  1. make it easy on yourself and get some tungsten jigs .........
  2. give DVT a call for a custom rod to be made , I've had many talks with him and he is very knowledgable , patient , and will help you with all questions and concerns
  3. i completely agree with you !!! knowledge = priceless ....
  4. i don't like colored rods , i Citri-strip the blank down to it's natural graphite . my reels i like black to match the rod . i have a Pflueger Patriarch Magnesium spinning reel that is dark blue but it blends well with the custom Phenix rod i have it matched to. so yes , i like them color matched ....
  5. the scent i use , Pro-Cure super gel also acts a lubricant on the bait so that when a bass get's it in it's mouth , you can set the hook a heck of a lot easier , really makes a tremendous difference with soft plastic swimbaits like Hudds and such ...
  6. they work for me , i have a lot more bites than without scent . i never use plastics without some Pro-Cure on it .
  7. study grasshopper !! ( and watch a lot of videos of how to )
  8. i guess i take the artistry out of rods i have built for me , i order all components and blank and know exactly how i want it done , so i don't give the rod builder no creativity . just want it how i want it , that for me is a full custom (of MY design) .... i guess i'm not the optimal client
  9. when you want a custom rod built ,you should research eveything and all components and you your self visualize how you want the rod , then precisely communicate that to the builder . if you know everything you want on your rod , seems you should know how it would come out ...
  10. by dealing with a reputable rod builder and this day and age of email, text and sending pictures in text , i'm sure if you asked , the builder can keep you updated with progress pictures if they are so inclined .
  11. i was looking at those too , i don't paint lures , but am interested in the finished ones , almost all of them sell for around $1-2 each , even if there are some duds in the bunch , if i buy 10 or so i'm sure it will be a good buy , thanks for commenting !! them having a lot of blanks is why i posted in this section (tackle making ) so others might be interested ..
  12. fishing for me is the anticipation of the bite while working artificial baits , knowing your working the bait just right and that any moment you'll feel the bass hit it , is what's it's all about !! fishing with live bait is just '' reeling it in '' which is not all that exhilirating ...
  13. gots to love a jig with an Owner Cutting Point hook !!!! flick of the wrist and the fish is ON !!!
  14. edit - the bait i was interested in is only $.99 ....
  15. when you say wake baits , are you talking top water baits , the small swimbaits , or what ??
  16. just checking out their website and they have ridiculous (cheap ! ) prices and the finished lures have pretty good paint job/finishes on them , i know they are not name brand baits , but for the price , they look pretty good !! also their lure blanks look good too !! pretty good selection of both . i mean for $1.50-$2.00 a lure , seems like i might put in an order , says free shipping !!! here's a sample of one of their twitch baits i like , price - $2.50 !!!
  17. There you go , that's what BDfishing, needs to see !
  18. i use Boca ABEC 5's with the metal shields , they work great and i don't feel the need to go to ABEC 7 or ABEC 9 bearings
  19. You'll get a mixed bunch of opinions depending on what they have !! My opinion is that they are both good and that the difference is miniscule ....
  20. you know you can post pics of them , if you want !!
  21. i would suggest 10 lb. braid , very thin but still strong ...
  22. yeah then your best to stick with ROF 5 and 12 , and if your in really shallow water(2-5 ft.) try that Savage Gear shallow runner or a ROF 0 hudd ...
  23. dang that's a short handle on that rod , what is it 9 '' ????
