors like chartruese and bubble gum. That should cover everything you'll need.
I fish local reservoirs that require using a row boat and no motor. I currently have a Lowrance X96 but am looking to upgrade to a newer Lowrance, possibly an HDS model. I'd like to know if anyone has done this? Are they more complex to make it work? What would I need to get and do?
Thanks,
Ed
Like I've mentioned many times before, I have been a Quantum only user for 20+ yrs and have N-E-V-E-R had any issues whatsoever with any of them . They have been a pleasure to fish with. I currently use Energy PT's and Tour Edition PT's for both casting and spinning. The Quantum spinning reel is a great reel. Its very smooth, fantastic drag, and casts a mile. For your budget, I suggest to get the new Quantum Energy PT. It retails for $139, but can be had for cheaper on ebay or a retailers discount. The great part about this new Energy is that it comes with a spare spool made for braid.
