  1. you should of went with Owner "beast" weighted hooks instead of those gamakatsu's , Owner beast 's hold your bait on there alot better and the hooks are superior to the gammas , oh well , you will like the rig-n-hook's tho , very good hooks that stay very sharp . here is a pic of the Owner beasts for next time , try them and you won't bother with the gamakatsu's .........
  2. don't even waste your money on Castaic/Reaction strike
  3. you asked wich baits to stay awat from , much to the poster a few up , stay away from castaic baits and reaction strike ( now are one and the same , reaction strike bought castaic) reaction strike makes garbage swimbaits that don't run true out of the package because they are mass produced very cheaply with no quality control , total waste of money . as for castaic , they haven't made worth while baits in years . the "rock hard" series was a joke !!! that's why you see them in the bargin bin all the time . if you want some good baits that catch fish , here are some good companies to buy baits from - 1. Huddleston 2. mattlures 3. Tylures 4. Natesbaits 5. Blackdog baits 6. 22nd century 7. 3:16 8. Spro 9. Rago baits 10. Cl8 baits 11. stocker trout 12. Triton Mike's bull shads 13. Osprey 14. JSJ 15. Tru-tungsten 16. MS Slammer so before you buy baits and you don't know to much about them , look on the internet for that certain bait and read reveiws , actually , just post on here your questions about the baits you are curious about and we will do our best to help you
  4. the only thing i use snap swivels for is connecting the swivel end to the top of a bobber and bending the snap out aways to hang from my line a little ways down from the tip , on my catfish setup , i use it as a line alarm ( to detect a bite ) while i'm fishing another rod !!!
  5. a couple of guys already said it , the rod he was fishing with that little swimbait was a Rogue , for guys that know those rods , check out the cork , dead giveaway : , for Boyd Duckett to use this for his advertising is ridiculous , what a shame ...........
  6. x2 , i never bed fish , wait , i take that back , i bed fish bluegills !!!
  7. Gary Dobyns was the chief designer of the bass rods for Powell ....... from TT - Background & Impressions: Leveraging nearly 100 years of rod building expertise, Keith Bryan, President and Owner of Powell Products, Inc., since 2002 has taken the company headlong into arguably, the hottest segment of today's fishing market, bass fishing. In our previous article, we shared with you, our discussions with Gary Dobyns, chief designer of the bass rod line, and what both he and Keith Bryan went through bringing these rods to market.
  8. i have checked out a few of Cabelas rods and i must say they are good rods for the $$$ , the rods are made by Reaction Strike (their baits are garbage but their rods are top notch !!!!) before anyone starts with the bashing , Reaction Strike makes very good rods , ask any muskie fisherman about musky inovations rods , they will tell you they are an excellent buys for the money . so yeah , take a look at the house brands that Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops has , if you can get them on sale , you can build a very good combo for not that much money .......
  9. none !!! i have 10 lb. Power Pro on it ( i put a 3-4 ft. leader of 6 lb. CXX on it ) and use it for dropshotting , weightless plastics , stick baits , crappie fishing , trout fishing , and bluegill fishing . i use it every time i go out fishing and it is very smooth , i'm very happy with this reel . i might purchase another some day soon as i want to have a spinning rod made for me soon and i will put on of these on it
  10. i don't think you are gonna need heavier tests , if this is used for standard fishing techniques , the 10 lb. line should do you well . i use 6 lb. for my spinning rod and 10 lb. for my baitcaster ( i use P-line CXX in 6 lb. and Izorline XXX in 10 lb.) and these line weights work perfectly . if you throw big swimbaits like i do , that is a different story !!! i use 25 and 30 lb. test lines for obvious reasons ....
  11. Rooster , you know i was kidding !! when paying good money for a rod , you HAVE to take your time and find the perfect one . i research ALOT about rods and try to gain all the info i can , i choose to go with having my rods custom made because i can't find one that is exactly how i want it , so i have researched all the components and come up with how i exactly want my rod to be like . when you buy a rod for yourself , it is for YOU and no one else , so take your time and choose what you want ............
  12. take it back , i have one and it is super smooth
  13. http://www.***.com/reelcast.html
  14. just buy a rod , any rod already LOL, just kidding you man !!!!! that powell seems like a good choice !!!!
  15. try posting this in the flea market , you are in the wrong section
  16. you might want to re-think the spinning rod for worm/jig rod , a baitcasting rod (a heavy powered rod, fast or extra-fast action) would be a better choice as you would want alot more backbone than a spinning rod can offer . but if you go with the spinning rod for worms and jigs , make sure you have a med.heavy rod that is pretty stiff so you can pickup line fast on the hook set and be able to move fish out of cover . and use braid ...
  17. what is your budget , maybe you can get some better choices if people know how much you want to spend . i , myself will tell you that you will get ALOT more if you buy quality gear rather than settling for cheap stuff that won't live up to your satifaction and crap out on you just to have you go out and have to buy better gear . check BPS and Cabelas for good combos , they usually offer better stuff than bottom shelf Quantum and Shakespear stuff , just something to think about here is a combo from BPS that seems good http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10205081_100003001_100000000_100003000_100-3-1
  18. Only until you try Diawa Samuri... yeah yeah , you and your Samuri
  19. as the title says , it is in the Cabelas clearance section , click on the Bassresource sponsors list http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0046975119281a&navCount=2&podId=0046975&parentId=cat603456&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=cat21406_feat&catalogCode=OG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat603456&hasJS=true
  20. in the places i fish , a limit is a rarity !!! the only limits i ever catch are fishing catfish , trout , bluegill , and crappie
  21. You shouldn't need to respool until you've cut off enough to impact casting distance. there are people that have the same braid on their reels for over 3 years !!!
  22. the original poster has last years model , they have the centrifugal brakes , that is why i said they don't have the dual brakes (infini brake system) . the 2010 model has the dual brakes like the premier .
  23. that is taken from abu's website , it is a typo . the reel has cenrtifugal brakes , not infini brakes ....
  24. the "infini" is short for Infinity Spool II Design , not the brake system . to my knowledge , they have the centrifugal brakes , just like the Revo S ....
