  1. Windy with gusts into 34mph Low is a bone chilling 44 tonight. It rained yesterday.
  2. I saw a beast largemouth (had to be double digit or close to it) almost swallow a dink I had just released at my feet. It's unreal that fish that size are in these lakes where I regularly catch bass in the 1-3lb range. I'm making an effort this year to get a swimbait rig (soft bodies to start). I'll be that guy with a bfs rig in one hand and a swimbait rig in the other.
  3. I'd say that's a common price. I've been watching eBay for the same deals on fk's and the prices haven't changed much if any. I would wait. Or at least try to.
  4. Sweet. Curious how they compare to the lake fork baby shad and the 2" Keitech baits. Those have been killer for me.
  5. That new fuego caster is under a bill new on fleabay. From what I gather, it's a tatula without the t wing....
  6. I've never seen one in person. Is the 80 size small enough for little hands?
  7. I've seen the 33 platinum mentioned alot in my research. I'll look into those as well. Thanks, Catt.
  8. I found the Daiwa for about $50 and the omega for $60. The president was a great size for her little hands. Would either of these two be too large in their smallest model? My other option would be to send the president in for about $7 and hope we get one that works correctly.
  9. It may see saltwater a few times a year but mainly freshwater use.
  10. Looking to replace a president spin cast that's been nothing but problems for my 4 year old daughter. I'm stuck between the the goldcast and omega pro in the smallest size. They both seem to be the best of the current spin cast reels from what I've read. Would they be OK to fish saltwater? I'm not looking to get a spinning reel for her just yet so please don't suggest one. Any opinions ?
  11. I discovered Pete Cottrell through that video. Guy is awesome

To be honest, it's not that bad especially with the Hogue grip. Also the wider trigger is definitely more comfortable to pull than the non-custom version. I love my Shield, lol.
  13. Nice fish!
  14. Small erratic baits work best for me on lighter tackle. One of my go to baits is the super fluke Jr in baby bass Texas rigged weightless with a twitch pause retrieve. If the peas aren't up to it the largemouth might be though you may need to slow down for them to be interested. If you have a light or ultralight power rod, crappie jigs with shad/baitfish shape trailers work great too and you'll probably catch some cichlids as well. Good luck.
  15. Older model Daiwa procyon with the Fuji components from fleabay would be my pick. I have mine paired with a Sahara 1000 and it's a blast to fish.
  16. It's the 7' 2 piece ml/f I had it out for a bit yesterday and caught a 2ish lmb with a weightless 3" senko. I'd say it's definitely true to its rating unlike the other Croix rods I've had in the past. Soft tip with just enough backbone. The micro guides handled 20lb powerpro with a 6lb leader just fine. Sensitivity is up there with my recon or better. Finish is also excellent with no excess epoxy and the guides straight. Overall an excellent rod and worth its price imo.
  17. What reel is it? Was the spool dropped? What exactly did you do when you had it open?
  18. Did you disassemble the handle/drag assembly? The square nut (at least it was square on Shimanos) under the handle may have been too tight before reassembly and putting out constant drag pressure even with the drag star all the way loose.
  19. Lake fork baby shads Sliders Spro phat flies
  20. Will replace symetre with a stradic of some type. Probably the new fk model.

Curious what everyone carries daily. Depending where I'm going determines whether I iwb my shield or pocket my lcp. Planning on adding a single AA streamlight too. I'm a fan of the minimalist approach...
  22. My top two are the spro phat flies and Lake fork baby shad with the ball tail on the Bps premium jigs with the Gammy hooks.
  23. I have 10lb powerpro with 4lb floroclear leader on my UL rig.
