  1. check out Mattlures babybass swimbait ( the new jointed one ) that should suit you well or try a stocker trout in baby bass , cl8 baits makes a nice swimbait in bass . check out ***.com , you are sure to see a bunch . the above mentioned will get bit FOR SURE ......... btw , i fish trout colored swimbaits in waters that have NEVER seen a trout and have caught a few on them , some times it's all about ACTION and the fishes aggressiveness ... also , try wake baits !!!!!
  2. swimbaits ( no, not paddletails !!! ) , 8'' BBZ-1 , huddlestons ( 8'' and 6'' weedless ) , stocker trouts , etc...
  3. I just received one from a guy on here in a cardboard tube. No problems. i tried to bend and break t after seeing something on here about them. I couldnt. i guess that's your call to roll the dice .....
  4. x2...or 3 I never keep them. Even if they're bleeding, dying, or dead, they go right back into the lake. Something will eat 'em. that's how i feel !!! have never eaten a bass , never will ..... i ALWAYS catch and release , ALWAYS .....
  5. what ever you do , don't ship in cardboard tubes , use the grey colored pvc , the gray is rigid enough but not as heavy as ABS ....
  6. i also use PRO-CURE scents , the gel and the butter in trout flavor , a must for swimbaiters .........
  7. i only use scents as lube for swimbaits and frogs (Canyon Plastics 4.5'' frog) a plus is that the lube doesn't smell unnatural so i guess you can say that i use scents not to add taste to the lure but as to mask the lube scent , does that make sense ???
  8. the x-craftic frame is alot more corrosion resistant than the aluminum frames.
  9. cool then , it's good to be informed . i guess when it's a broad kinda question about a company that most people don't buy from , you get alot of suggestions to look elswhere . i myself don't trust alot of what i read in a advertisement from companies like BPS , or for this matter Browning ......
  10. use 2# CXX for bluegills and 6# or 8# CXX for large mouth . actually you might not want to go over 6# CXX on a 2500 size spinning reel , 8# is pushing it !!! as far as the dia. of CXX in the 2-6# range , my opinion is they are pretty darn close to the same dia. as most other lines in that test (izorline , trilene xl , maxima , etc... )
  11. if i were you and looking to only spend that much money for a decent reel , i would get a silvermax or promax by ABU GARCIA . or spend a few dollars more and get a REVO S ........
  12. thanks for that link to their website , those 10'' trout and the bluegills look VERY GOOD !!!!
  13. thats a nice bait . i always wondered why none of the big swimbait makers never made that many (if any at all) catfish swim baits . in a lake i fish , i have personally seen alot of bass eat young catfish very aggresively . again , nice bait and good species choice , im positive it will get hammered
  14. my take on this is that the bass go up through hole in the slop and alot of times miss it , that why we sometimes get that bass on a re-cast to that same spot/hole . i have always equated that to standard frog fishing . i have recently been letting the frog sink how it wants while reeling it super slow ( i don't use hollow bodied/floating frogs any more ) and pausing it alot , allowing it to sink . if i miss the bass or it misses me , i re-cast to the same spot and usaully catch him .
  15. i think i'll wait for the premier eva grips to come out and be available !! i can't imagine what they want for the Aurora grips thanks tho !!!
  16. just got this response from Nate himself---'' Just saw the post and was initially a bit puzzled. Well the answer to your question is that the current El Grandes come with 7/0 Mustads on them. I was initially putting 5/0 Owner St-66's (which I laquered with black finish) however I had a lot of suggestions to go with a thinner guage hook. So the website is INCORRECT. It must have gotten mixed up when it was updated with the new pictures. I will have it changed this evening.'' Please feel free to ask if you have any further questions. Thanks! Nate
  17. thanks everyone
  18. get a REVO S , with the centrifugal brakes you can't go wrong plus they are built like tanks and have all the qualities of reels that cost twice as much !!!!!
  19. the salt water 4x treble hooks are SUPER STRONG , i can't imagine ANY line straightening them out !!! ( i use them for catfishing )
  20. wondering if anyone has one and do they come with 7/0 Owner hooks ( like their website says ) or do they come with 5/0 Owner hooks ?? i looked at Owners website and they don't list 7/0 trebles . so maybe they listed them wrong on the Natesbaits website . anyhow , if you own/have owned this bait , how did you like it ??? thanks ...
  21. called ABU GARCIA today , they say cause of the reel being so new that they don't sell parts yet but to check back in a few weeks . and yes i would have to also buy the handle together with the grips ...
  22. those look pretty good , if the size 3 is the same size as other duo-lock snaps , then the Berkley ones have twice the # rating ( 30# vs 60# )thanks for the tip
