  1. i use 5 lb. maxima Ultra Green , a pretty strong , light line . i have never had a crappie break me off , i fish for them alot ..........
  2. i have a REVO TORO that has centrifugal brakes and a REVO SX that has an external magnetic brake . with the TORO , i have 2 brakes set on it and can cast 3-6 oz. baits on it with out messin' with the brakes , set-it and forget it kind of thing . with the SX , i find my self making adjustments from time to time when i throw varying weighted baits . i think the externally magnetic brakes let you really dial them in for specific bait weights , where as the centrifugal brakes cover more of an array of bait weights . did that make sense ?? :-? . anyhow , i don't favor one over the other , they both are good
  3. the moderators will change this for you , but post this in the ''other species'' section . you will get feedback there or hear from muskie fisherman in that section . quite a few guys fish muskie on this forum also .......
  4. the sx for the jig rod , the orra for crankbaits. a 7.1:1 sx for worms and jigs to reel up slack quick and set the hook and get fish out of cover . the orra in (don't even know the gear ratio ! ) 6.4:1 for cranks cause it's a little slower and perfect for crankbaits and while the orra is nice , i don't think it's as strong as the sx
  5. robo worms 4'' straight tail , drop shotted .
  6. do a search , it has been gone over many of times . you will find that it is often compared to vanish ..........
  7. it was your Shimano rep at the Bass-a-Thon !!!! : He was referring to himself. by ''someone here'' i was thinking some one from shimano .
  8. When San V was up I used to catch bass back in the sticks on weightless 10" worms which is pretty much a snake. Same with the north end of El Cap. i use 10'' power worms , ole' monsters , ss magnums too , but i guess i don't consider them ''snakes'' . what i consider as snakes are BIG worms like UPTON CUSTOM LURES giant 16''and 18'' worms that actually resemble snakes because of their size . http://www.hookeduptackle.com/m8_view_item.html?m8:item=Upton%27s%20Customs%2019%22%20Donkey%20Dong%20Worm
  9. for me , snakes don't work , i live on the west coast (SAN DIEGO , CA.) and i don't of anyone i know catching anything on them either .
  10. funny you mention a cork screw , i also have a bottle opener that has a corkscrew ;D ;D ;D
  11. i don't know , but props to trying to spread the joy of fishing to some who is disabled , i hope some one comes up with something !!!!!
  12. it was your Shimano rep at the Bass-a-Thon !!!! :
  13. speaking of backpacks , you can get a great backpack at wal-mart for dirt cheap that will hold alot of stuff . when i went , i grabbed 3 plano 370's from the fishing section , brought them over to the backpacks then proceeded to pick the best pack that would hold the 3 boxes and have room for other stuff . mine holds 3 plano 370's and all the stuff i mentioned above . this is the back pack , it's only $13.oo !!!!! http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11089435
  14. i forgot to include my berkely digital scale !!!! and some times i do take my digital camera but most times use my camera phone !!!
  15. alot people talk about this being the best fishing forum , well for me , i ony am on one other forum ( swimbait forum ) but i am mainly on this one and i don't need any others !!!! being on bassresource and sharing info and questions with fellow members makes you feel like you know them even tho you never formally met and they live thousands of miles away !!! pretty cool if you ask me
  16. needle-nose pliers , rapala hemostats , 100% deet bug repelent , philips screw driver , knife , razor knife , fiskar scissors , X-TOOLS pliers , soft tape measure , line pick ( for the occasional birds nest ) , worm blower , tweezers , misc. band-aids , rubber bands , tooth picks , sunglass cleaner cloth and that's about it !!! btw , i was cleaning out and re-organizing my backpack , that's how i know all the cr@p in there ;D , hey , it's 1:20 am , what else are you gonna do when you can't sleep
  17. get a big duffle bag (large travel bag) . as for me i got shelving in the garage , that way i can see all my stuff and find it right away . i couldn't see myself using all my tackle , there ain't enough hours in the day !!!! ;D . but i just put all my stuff i will need on that day in my backpack . it already weighs about 35-40 lbs. !! i use to lug around a OKEECHOBIE FATS bag that holds 8 370 boxes , that thing weighed a ton !!! so my advice is to take only what you are gonna use that day , for me it's 1 double-sided crankbait box (crank baits, jigs, top-water lures ) a plano utility box ( for my swimbaits ) , my BROWNING jumbo binder (all plastics ) , 2 4x8 terminal tackle boxes (hooks and such ) , and 4-5 200yd. spools of different # line , misc. tools (needle-nose pliers , scissors , measuring tape , etc. ) , and that's about it . hoped that helped :-?
  18. did you go sat. ??? i think i saw you there . that was a pretty awesome show , talking to Scott Martin and Greg Hackney was pretty cool , i must have talked to both of them for two hours or more . those guys are first-class fisherman , i learned alot from them . i can't wait for next year !!!!!!!! :)
  19. you can't go wrong with BIG GAME , as long as you don't buy it at wal-mart as you might get some 5 year old line !!! another VERY good line is triliene XL , i love the managability of it and is pretty strong ......
  20. pm reel mechanic ......
  21. i know alot of people are looking at rods in the $100.oo range or lower and want a good rod with split grips and good components , well i attended a big tackle show ( BASS-A-THON) and was checking out the OKUMA booth and the EVX model jumped out at me as a nice looking rod . it has FUJI ACS reel seats , ALPS stainless ring guides , IM8 blank , split grips (no fore grip) and has a life time guarantee !!!! . btw , no i'm not affliated with OKUMA nor sponsored by them !! . and to top it all off , they are only $90.oo !!! . so i just wanted to throw out some more options for you guys , here is the link on there website : http://www.okumafishing.com/family/297594/EVx
  22. TORAY does NOT there line no any one elses , talked to the reps at a big tackle show and asked them the same thing ( actually if they made it for CABELAS , wich they said they DON'T either . BPS XPS flouro is made by SEAGUAR ..............
  23. was at the bass-a-thon ( bass tackle show ) and abu garcia (pure fishing ) was there and offering 2009 model revos for a discounted price and if you bought a reel , you would get a free vendetta rod !!!! needless to say , i wish i had brought alot more money than i did ( bought a few swimbaits ( I HAD TO HAVE , LOL , :) ) i would have gotten a few more SX's and that would have been nice to get those rods , pretty good stuff , those rods ....
  24. talked to the shimano guys today and found out that the 16 strand line that is supposed to come out is a ''hollow '' braid , primarily used for salt water fishing by using a leader , knotless ( inserting the leader into the hollow braid , not a easy or fun task ) so i guess no really big changes for the power pro we use for bass fishing . i will continue to still use it , love the stuff , was looking foward to a little smoother line cause of the 16 strands , but i got the real deal from shimano today ..... :)
