  1. black 10'' powerbait worms are the best worm i've ever used !!! i do also use Zoom ole' monsters and ss magnums .
  2. use a OWNER BEAST twist-lok weighted swimbait hook , they are the best out there , i recently got rid of all my gamakatsu and mustad hooks and have gotten all OWNER hooks , i also use the un-weighted BEAS twisloc hooks for weightless plastics and also for my frogs (rage tail toads) you will not be dissapointed . btw , in my opinion , those gamakatsu swimbait hooks have a too heavy of wire so that they really tear up the baits head.
  3. i just got the power handle from bass pro shops to put on my revo sx , it went on in 2 seconds !! and it feels so much better . its the same length as the skeet reese revo and the winch . i'll post a pic of it later . so for any more revos i get , i will definitely be getting the xps power handle , for $9.99 it is well worth it.
  4. my two favorite lines are trilene xl and izorline xxx in smoke , both handle very nice and are very strong !!!
  5. alot of people ask me that when i check lures and plastics at the pool in my complex . they look at me crazy cause i'll ''fish'' for awhile on one lure or plastic, then tie on something else and be there for a good hour , people just don't understand ;D ;D ;D
  6. just got a 7'xh from basspro shops , was debating on a carrot stix or a shimano cumara 7'2'' mhxf , needless to say i got the carrot stix . i think this rod will be great for frogs and deep diving crankbaits ( i love heavy action rods)
  7. im hoping its gonna be a great blank , went with the 3-8 oz. so as to not overload the blank cause i am looking at baits up to 6 oz. or slightly more . the guy i have building the rod owns 3 of these blanks and says they are very good for the price . i hope he gets it done in the next couple of weeks , im very impatient ;D
  8. i picked flouro , but i ALWAYS use power pro braid AND a flouro leader , when fishing frogs , just the power pro .
  9. pulled the trigger on getting me a swimbait rod , i have went over every swimbait rod out there and finally came to the conclusion that i should just have one made just how i want !!!! so it's gonna be a 7'10'' rainshadow swimbait blank , 3-8 oz. lure rating with split EVA grips with a fuji ACS reel seat and fuji concept guides !! it's getting started on next week , so in this next week it time to get 5-10 swim baits any of you fished a rainshadow swim bait blank ??? any responses would be appreciated , thanks .. btw , i am putting a REVO TORO 51 ( left-handed) (5.4:1) on it ...
  10. those things are way too small and for $15.00 , would never even think about getting me one , for that kinda cash i would rather buy numerous bags of rage tail toads and gambler toads !!!!!
  11. those are '' x-tools'' , i use those also , i fish with braid 95% of the time and am always cutting power pro with them . cuts nice and clean and can get in close to cut you tag end really close if you want btw , they float too !!!!!!
  12. i have never used them but the basstrixx ones look very good ( threadfin shad and hologram shad colors ) im very tempted to get some
  13. like FOURBIZZ said, use a jointed WAKE BAIT !!!!
  14. use a uni-to-uni knot , make sure you wet the knots good . i use this all the time cause i use power pro braid ( 30 lb. ) and join a 3-6 ft. leader of flouro for all my fishing ( cranks ,dropshots , topwater , jigs , shakeyhead , etc.... )
  15. i caught a 4 lb. rainbow on a rapala DT10 silver shad color http://www.***.com/descpageHARDRAPALA-RDT.html# thought is was a toad the way he was fighting , oh well , sure did taste good tho ;D it amazes me that a trout will hit a good size crankbait like that , i was using a 15 lb. flourocarbon line leader attached to 30 lb. power pro braid , but then be skittish around anything other than 2-4 lb. test line when im using powerbait or nightcrawlers and TRYING to catch trout :-?
  16. want to hear your thoughts on what line you use on your swimbaits . what i mean is what brands , lb. test (for what size swimbaits) , flouro ,mono, braid, let's hear them , please
  17. don't use split rings , get yourself some offshore angler ''duolocks'' snaps , size 3 , they are 40# rated and work fantastically well , i think T-RIG uses them also . i hate split rings , i like to even take the split-rings off of crankbaits too , i then use the size 1 rated at 20# . hope this helps .... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_30043_151005009_151000000_151005000_151-5-9?ordProd=Y&CMID=TOP_selectitems#itemDetail
  18. my favorite frogs are canyon plastics (4.5'') , ragetail toad , and gambler's cane toad . i prefer soft plastics over hollow-bodied ones . some soft plastic frogs you can even use a double frog hook on (the gambler cane toad) . but i like using a 3/0-5/0 skipjack hook (gamakatsu) . the softplastics are alot more weed proof , you rig the frog texas style and slightly bury the hook point . good luck , i know i can't wait till the grass mats come back to the lakes i fish !!!!!!!
  19. i chose that they were ugly by mistake : i had the chronarch confused with the curado ( that green paint is hideous ) any way , the chronarch is pretty much like the Core , wich is very nice !!! just the fact that they have VERY limited line capacity makes me not willing to ever want one ....
  20. so is it to get deeper like a bill , or is it to move water or both ??? i just never seen a trout-bodied swimbait like that before , that ac plug doesn't use it for diving more as water displacement , right ?? The Ac's were orignally designed as a diving lure. Also, the Z-Plug is a straight diving/trolling lure and has a similar plug cut design. thanks , just thought it strange enough to ask about it
  21. so is it to get deeper like a bill , or is it to move water or both ??? i just never seen a trout-bodied swimbait like that before , that ac plug doesn't use it for diving more as water displacement , right ??
  22. does it seem as tho the lower jaw is a diving lip that has been intergrated into the baits body ???
  23. this struck me as a unique design , anyone try one ?? http://www.***.com/descpageVBSB-VBDT.html
  24. no they don't , tho they do have tru-tungsten swimbaits . go to tackle warehouse - http://www.***.com/swimbaits.html
  25. so do you think the power pro phantom red does or does not ''dissapear'' in water deeper than 3-5 ft. ?? or should i go back to moss green . i use 20,30, 50, and 65 lb. line , with either mono or flourocarbon leaders anywhere from 5-12 ft. , i use lipless crankbaits at around 15-25 ft. plus 14-20 ft. deep-diving crankbaits . do i need more leader length ?? is my braid gonna scare fish ? i fish in a pretty clear lake , lake dixon in san diego ,ca . the lake is highly pressured and there are BIG bass in this lake but was wondering if my line is limiting me by being very visible
