  1. This is soo true. In the summer months I try to fish straight down in that big laydown. There are really holding close to the cover. In the early morning they will venture out for breakfast though. If you're catching only small it's because you're fishing where small fish are
  2. Hey Sam, Cast it in this direction if you don't mind!!
  3. If you hadn't taken the picture you could of said it weighed any amount but since you did, I'd say 4-5½ lbs. Now you can't tell everyone a tall fish story. Usually when I take a camera along I don't catch anything worth taking a picture of.
  4. I'm trying to find out some information about Shearon Harris Lake in NC. When I look using the search link all I get is ''Sorry no matches were found''. Shearon Harris is considered North Carolina's Lunker Capital so I'm sure there must be some information on this lake. Help me out, I'm sure there must be some info on Harris.
  5. I'll be pleased with at least a couple 5 or 6 lbers.
  6. Caught this bass with a crankbait and there was a live turtle and a crawdad still in her mouth. I let the turtle go but the crawdad became her meal.
  7. Great pictures Glenn.
  8. The kids don't know the difference in the name on the rod or the reel until the parents give them their 2 cents worth. The kids that want to fish don't care what name is on the reel. You would be better off just donating your old reels and letting them keep their discount difference.
  9. Just having images like this come up on the screen has convinced me that I will always have side image. The top picture is a submerged tree with fish all around the top of it. The second picture is a large school of baitfish. Taken with a 997c SI.
  10. Hmmm? What do you think now? He would probably sure die trying. courtesy of jeffonc from NCangler
  11. Couldn't vote. Why wasn't Mexico on the list?
  12. This Largemouth bass is a 7 lb 2 oz I caught while me and my dad were fishing a 3 acre pond in Stokes County, NC. Caught it on a Bagley Bang-o-lure. He grabbed the Bang-o-lure one time and he got off and I threw it back to him and I got him. Took some pictures and weighed it and let it go. My largest bass ever, that I weighed, was 8 lb 1 oz.
  13. Did you catch any of those Saddam bass? The ones that look like snookers from Florida.
  14. Thanks, I'm going tomorrow. I'll have to ride down around the dam and try it out. I went last week but I didn't get to fish long, my batteries went dead for some reason.
  15. I hooked one the exact same way about 15 yrs ago using a Rat-L-trap. I didn't know what I had for nearly 10 minutes. The boat wound up being almost 100 yds from where I hooked him. It weighed just over 25 lbs. Didn't get a pic of it though.
  16. Really nice looking fish. Glad to hear that you released it. I've got two that I didn't but now I wish that I had. I'm catch and release from now on.
  17. Without a doubt, I use baitcasters more. There are times when I need a spinning reel setup though. Especially when using really light tackle. I've got a habit of throwing heavy lures. Doug Hannon says you throw the big stuff to catch the big stuff. I'm out to catch the big'ens. When the weather gets colder I turn to smaller lures though.
  18. I think they are all 'spots'. The lines on the lower part of the body are just like that of a spot. Spotted bass prefer rocky bottoms with moderate to swift flows. One of the pictures appears to show a rocky bank which probably extends down into the lake. The large spots you commonly see down the sides are not common on all spotted bass. Check out this PDF file and look at the last page. http://www.floridaconservation.org/Fishing/pdf/BassPoster-Fl-Wildlife.pdf Hope this helps you out.
  19. You need to pull the trigger before it gets hit by a car. ;D
  20. I don't know but who wouldn't vote for a body like that?
  21. I started fishing this summer with my new son-in-law. He never fished for bass before we started fishing together. He gets discouraged when he isn't catching anything. You have given me an idea to pump him up (I hope) and get him more involved when we are fishing together. I'm satisified with our trips together when he is catching fish and I'm not so worried about myself catching anything. I've had my day at the lake, now I want him to have his. Thanks Below is a picture of his largest bass so far. 4lbs 14ozs.
  22. Hello to all you Bass Anglers. I'm from Madison, North Carolina. I waited before posting this until I could find out more about BassResource.com. I have fished from Patagona Lake in Arizona to the rivers and lakes of Iran but I always came back to North Carolina. My home lake is Belews Lake which is less than 5 miles from home. I have finally found a good forum to be a part of. There are so many friendly people here that are more than willing to let me know whatever I need to know about bass fishing. Now I need to let more people in my area know about BassResource.com. I'm finding it hard to find people in my area on this website. I haven't found many postings from my part of the country. I'm sure there must be members in my area though. The bass forum on BassResource.com has become a tool for catching more and bigger bass. I never heard of a Lake Fork magic shad until getting on this forum, this lure works. Thank you, Brad_Coovert. I am looking forward to reading and learning the more I check out this website. I'm also looking forward to sharing some stories and reading yours and also becoming a better bass fisherman.
  23. When my son-in-law wants to go my wife doesn't mind it we fish every day of the week. ;D Normally though, Spring time - 4 to 5 times and week; Summer - 3 to 4 times a week; Fall - 3 to 5 times a week; Winter - 0 to 1 time a week if the weather is permitten'.
  24. Without a doubt it has to be Bill Dance. He's always catching the big ones and I pay close attention to what he's using. Al Lindner would be a close second though. He seems to show how much he enjoys fishing in general. I like to enjoy my fishing trips and in turn by catching a really nice one it makes it that much more enjoyable. LOL
  25. I truly agree with this statement. It holds true every time.
