  1. you don't even need a swimbait rod for those light lures , a decent flipping stick will do , for that matter , a regular heavy action rod would suffice . :
  2. the 7'6'' mojo is for light flipping and the 7'11' is for med - heavy flipping . i , my self would get the 7'11'' stick .
  3. i have two of them ,1 in ''foxy shad'', model btsm7, and 1 in ''switchback'' model btsd7 , these baits are awesome . they are very easy to switch from rattlin' to silent , and they suspend PEFECTLY !! these are by far the best Bomber lures i've used !!! btw, they even come with the teardrop style split rings ...
  4. i use my 7'XH CARROT STIX paired with a REVO SX 7.1:1 high speed reel with 30# power pro braid , i can pull ANY fish out of any slop. i used to use 50# power pro but found that a little overkill , now with the lighter line (30# vs 50#) i can get longer casts !!!
  5. any time im not working or with my son , im fishing . the last two weeks i've fished everyday except 1 . and yes they are FULL days !!! so yeah , fishing is my main ''hobby'' , actually my addiction !!! and it's a full time hobby
  6. i don't need a study to tell me that , i find that everytime i go fishing !!! ;D ;D ;D but yeah , most every lake around san diego is HAMMERED 7 days a week . the bass just mostly look at your lures and laugh !!! i guess they are conditioned after a while . :-[
  7. It must suck to look at Bass Fishing as business. I always said that if Fishing and golf ever became not fun for me anymore, i would quit. I dont see that EVER happening. I wonder if Roland Martin still finds it fun or a challange.Tiger Woods too,is golf even fun for him anymore? i really don't think he bass fishes anymore , he is always talking about red fishing and other saltwater fish . too bad , he was a master at bass fishing and hero to alot of people growing up . even when you watch his shows he seems not that enthuzed when he fishes :-/
  8. probably did it for the money , after all he is the greatest tournament fisher EVER ! i know alot of people will say ''but RICK CLUNN is '' but Roland straight dominated fishing during his career , he has so many sponsorship opprotunities that that's all it became , a buisness ......
  9. like any one will tell you , what are you planning to throw ???? my theory is , get the rod that you won't regret not getting cause it's not stout enough , cause if your gonna later on throw 5-6 oz baits , well , you need a heavier rated stick . that's why my rod i'm having built is rated 3-8 oz. baits . that way i'll be covered thru most baits .... hope this helps in your selection. btw, i would recommend the 7'11'' heavy 1-6 oz. rod by OKUMA .
  10. i use a BROWNING fish binder , i put the original package into the binder sleeves , works excellent !! i've recently down sized from my OKEECHOBEE FATS 8 370 tackle bag to a back pack . now i carry 2 370 sized trays and the binder plus 2 5x9 terminal tackle trays for my hooks and such . but to get to the point , check out the binder i'm talking about , you'll love it ... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_103999_100011010_100000000_100011000_100-11-10
  11. cane toads are good , but get some rage tail toads or CANYON PLASTICS 4.5'' frogs , those things work very good . zoom horny toads are way to light and don't cast far because of it . it never hurts to have more than a FEW choices in your tackle box , i know i do !!!
  12. i don't know about that tail hook placement , looks kinda iffy to me . i couldn't imagine haulin a double digit bass to the shore or boat by that hook.
  13. those baits are truely spectacular to say the least , the female and male are my choices , yeah i'm gonna get both , in floating AND sinking models !!!! but i think bass have the tendancy to be more aggressive towards the males . i some times fish with bluegills (live) and i always try to catch big males and they seem to really try to crush them .
  14. my advice is to go with the SPRO BBZ-1 SHAD .a little bigger profile and great swimming action . but if u want a good blue gill imitator , get a JACKALL GIRON , about the same price and let me tell you , THEY WORK !!!!
  15. i think i just might try that ! the only bait from the rage tail line up that i don't care for is the ''anaconda'' , but maybe i'll give it some more time (i got the 7'' green pumpkin). i don't fish jigs so i never usaully get craws , but that ''lobster'' looks big enough to fish top water like a toad , so me and the bait monkey will add more baits to get (to a huge and still growing list :-/) this coming week ;D
  16. i use the green pumpkin / pearl belly rage tail toad with grat success!!! i use a Owner 5/0 ewg hook and instead of just runnin' it across the top , i make it hop , pause it and let it glide and swim it a bit , then pull it to the surface , and slow roll it , you can't fish it wrong !!! this is my favorite time of the year , frog fishing time ;D ;D ;D
  17. x2 , i love the oversize worm hooks made by OWNER , i use the 7/0 size for my 10'' power worms , zoom ole' monsters , and zoom ss magnums.
  18. sometimes i wonder why people use ''clear'' line any more , most manufactures make a low-vis green line that blends in 99.9% of the water that bass live in . i fish ''gin-clear lakes that the green line is much more invisible than the so called ''clear'' line. im still waiting for BPS to make their XPS flourocarbon in a green color . i also love ''smoke'' colored line like Izorline XXX.
  19. oh yeah, caught a 7lb.6oz toad on a green pumpkin/pearl belly rage tail toad . ( pic. of it in my sig.) these things are sweet , have to get a couple more packages this coming week !!!
  20. rangers found her last memorial day.(or was is the year before :-?)
  21. i know there are HUGE bass in the lake i fish (dixon) about two -three weeks ago i saw a 15-18# bass with with a 3-4# trout sticking out of her mouth. and have had other giants follow my swimbaits. they make me want to dive in after them ;D. anyhow , huge bass will continue to be caught , maybe not neccesarily in the lakes we think they will be . i guess that's the magic of bass fishing , you never know what your gonna catch........
  22. i have the 7' xh carrot stick and fish it with 30# power pro and it's actually not that noisy compared to the spinning rods i also use braid on . but to repeat what all carrot stick owners will tell you , ''braid is NOT an issue.''
  23. fish it slooooow, let it sit till you feel weight ,THEN , set the hook.my best bite on frogs is when i let it sit , force myself to WAIT. YOU WAIT, THEY WILL COME
  24. im pretty sure the guys from canada, actually quebec. probably not to good at english , maybe give him a break.. :
  25. use big , wide gap hooks that almost set them selves when a bass tries to crush the frog , yes , bass try to crush it so as to not let the frog get away , almost i guess you would call it ''stunning him'' so as to be able to then swallow it with out it getting away.i use 5/0 or 6/0 ewg hooks and OWNER twistlock un-weighted hooks with huge success .
