  1. i have a REVO TORO 51 in 5.4:1 and this reel is excellent !!! i have been throwing HUDDS and the SPRO BBZ-1 8" spooled with 25# P-LINE CXX and it holds plenty of line !! i get 60-70 yard casts with it . i am gonna be purchasing bigger baits here pretty soon , on the list is an ARMAGGEDON by 3:16 and the NATE BAITS EL GRANDE and NATE BAITS 11'' trout and maybe a 10'' stocker trout .
  2. seems like the powell guys should fish powells and the guys that have had G-BLANKS make them a custom rod should fish them . i love my 2 swimbait rods that have Rainshadow blanks and are made by G-BLANKS. never fished a powell but am sure they are good , thankyou for every one putting these rods and their reveiws posted for other people to know about them . it is good to have options !!!!!!! 8-)
  3. i like Korean made stuff , my ABU GARCIA SX and TORO were made there !!!
  4. the lake i fish at is very clear , so i don't want to go with braid , plus i would have to use 80 # braid wich is very heavy and i wouldn't get as good of casts with it . i dead stick the swimbaits alot , so line visibility is a issue and i think the CXX in moss green is the ticket . beleive me , i'm a big lover of braid , if i could use it effectively for this application i would , plus the ''no-stretch'' factor with braid will break me off if i happen to get a backlash , wich in my opinion , happens more with braid .
  5. little update , i just spooled my REVO TORO with 25 # P-line cxx and was hucking a SPRO BBZ-1 8'' SLOW SINKER a good 60-70 yards on thursday night , i had zero problems with the line so i guess i'm sold on the P-line for swimbaits , you never know , i might try some 10 or 12 lb. cxx on my REVO SX :
  6. try the Seaguar AbrazX Fluorocarbon Line , much better than the red label ...
  7. i don't see why your so set on a Powell then if you have never held one to me they are not all that special . if i were you i'd checkout Kistlers 7'medium crackbait rod (alton jones mode) .. btw , G-BLANKS also has a 7'6'' cranbait rod that is VERY NICE !!!! , soon as i get up some more money i am gonna have Larry hook me up !!!!
  8. missing her lip on her left side
  9. it seems by their website that they only have a one-year warranty on all their reels , i , personally have never heard of a lifetime warranty on reels , but i might be un-informed :-/ i know shimano , Abu Garcia , and Quantum only have one-year warranties on their reels . 8-)
  10. x2 , that's a very nice touch ( the tube/craw bait)
  11. you will not be dissapointed if you go with a G-BLANKS rod !!!! plus you can customize it how you want (split grips , colored thread , hook keepers , etc..) give Larry a call and talk to him about what your looking for , im sure he can hook you up
  12. your a class act Matt , can't wait to meet you at bass-a-thon ...
  13. i sent you a pm a little while ago but anyhow i also live in oceanside and i am a serious bass fisherman !!! i fish at dixon , discovery and champagne lakes . hit me up , maybe we can go fishing . i am gonna go catfishing during nightfishing this summer at dixon ( about the only good lake to fish for cats that are good size ) but i got to tell you something , i release EVERY bass i catch and don't like to see other people keep bass . where i fish and the people i fish with feel the same way . so if you are gonna keep bass , maybe it ain't a good idea to go fishing with me ?!?! any how , hope you like the forum here , it is a great place to get alot of info .... 8-)
  14. I WISH I HAD LILY ''FIELDS '' LIKE THAT WHERE I LIVE !!! I WOULD FISH THAT AREA FOR DAYS WITH A FROG !!! YOU GUYS ARE BLESSED WITH FISHERIES LIKE THAT
  15. try posting this topic in " tacklemaking " , you might get better results (suggestions and answers )
  16. i guess it's back to giving cxx another chance , this time i'll try 25 # . i guess i just wanted to have the line in smoke color , since i love Izorline smoke colored line .. thanks for all the feedback
  17. not when your throwing 3-8 oz. baits !!! i am actually considering 30 # line !!! Your original post made no mention of what you are tossing, only inquired as to line strength. i had another topic about cxx and yo-zuri hybrid and there was mentioning of big swimbaits , thought that people would make the assumtion . should have mentioned it !! have you used evolution line ???
  18. not when your throwing 3-8 oz. baits !!! i am actually considering 30 # line !!!
  19. 6'' robo fat straight tail worm 10'' powerbait worm zoom trick worm canyon plastics 4.5'' frog zoom mag worm 9'' zoom ole' monster 10'' worm
  20. i'll take your word for it , gonna have to try 25# cxx , but would still love to have feedback on evolution about if it is very strong .
  21. for the wake jr. , u want to go with an actual swimbait rod rated for ATLEAST 3 oz. , preferrably up to 4-5 oz. the mojo 7'9'' heavy rod would be very good , in reveiws and owners on this forum , that it can handle up 5 oz. the Mattlures bluegill can be thrown on a heavy action flippping stick with a fast or extra fast tip , that goes for the spro bbz1 shad also . as for line , i wouyld use 20-25 # mono or co-poly for the wake jr. , 15-20# for the spro and mattlures bluegill ...
  22. so if i jumped up to 30# test of evolution , it would be as strong as 25# cxx ???, have you used evolution line , is it strong ?? is it comperable to cxx ?? talk to me !!!
  23. so how is the strength of the ''evolution'' , cause if it is near the strenth of ''cxx'' , i can jump up a test in the evolution since it is ALOT thinner in dia. than cxx . cxx in 25 # is .020 dia. (.50mm) compared to the evolution in 25# is .0176 dia. (.44mm) so if i can get a comparision of the two , that would be very helpful in terms of strength .
