  1. Actually the xps flourocarbon didn't do very well ...
  2. Years back when I decided to have rods custom made instead of buying stock rods , you get exactly what you want and don't have to compromise !!! What can be better than that ??? !!!!
  3. Biggest braid let downs = Suffix performance braid and Izorline braid , performance braid is really ruff and digs into spool, Izorline has no "body " or roundness to it , digs into the spool worse than performance braid ....
  4. Why people need "hard hooks sets " is beyond me !! Don't you guys use quality , sharp hooks ??
  5. 20 lb. Braid , I don't like stretch in my line . I have never had a problem with treble hooks pulling out as I am not one to do hard hook sets . Using sharp treble hooks like Owner ST-41's makes the need for crazy hooksets non existent ...
  6. I use the improved clinch for everything !!! A Palomar for dropshotting .. A uni to uni or an Albright for joining two lines..
  7. Stren sonic braid , best braid out there on the market ... I use 20 lb. As my main line...
  8. I use 20 lb. Braid in clear water lakes and get bit as if I was using flourocarbon !! I think line visibility is overrated ...
  9. ----- Toray Super Hard Strong ----- -Very abrasion resistant -Very strong -Very little stretch
  10. My favorite rod .. Rainshadow 944.5 7'10" heavy powered ,fast action Spiral wrapped with a Fuji 5.5 lowrider and 9 Batson SIC micro guides with a Batson braced 4 mm micro tip . 17" split grip handle with 2.5" rear EVA grip and Batson EVA tear drop shaped fighting butt . Fuji SKT graphite split reel seat .
  11. I 've been using 20 pound braid for a long time now. I used to use a leader of flourocarbon, but since I have micro guides , I stop using it and just used straight braid, I have noticed no difference in catching fish !!!
  12. call up Abu Garcia and tell them what you want to do , i'm gonna be changing my Toro over to the Toro Winch gearing , and my Inshore over to the Winch gearing .... BTW is doesn't cost that much (under $40 for the Toro to Toro Winch gearing and under $30 for the Inshore gearing ) hope this helped ...
  13. 3 to 6 feet leader length is plenty .....
  14. you want great handling , try some braid as the main line and fluorocarbon for a leader . i use 10# power pro and Toray Super hard Strong fluorocarbon leader for my spinning setups ( between 3-7 ft.) the fluoro i mentioned (Toray) is the best i have ever used , that Tatsu is too stretchy for me as i like to feel my bait all the time . i use the same setup on my baitcasters also (50# power pro and 16# Toray fluorocarbon) ....
  15. i use the 1/0 for 5" stick baits , using the Owner wacky hooks . i don't use them for drop shoting , i use a EWG Owner j-hook in 2/0 (6' Robo worm straight tail worms , Zoom finesse worms . 3/0 for bigger worms like the Zoom trick worm and Robo 7" fat worms) ...
  16. red eye shad ....... (in sexy shad or green gizzard)
  17. Owner 3x wacky hooks , with out a doubt !!! for 5" stickbaits , this hook is tops . can also be used as a drop shot hook . these hooks are super sharp and super strong ....
  18. the browning large or jumbo binder you get at BPS are very good . i have had mine for 2 1/2 years and it looks like new , and let me tell you , i stuff that thing !!! http://www.basspro.com/Browning-Worm-Binder-or-Replacement-Pages/product/10221610/-1740882
  19. can't believe Tackle Tour gave it such a high score !!! read the whole review and it seemed like a reel i would never buy :-? some thing ain't right with that review , for all the stuff that was off on that reel , and they said it was "great" , come on , seems like a reel comparable to a black max ........... 8-)
  20. cajon neon and greenpumpkin . as far as hooks , the best ones for the 5" dinger are Owner wacky hooks in 1/0 !!!
  21. give us a review on those smoke 100 reels , been wanting to get a few , would love to hear some feed back on how they are and comparisons against other reels !!! , thanks
  22. space monkeys are excellent flipping baits along grass lines and sparse cover with a 3/8 oz. weight . for punching mats i use the rooster with a 1-1 1/2 oz. punching weight with a punch skirt .....
  23. 50 lb. braid with a leader of Toray super hard strong 16 lb. fluorocarbon . don't like any stretch in my line , i make pretty long casts so i want as much feel as possible , leader is usually 4'-6' long .....
  24. when i'm throwing crankbaits i will use them . i use Decoy egg snaps , love them
