  1. i use the improved clinch for everything , only time i use a palomar knot is when rigging a drop shot .
  2. hedgehog has some for shimano's & daiwa's , but they'll run you almost $200 .00 here's a reel quite a few people like , check out Japan tackle -
  3. i had a 40 size (9540 ) Pflueger Patriarch , it worked great but was just too big so i traded it on a 1000 size (9525 ) patriarch and let me tell you it is absolutely fantastic !!! holds plenty of 10 lb. Sunline SX1 line , the drag was a little weak , needed a little more stopping power so i cleaned the drag washers that were greased and re-installed them dry and now the drag is perfect and still silky smooth . plus the reel only weighs 5.6 oz. , making my spinning set up super light and sensitive .
  4. i just read that article from RodMaker magazine today !! http://www.rodbuilding.org/library/blankstrength.pdf
  5. i tried texas rigging them the other day , and i'll tell ya , i just feel that keeping the bait in the strike zone is kinda hard if you don't get a bite on the fall . for me , wacky rigging them is a lot better for me cause i can have that shimmering action on the fall but when it goes to the bottom i can lift it up again without it moving much out of the zone in which i'm fishing . it seems as though when i texas rigged it , when i went to lift it up for it fall again , it shot around like a fluke and moved quite a ways and that you can't impart any action on the bait like you can when wacky rigging . one thing i'll say for texas rigging them , they sure do cast easier and a lot farther ...
  6. the thing that rings true to what you're saying is that it all user's preference ! daiwa reels never felt comfortable in hand & shimano's customer service makes me never want to buy their products , ever . i used to use all Abu reels but made the switch to Lew's reels and i must say i feel no need to go elsewhere .
  7. that seems like a lot of hardware to put on the front of a finesse bait ....
  8. it's not the new tournament pro or Tpro , it;s the new version of the tournament lite
  9. maybe not the Luna , but this one is .. then again , i will never use a round reel as i prefer low profile bait casters ..
  10. i don't know about that , i think the ACB brake sytstem is a lot better than Abu's the reels are smaller making them palm better and alot of the reels come with better , longer handles .
  11. another finish that quite a few people use is floor finish try this one - https://www.pledge.com/en-us/products/pledge-floor-care-multi-surface-finish
  12. moderate rods load better but fast action rods are better for hook sets .
  13. i picked to not have an anti-backlash reel cause i like to make long casts , i think an actual reel that made it impossible to not backlash would limit your cast , i guess i like to push it as far as my thumb will let me ...
  14. i think there is another side to this in that it is fun to catch a bass on something out of the norm , if everybody just wanted to catch fish consistently , every body would just throw Senko's ! i like to throw big baits , trying to emulate a injured trout , yeah , i might not get a bite at all for three outings straight , but there is that anticipation of it that drives me . there is always the thrill of '' what if '' i can have the bait get bit no matter how big or how strange the lure is ...
  15. try a long leader , you'll get better action on your baits plus you retain all the benefits of better casting , line managablity and sensitivity . increasing your leader from 2 -3 ft. to 10 -15 ft. you will notice a big difference because of the flouro sinking , causing your line to be straighter , increasing sensitivity and hooksets !
  16. i use a long flouro leader , usually as long as the depth i want to fish . most of my leaders are 10 - 15 ft. , that way my bait will get down to depth and not have that bow in the line making for better sensitivity . on a moving bait you might want to go with flouro as your main line .
  17. tried to look him up but his website is no longer up
  18. if you look at most of the savage gear product videos , they are all targeting and catching pike , i'm sure they are trying to market them as dual purpose into the bass market , yeah , i'll eventually buy the rat because i like the top hook option , but i won't buy the duck ..
  19. most all cleaners are harmful if precation is not used , i use the stuff outside and use gloves .
  20. the simple answer is YES ... the overall best flouro as far as stretch, strength , memory , and cost . absolutely great for leader to braid !! i use long leaders (10 - 15 ft. ) tied to braid , also one of few flouro's that are great as a mainline . also one of the stronger flouros .
  21. brake cleaner works very good also
  22. if and when you do have the guides re-wrapped , have them use a Forhan locking wrap .
