  1. your best bet for throwing swimbaits is using a good co-polymer line , braid is okay using top water baits like rats , but for glide and sinking baits , co-polymer line or even flouro is the way to go ! the less knots/connections you have , the better
  2. BP has the Shine Glide http://www.basspro.com/Savage-Gear-3D-Shine-Glide/product/2233596/
  3. here are some 6 '' ones = http://www.ebay.com/itm/20ct-6-Mister-Twister-CHARTREUSE-SILVER-FLAKE-Curly-Tail-Grubs-Bass-Northern-/281675862546
  4. the RoboWorm curly tail 5.5'' in sexy shad is pretty close - edit - look at next post
  5. i really like American Tackle guides , that said , i use their Duralite and Nanolite heavy duty micro guides . the Duralite guides are high grade Aluminum Oxide , the Nanolite are a Zirconium blend .
  6. has anyone had this done and can you post pics of the reel please ! http://www.mikesreelrepair.com/custom-reel-coloring-c-245.html
  7. for me it's all about finding a a company with great products and great customer service ! i switched from Abu Garcia reels ( still have them and use them on other rods that i use once in awhile) to Lew's reels . daiwa reels never once considered . shimano's customer service made me never want to own anything they sell . as far as rods - it's all about what companies sells blanks , as i will never buy a factory rod ! Phenix and St. Croix are the only 2 blank manufactures i will ever buy as their blanks are fantastic with fantastic customer service !!!
  8. i totaly agree with what Aaron Martens says about the line being tighter to the blank and less slack in the guides ! totally makes a LOT of sense ! i use micro guides on ALL my rods (spinning casting and even my swimbait rod ) plus all my rods are long (7'8'', 7'10'' , & 9') so weight reduction on already tip heavy rods are a major plus !!!
  9. it's the opposite with me !! i use 30 lb. 832 in neon lime and i think it is a lot smoother through the guides , plus i love the color of the neon lime . Power Pro and Sufix performance braid are the roughfest lines i've used .
  10. the 7'6'' H looks like your best bet since it has a longer handle for better casting .
  11. i imagine they will , they are gonna be a lot smaller than his regular rear grips ! hoping to imitate the eva i have on all my rods .
  12. oh, i thought it loaded , here it is ! it's the locking nut from a SK2 reel seat , much better and comfortable than that metal banded nut on the ACS .
  13. seriously considering some custom carbon fiber split grips from Riley Rods !!! gonna try and get the rod around 3 oz. .....
  14. going to pick my Phenix 707Ml blank tomorrow morning , just came in today !! thanks for the suggestions and help , as always , very appreciated
  15. i'm gonna go with the Pro Wrap 822 silver smoke like Scott suggested , thanks !
  16. if you swap out the locking nut and replace it with this !
  17. maybe i've been lucky with other lines because it's only happened with CXX
  18. try a mojo rig with a plastic that has good action , fished with pauses .
  19. i used to use P-line CXX in 20 & 25 lb. line for swimbaits till i unfortunately learned that if you get a kink in the line , no matter where in the spool , you can & will have break offs !! i learned the hard way , getting break offs any where from 5 - 25 yards up the line , with my swimbait ... only time i use CXX is in 6 lb. line for trout , i respool after each outing .
  20. That silver smoke looks great ! Might work very well for the Phenix ! Thanks for the post !
  21. I stripped the colbalt blue off my St. Croix Big Nasty , so now it's raw graphite color .
