  1. like Tom said, whatever your comfortable with .for me i never use a rod under 7'6'' , all my rods are 7'7'' or longer as short rods feel awkward .
  2. about 14-20 lbs on my swimbait reel and i keep it locked down ....
  3. i would get a Ultra MBX 707 H or if want a shorter blank , get the Ultra MBX 700 H . i like a faster action and in my opinion the Ultra is faster and gets to the backbone of the rod quicker . i fish mostly 3/8 & 1/2 oz. jigs plus trailer . just had a Ultra MBX 707ML built , gonna pick it up tomorrow my next rod to be built is the 707H , for jigs and big shakey heads , then a 707Mh for bladed jigs , lipless crankbaits, texas rigged plastics , etc.. in my opinion and what i like in a jig rod , the K2 blanks have a moderate fast action which i don't like . the are nice blanks but for fishing jigs in deep water , they are not for me ...
  4. for better abrasion resistance , use Sunline Shooter
  5. stick with it , bring only that rod with you
  6. wait till the Fury 806 comes out ...
  7. seaguar is definitly stretchy !!! the major reason i will never use their lines . Sniper , in my opinion , the best all around Flourocarbon line you can get , not much memory ,very strong , and minimal stretch . if you want a stiffer line with even less stretch , pick up some Shooter
  8. both those rods are under powered for 8'' Hudds ( ROF 12 & 16) , if you go with an Okuma , you better get the XH and like Tom said , get the dobyns 806 ..
  9. if i were you , i'd give a call to Lew's as they have a fantastic customer service
  10. i have micro guides on all my rods ( casting , swimbait rod , & spinning rod ) tie a small knot and you'll be fine .
  11. closest you'll find is black or blue fleck
  12. i use the space monkey and smokin' rooster , great baits, are the only rage baits i use .
  13. definitely shop around !!! TW is good for reel purchases on their sales , but you can find them cheaper online , sometimes 30 -40 % off or more and yes , the BB1 Pro is most certainly worth the extra price ...
  14. there is the BB1 & the BB1 Pro , the BB1 Pro is $199 , the BB1 is $159 the reason for the cost of the BB1 Pro is for the 95mm carbon fiber handle and the ACB brake system , best braking system on a Lew's reel ....
  15. i tie a 12-15 ft. flouro leader to get the desired sinking of my plastics and to keep a bow out of the line for better slack line sensitivity , that 1 leader will usually last a few outings ...
  16. if he is thinking of lugging it , he might want to look into a back pack ....
  17. my favorites are on the more realistic side , for using on a shakey head or jig , i use the Savage Gear 3D craw and for punching i use the Savage Gear Rattling Reaction craw , both in red crawfish included a picture of a natural craw found in the places i fish ..
  18. sounds like the level wind , check for debris in it
  19. yup , not a chance that a Zoom horny toad weighs 3/4 oz. (22 grams/340 grains)
  20. Owner Shakey Ultra Head in 3/32 .....
  21. Zoom horny toad = 14 grams (1/2 oz.) ( 216 grains ) SK Rage Toad = 15 grams ( 231.4 grains ) Keitech Crazy Flapper = 16 1/2 grams (254.6 grains)
  22. don't get me wrong , i have SX1 on my casting set ups , just requested a sample of some braid from a company and really like it
  23. that's what i use , 10 lb. SX1 & 6 lb. Sniper , but i'm gonna try a different brand braid , will write a review of it once i use it
