  1. Gah. I must of looked at that rod a dozen times and read it as ultra light. That's definitely an option.
  2. Im looking for a shorter ML spinning rod around 4'6 - 5'6 for my 5 yeah old and I keep coming back to THAT brands junior series. Any suggestions? Thanks
  3. Baby bass for me.
  4. Sorry for you loss. I also think of my great dane I grew up with, pippy. Clumsy as hell but sweet as can be. We had a lot of fun times.
  5. Aside from watermelon or pearl/gold fleck, baby bass.
  6. Welcome! Where in Miami are you staying?
  7. They have some smallmouth models available that would probably work for you. Amazing rods at retail and even better at ffo prices. I believe they have a coupon on their homepage as well.
  8. Another cichlid that fell victim to the fluke Jr. These guys are packed full of attitude and this one was no exception.
  9. I am also having similar issues on my phone with the like feature and new posts not showing up at the top of the sub forum.
  10. Copied from my post from a other thread : Through all of my buying and selling tackle, I found I really only need 3 nice setups for my fishing. Unless something catches my eye, lol. Medium/Light spinning for 1/8-5/16 (I do most of my fishing with this) Medium casting for 1/4-5/8 Medium/heavy casting for 3/8-1oz All fast action with braid and leader (6lb, 10lb & 15lb). I'm not a tackle junkie with a million baits to choose from. Over the years I've narrowed down my selection to the bait styles I have the most confidence in, then manufacturers. What I have is roughly 5 styles of soft plastics and a hand full of hard baits for each rod power. I even did the spreadsheet thing other members suggested to help keep track of what you use and need to reorder so I'm not shopping for new-to-me baits when I can see what works for me. This helped me limit my gear, selection and stress carrying what I need when I'm bank beating. Also makes restocking easier and cheaper. Small bag for when I bring just the ML spinning Slightly larger bag for when I bring more than 1 rod or any plastics longer than 4-5" Just add water.
  11. Never owned a boat and probably won't for a long while. I've caught fish large and small from shore. From peacock bass and that one monster arrowana to tiny bluegill and sickly dink bass.
  12. At least you're here to tell us about it. That's ******* scary stuff, man. I usually go to an indoor range with automatic targets and always check my back after every magazine. Never had anything happen to make me do so but after reading so many similar stories, I made it a habit. Wow. He definitely should have bought you a new sweater at the very least.
  13. 1000 size Shimano or 25 pflueger.
  14. Amber is great for low light conditions. I also like them for driving.

A happy wife means more fishing time so I'm thrilled. Sorry to ramble on. This all is jmho of course.
  16. I was throwing 1/8oz and under trigs in 20+ mph gusts the other day and slayed the dinks. That would of been a headache even with the budget bfs rig I had. It's possible but not without heavy braking.
  17. Got the stradic fk out today and hooked into a few 1-2 lb Lm. My daughter wanted to try and did really well casting a 7' spinning rig and now wants one of her own. Girl has expensive taste lol. This guy also wanted to see what the commotion was about. Probably my heaviest cichlid to date. The picture doesn't do him justice and wouldn't lay still for more than a couple seconds but he was very round and scrappy. All in all, this combo is here to stay. An absolute joy to fish with. Light, smooth and connected plus a silky drag. Fantastic. Stradic 1000 fk 7' ML/F 2 piece Avid x 10/2 power pro & 6lb fluoroclear leader
  18. I like butt. It is interesting how varied rod ratings are from one manufacturer to another. Fenwick medium are like a heavy ml while some Croix med are more mh, Imo. When browsing dobyns rods, I was almost set on a 2 power but this thread may have changed my mind. Are all of their rod series 1 power lighter than rated?
  19. What size plastics and weights? 3" senkos or 7"? Assuming it'll be for 1/4-1/2oz I'd echo the above and go with a 7' mh/f. Different manufacturers like Abu and some Croix fish heavier than rated.
  20. I had a 6'10 m/f 2 piece that was fantastic except for the reel seat didn't work with any shimano reels without a shim of some sort and that was a deal breaker for me. I tried to make it work but the reel had play even with shims and that arrowana definitely made it noticeable. I was tossing super fluke Jr's a respectable distance with that rod and definitely have second thoughts about selling it. Absolutely the best rod value I've come across. BTW does anyone own a xf aetos? Are they true to the xf rating or softer? Sorry to thread jack....
  21. 3 inch senkos can be a bit heavy for a true ul but if the rod has any bit of backbone, weightless 4" Yamamoto cut tails are killer on a size 1 ewg hook. I used braid with a 4lb fluoroclear leader and never had a fish break off when setting the hook. A smooth drag is key when getting into the ul realm.
  22. Ah, it is. I did get a response from both hedgehog and JT and they confirmed that the shimano a type knobs will work. Tackle trap only has the eging? knobs that would probably be too large for this reel.
  23. Sent hedgehog an email but no response. I'll shoot jt an email and post my findings. Thanks, Dwight.
  24. Just got my 1000 fk in today and man is it nice. A small review will come when I get time on the water with it. Anyways, had anyone changed the knobs on theirs? Or anything else? Everything is great on this little guy except for that knob. It's trash. So naturally I started looking for replacements and kept coming to the yumeya cork knobs. Are all shimano handles the same dimensions? Size a? Any help is appreciated! Specifically this one http://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/phone/product/2061
