  1. that's probably the chemicals in the plastics , swimbaits often come like that , use a good scent on them , i prefer Pro Cure ..
  2. you are pretty much limited to hollow body swimbaits , until you get a rod suitable to throw heavier baits ..
  3. for a little while till they tear
  4. i've never seen that , spinning reels maybe , but not baitcasters .. You'd be reeling the oppisite direction !!!
  5. not to get into an arguement over it but there are times when a fish will shake a bait off and end up having it rehooked during a head shake , there were witnesses to his account of what happened plus video of the account .
  6. Savage Gear 3D real trout in 7'' - $9.99 , fantastic swimbait !! do you have a rod capable of throwing big baits ?? what rod do you have to throw swimbaits ?? that will define a lot about what swimbaits to get . let people know to give you some good recommendations .
  7. i had purchased a pack of them when they first came out , they do cause a lot of commotion on the water . as far as durability , the tail (flapper) comes off pretty easy , a lot of times caused by braided line wrap around it . it's a better top water bait than a buzz bait , in my opinion , or should i say that i would choose the Rage tail shad over a buzz bait ...
  8. Unintentional foul hooking is not illegal, intentionally foul hooking is , trap hook on a jig ??? Come on , really ???
  9. what ever hand you use to work the rod , reel with the other hand . i use left hand reels as i work the rod with my right hand .
  10. Shooter is a whole different breed , less stretch and a lot less manageable !! Shooter works phenomenal as a leader attached to braid , almost an extension of the braid but with all the abrasion resistance and no visibility . as far as using it as a mainline , i wouldn't . try a spool of 16 lb. Sniper , pretty sure you'll be happy ..
  11. on baitcasters , always loosen the drag , it's not good to keep it buttoned down !!! as far as storing rods , i keep my rods under 8 ft. leaning against a wall and my longer rods (swimbait rods) up on plastic coated hooks horizontly on the wall and i have fishing shelves holding baits that i don't like to keep in tackle boxes on .
  12. absolutely , Bass Resource is phenomenal !!!!
  13. very nice story !! awesome outcome , the seller is a good guy !!! :respect-059:
  14. you have to reel them in like you do swimbait fishing , get them to the top and reel constantly , surfing them on top of the water not letting them jump or dive down , that's the number one reason for lost fish on swimbaits that have a jig stlye top hook . When i hook into a fish while fishing a Hudd , i don't let the fish do ANYTHING !!!
  15. he forgot to add an unopened bag of ice !!
  16. Syncork(composite cork) is pretty nice !!
  17. another grip material i also like is Hypalon , the look of EVA but alot softer .
  18. St.Croix has phenomenal customer service , Vicky Nelson takes great care of you !!
  19. you got me then , i'm stumped
  20. if i wanted a rod like that 873 , i would have it built on a St.croix 5C71MHXF-B , would Citra-strip the blank down to the raw blank , would wrap with micro guides , fuji skt split reel seet and have split EVA grips . would be a lot lighter and stronger and ridicously sensitive, a killer 3/8-1/2 oz. jig rod ....
  21. they checked that scale they used and it was good , that fish would have been a record even though it was hooked outside the mouth , as long as it wasn't intentional (foul hooked ) i fish Dixon lake regularly , it gets hammered !! there are big fish in there , i will catch one soon ...
  22. looks like a stick bait that has been cut short and then had a lighter taken to it , that's exactly what it looks like when you burn the end of the bait and it keeps melting causing the burning plastisol to ball up , give it a try ...
  23. i bought the 40 size cause it was on sale , didn't know if i would like it so it sat for awhile , now that i'm using it finally , i love it
