  1. be a little more specific !!! what size are you looking at ( 500,750,1000,2500,etc...) ?, what are you gonna do with it ?, what size and type of line are you gonna use ? all these things need be answered less somebody recommend a 7000 size saltwater spinning reel or a 500 size micro reel or ANYTHING IN BETWEEN !!!!
  2. this is the first tackle box i used , still have it in the garage (use it for pier fishing tackle) . http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_48270_999043013_650000000_999043012_100-22-1
  3. don't know the specs on that reel , but here is the schematics - http://www.reeldr.com/SCHEMATICS/ZEBCO%20SCHEMATICS/1994/ZEBCO%20QUANTUM%20QL550%201994.pdf
  4. i bet the person had it in the garage leaning up against a leaky car battery , no worm or bait of any kind would do that , it is a shame people try to make a manufacturer swallow the cost for that , no wonder they get finicky with warranty service : , that's MY opinion ........
  5. The only thing you're "supposed" to do with any bait is fish it in the water. I'm sorry, let me rephrase myself, that is the preferred method. i was gonna say , these baits are very versatile and can be fished thru the entire water column . i have had more "production" with the drop shot with the 5.5" and with using the 8" ones, they excell at bottom hopping as Ghotti said . it is up to you to find the best way (the fishes way they want em' !!) to fish them , i guess what i'm saying is that this is a bait that definitly has a place in your tackle box !!! btw, colors that , for me , work good are the 'threadfin shad" and "perch" .
  6. that is last years JME reel , i say you did alright . that reel usaully goes for $219.00 so even if you paid full price for the reel , you got the rod $20.00
  7. spend the $110 for this reel & free shipping . Lakeside reels are an excellent seller . http://cgi.ebay.com/Abu-Garcia-Revo-S-6-4-1-Baitcasting-Reel_W0QQitemZ290413876639QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item439e04159f btw, don't know if your looking for a leftie or right handed reel , if this is not the right one , check his ebay store and i'm pretty sure he has them , or just give him a call !!! here is his number (425)242-1714 , great guy (have done and will continue to do buisness with him !!)
  8. the 5.5" one is an awesome dropshot bait , i like to use it with a 2/0 Owner rig-n-hook EWG . that tail practically moves on it's own!! the 8" bait is fantastic texas rigged with those internal tube weights -http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44436_100010003_100000000_100010000_100-10-3 and the rattling ones are good too -http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44438_100010003_100000000_100010000_100-10-3
  9. i think moss green is pretty good in any water
  10. http://www.japantackle.com/ they sell handles from ZPI and BASSART . they go from 90 - 165 bucks
  11. the difference is that the Winch has a gear ratio of 5.4:1 , wich reels in 20.6" per turn of the handle , so giving you a slower retrieve , perfect for deep diving crankbaits . also with having such a low gear ratio , you get alot more torque wich translates into easier reeling in of those deep diving crankbaits .
  12. bought a Revo inshore from him a few months back , excellent guy to deal with , could actually talk to him on the phone , let me know exactly when the reel was coming ( sent it priority mail )(free shipping on my reel) when i decide to get another reel , it will be from him
  13. looks like a rebranded "code" -http://www.***.com/Quantum_Code_Casting_Reels/descpage-QCDR.html
  14. those rods are one and the same - "St.Croix legend tournament" :
  15. i have a SX , got to say i love it ! it is the 7.1:1 reel tho , but just the same , it is a very smooth , excellent casting reel . 6.4:1 is a very versatile gear ratio ( i have that gear ratio on my INSHORE) for a hundred bucks , i would definitely go for it
  16. if they would make a competitive reel , meaning a size 10 frame to start !!!! those reels feel akward as heck , very hard to palm .
  17. i have never had a problem with the uni-to-uni knot(for joining two lines) , that's all i use . that said , i have never had problems with knots , any knots . it seems to me that if you tie the knot proper and snug it down and it has been pre moistened , you won't have any knot failures . i use a improved clinch knot on braid(power Pro) , even brand new line and have never had a knot failure !!! so what i'm saying is , take your time and tie a good knot and you will be alright
  18. Seaguar makes Bass Pro Shops XPS flouro , not cabelas ..
  19. if you are talking about a Norman DD22 in blue back / chartruse , i catch quite a few fish on that bait even tho it looks nothing like any baitfish ;D
  20. uni-to-uni knot is the only knot i use for joining two lines
  21. instead of looking at the guide select from Okuma , get the EVX-A from okuma . that is the best rod out of all the ones you listed . this from ***- The Okuma EVX-A Casting Rods provide anglers with the precision of a technique specific rod without the big price tag. Each rod's action and taper are adjusted to perfectly match their specific application, providing the angler with the best possible rod for their given fishing pursuit. The rod blanks are constructed from lightweight IM-8 graphite, which is roughly 45 million modulus for added responsiveness, increased power and reduced weight. Even strong enough to stand up to braided lines, the ALPS stainless steel Guide Frames with Zirchonium Inserts further ensure strength and durability are maintained. Firmly securing your casting reel, the Fuji ACS Trigger Reel Seat, paired with the split grip handle design, helps with weight reduction as well. Only premium cork is used for the grips, ensuring quality comfort and a classic appeal. The Okuma EVX-A Casting Rods provide every angler with the affordable opportunity to own a quality technique-specific rod. Backed by Okuma's Limited Lifetime Warranty. and they are only $90.00
  22. did that to one of my swimbait rods , lucky the fan was going on a slow speed so it didn't break the rod , left a slight mark on it and thank god it hasn't weakened it at that spot
  23. i'll second that about the Pro Cure , i use the super gel in trout , it is actually made from ground up trout . it is a superb lube that stays on pretty good , in my opinion , the best stuff made in the scent / lube / fish attractant .....
  24. if you still fish with Carrot Stix , the 7' XH is an excellent double duty rod . it is a great frog rod with a 7.1:1 reel . it will also do great with jigs from 3/8 - 1 oz. , these rods got good backbone , was using it yesterday and caught 2 catfish on them in 40-50 ft. of water ( 1 was 4.5 lbs., the other a little over 5 lbs.) and it hauled them up easily
