  1. i use 20 ,25 , and 30 lb. izorline XXX for swimbaits but for t-rigs and top water i think 20 lb. is way too much line !!! use some 12 lb. or 15 at the most and even that is pretty stout line !!
  2. TW has a bunch(Zoom Super Speed Craw) , some of the colors are sold out but a lot are in stock
  3. what are you looking for ??? TW has a bunch of their terminal tackle ...
  4. i fish rats in the fall , frogs in the summer . being that there is more top water grass(slop) in the summer and frogs have single or double hooks that don't get hung up . most rat baits , and i'm talking swimbait rats that have bottom treble hooks, i fish shallow or next to tules also paralell to banks and get good blow up/hook ups !! the spro rat is a good bait !! i use that and some rat baits i make my self .
  5. very true about St. Croix , my rod is rated 3-8 oz lure rating but will handle double that !!
  6. don't now how long this will be up but discounts for their sales are deducted in your shopping cart before checkout ..
  7. ok, seems really short and would be difficult for two handed casts, good luck on your build !!!
  8. just noticed this is related to the other post you have going that i responded to , in the other post i recomended the Phenix Recon 2 7'9'' heavy / fast rodrated for up to 2 1/2 oz, well that rod would definitely throw those baits(glide baits) well , the rod i recommended above would be very good for those baits and also handle bigger baits . whatever you choose , get a fast action rod , not a moderate fast rod !!
  9. seems to be a fast powered rod which is what you want for glide baits . take a look at Phenix's Ultra 7'9'' heavy powered fast action swimbait blank , rated 1-5 oz. . then you can pick out the bling you want for the handle and such like JDM rods , you should have a very comparable rod for a lot less then JDM prices .
  10. give us a review if you would !
  11. you are gonna be happy with the custom !!! they are such a pleasure to fish , you'll kick yourself for choosing a factory rod over a custom ...
  12. kinda like an Outkast 401k jig , they have a crawfish tail that digs in the bottom , probably what that jig you have is supposed to do .
  13. my recommendation for a glide bait rod for the baits you stated , keep in mind that if you choose to go with bigger baits , you will need to upgrade to a rod that can handle those baits . Phenix Bass Recon 2 model PHX-C796H - 7'9'' heavy powered / fast action rod rated up to 2 1/2 oz.
  14. you should be fine with a heavy powered flipping stick , i prefer a fast tip to impart action on long casts , but everyone has their own opinions . those baits only weigh a couple of ounces , most people prefer longer rods for more leverage on the cast and for hooksets on long casts .
  15. they just don't get it .......
  16. remember that Mend-it is not a glue but it causes a chemical reaction that fuses the plastisol together .
  17. are you referring to Mike at DVT ???? suggestion . go with micro guides , better casting !!! have a rod built how YOU want it , that's why they call it a custom rod ...
  18. if going custom (which you definitely should !!!) consider building it on a Phenix blank , take a look at the Ultra series of rods/blanks , check out the UMBX-700MH blank , a 7ft. medium heavy / fast action ....
  19. educate your thumb by LOTS of practice pitching, start with short pitches and increase distance and getting your thumb trained to lightly feather the spool till your confident in your pitches without getting any birds nests .
  20. call and talk to Sonny at Abu Garcia's cutomer service , he will hook you up !!
  21. i hope after all this feedback that you at least purchased 1, if not 2 or 3 !!!!
