  1. that's the coils of your line going through the guides , that's why a lot of people (myself included ) are switching to braid as the mainline , with a flouro or mono leader . that's the whole reason for the microwave guide system , a funneling first guide to small guides to take the coils out of the line as it passes through the guides making for smoother , more accurate , & longer casts ...
  2. i use 10 lb. Sunline SX1 on a Pflueger Patriarch 9525 (1000 size) and this line is very thin and strong , i see no reason to go lighter ....
  3. you talking about this New old stock G.Loomis blank. Up for bid is a custom built 7' medium spin jig fast action G.Loomis Im6 graphite model. It is rated for 6-12# line and 1/8-1/2oz. This rod has a fast action, with lots of back bone. I used an Aero reel seat, grade A cork, Alps guide set, and a metallic copper wrap. It doesn't have the original label, but Loomis guys will recognize their signature ferrule design and graphite.
  4. Fall = swimbait time when the trout plants start
  5. it probably was riveted , take it back for an exchange
  6. looks as though their reels are re-branded kast king reels or some other chinese reel ...
  7. one of the top customer service departments in the industry $50 for replacement plus $15 for shipping ....
  8. victim of the triple copy & paste
  9. another choice for a lipless crankbait , and i hear it's a real sleeper , is the Damiki Tremor 65 which also comes in a silent version !! ( also with rattle version )
  10. called up Point Blank & talked to Jim Isling this morning and i think after talking to him i will go with the PB761MF blank & later go with one of the blanks coming out soon .
  11. 3 transition guides after the stripper guide is the only way , in my opinion , to do a spiral wrap
  12. Sunline makes pretty dang good braid !! i love the SX1 , i have it on my spinning rod and am gonna put some 30 lb SX1 on my baitcaster ..
  13. i think that is the main issue , not the strength of the braid and wanting to move up in line weight , but there is probably the issue of how tight his line is on the spool ! I , myself never re-pack my braid on the spool and do not seem to get dig-ins and right now i'm using 20 lb. braid ,but i guess my braid never gets that loose on the spool .
  14. I also use 30 lb. braid for frog fishing , now if i was punching heavy mats i would maybe switch to 50 lb. but i have no use for even 65 lb. braid much less 80 lb. braid ! your casting distance with 80 lb. Power Pro will dramaticaly decrease throwing buzz frogs like you like to throw , i can maybe see you getting long casts with the big 1 oz. Spro , but buzz frogs , not unless you use a big weighted hook !!
  15. the real question is what size jigs is the OP using ? what kind of cover? how deep ? 1/4 oz. jigs can be fished on a medium in some situations as a 5/8 -3/4 jig would need a heavy/extra heavy rod in deep water on a long cast , lots of varibles ...
  16. i myself would go with a St. Croix SCIII blank ( St. Croix 3S70MLF2 ) if your keeping cost down , but would preferably get a SCV 5S70MLF2-B
  17. you would be better off with the extra heavy 855C JWR ....
  18. i totally agree with you on the whole treble hook delicacy thing , a hook is a hook ! i treat hook sets & fighting/landing fish the same , if you believe all the talk about trebles , you essentially believe too much pull on trebles will rip out a basses mouth , then what about a wacky hook ??? ...
  19. which blanks did you build on ? is the finish on them painted or just a matte cear ? not interested in the free components as i would trade them for some tackle , i am building my rods with composite cork .
  20. check out the SILENT version of the red eye shad , i think it's the best model made ...
  21. it's for connection of the brake side side cover , some reels designs have a different side cover release/removal , it also gives alittle strength to the reel between the side plates giving more integrity to the reel . it has nothing to do with casting ...
  22. anybody build a rod of this blank or have you used these blanks in your own rods ?? wanted some feedback on how they are as far as tip and backbone , very interested in the PB761MHF , thanks
  23. like J.Francho , said , you must be using the soft version , cause regular hybrid is awfully stiff , just couldn't image regular hybrid in 10 lb. on a spinning reel , i was joking about leading someone to disaster , we all share are experiences here and it's always appreciated ...

  25. 10 lb Yo-zuri on a spinning reel !! , you're leading some one to disaster !!! i couldn't imagine what a nightmare that would be unless the person had a giant saltwater spinning reel , even then that would still make a terrible birds nest big enough for a hawk or two to live in
