  1. are you thinking about changing the color ?? cause that's what i would do if i had that reel !! it is definitely a reel that i want , but that paint scheme has got to go . wish Abu would offer that reel in either all silver ( like the revo s , revo inshore , etc..) or all black (that would be sweet !!!) was thinking that maybe if you take it apart (maybe when getting it serviced) you can have the yellow stripped off and heve it painted black by an autobody shop , cause when i get one of these , this is exactly what I'M gonna do
  2. you should have no problems getting your wiley's ....
  3. 2-10 lb. i use P-line cxx , anything above that i use Izorline XXX . gonna try P-line CX soon .
  4. type in "custom hand poured worms" in your search engine (google, yahoo,etc..) and you will find a bunch . here is one i found that you might find something you like - http://www.kbbaits.com/
  5. for me it is a 7'-7'6'' heavy powered , fast tip rod , the brand of rod is up to your liking . just get the best rod you can for your budget , lately i have been using my 7'XH Carrot Stix for throwing frogs , this rod is super light and has ALOT of backbone with an excellent fast tip that can really sling the bigger sized frogs a long ways .... btw, weight is always a factor when throwing reaction type baits when you make repetitive casts ........
  6. x2 on atleast a 1/2 oz. weight to practice cast , i would even suggest using a 3/4 oz or 1 oz. egg sinker and cast in an open area . as soon as you get the heavier weight down , start to go lighter and ease off on the spool tension knob till you can cast 1/4 oz. weights proficiently ....
  7. i have the shimano clarus 6'6'' L XF , i use it for crappie , blue gill , and trout . this rod is perfect for those species . has a soft extra fast tip but has suprising backbone . if you can handle one at a store , you will really like it . it also has shimano's life time warranty and they cost around 60-70 bucks !!!! btw , i also drop shot with it , a very versatile rod for sure
  8. you can't run it too slow , a medium slow retrieve is required to get the action going on these things , for deep grass flats i like them , but for the shallow places , i choose to go with a frog ...
  9. hit up the mats and lily pads with a Canyon Plastics 4.5" frog , punching mats with a Yum craw papi with a 1 oz. weight , runnin' thru light grass with a 10" power worm pegged with a 3/8 oz. bullet weight , and gonna try carolina rigging a smokin rooster this summer . i love summer time ;D
  10. been using the 4" flukes on a double rig and the bass can't resist
  11. nice spinnerbait rod , also good for texas rigged plastics ...
  12. if it is for bass , forgo the UL and get a LIGHT powered , ex-fast rod . i would suggest a shimano clarus 6'6'' L , ex-fast spinning rod with a shimano stradic ci14 2500 , spooled with 6# p-line cxx .....
  13. practice , practice and more practice !!! soon you will hardly ever backlash , everybody does that when they lose focus on the cast , i know i have !!!!
  14. by the way , the FUJI alconite guides are very good , they are in the CONCEPT line of guides . i'm gonna have them on my custom swimbait rods ...
  15. i haven't owned one yet , but i am looking to get some of their blanks to have some nice rods made , their blanks are super light . a 7'6''H sounds nice ! i am looking at getting a 76 M , moderate fast (cstaway 903) and the 7'6'' med. h , moderate (castaway 904). gonna be some awesome crankbait sticks !!!!!
  16. i like to fast crank them down to their running depth then slow it down just until i can see my rod tip twitching with the lures action . i love the DD22's , deep little n's , strike king series 6 , bomber fat free shad BD7's , spro little john deep diver's , and manns 30+ . oh yeah , i like the floating models .
  17. use a 3/8 oz. weight , good for 15-25 ft. as far as dropshotting , i like to cast it out up to 20 feet away from the boat , 16 ft. of water is a little close for d.s. directly below in my opinion .....
  18. a rod i would never buy ....
  19. that would make an excellent carolina rig rod and , for me , i would use it for frogs ...
  20. strike king red eye shad 1/2 oz. and 3/4 oz. in shore minnow and green gizzard shad .
  21. if you are bringing 4 or less combos , i would use this one http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20325&id=0012079014735a&navCount=1&podId=0012079&parentId=cat20325&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=UK&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true
  22. i rinse my reels after pier fishing with the spray nozzle in my sink , it is not very high pressure . i only use my REVO INSHORE for salt water , even tho it is made for it , i still rinse it after each use
  23. i like P-line in 6# for spinning rods , it does have some memory but is manageable , just change it out when it gets to bad. i use 10# and 12# for baitcasters , but am gonna try 8# here pretty soon (next time i re-spool ) should be very good since i throw alot of deep diving crankbaits and big worms(1/4-3/8 oz. bullet weight , texas rigged) so yeah , p-line cxx is some good line , just don't favor it in 15# and up . when i go 15# and up , i use Izorline XXX ....
  24. i thought you said for flipping and for swimbaits . do youcast the jigs or flip them ?? if i was just flipping them and using it to punch mats , i would get the XH . if i was using it to cast jigs and to flip plastics , i would get a heavy powered rod . i like a stiffer rod(extra heavy) when short flipping ( punching mats and soft plastics ) and a slightly less stiffer rod so i can get more on the cast and be able to fight the fish better when the fish is a ways away from me ( if you cast out the jig a ways). so that's my opinion , and it works for me
  25. i personally use nothing but ABU GARCIA REVO baitcasters . if your looking for a reel you can flip with AND throw swimbaits , get a REVO INSHORE . it holds 175 yards of 12# test line , i have about 90-100 yards of 20# Izorline XXX line on it . it has 24 lbs. of drag and is built solid , has a 6.4:1 gear ratio that can do both jobs efficently .i also have a REVO TORO and i would not suggest you use this reel to flip with , i use it just for big swimbaits . here is the link for the INSHORE - http://www.***.com/Abu_Garcia_REVO_Inshore_Casting_Reel/descpage-AGRI.html and a picture of it ...
