  1. IMPROVED CLINCH KNOT WORKS FOR ME TOO, NEVER LOST A FISH BECAUSE OF A KNOT.... NEVER GO WRONG WITH THAT KNOT, OF COURSE I DOUBLE CHECK KNOT BEFORE CASTING TO FEEL SAFE. NEVER RE-TIE ONLY WHEN CHANGING LURES...14LB STREN AND TRILENE,,, NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS
  2. Don't be afraid to go to what you think will be "to big" bass have eye bigger than their stomachs. im 100% behind this statement. specially large spinner baits.
  3. buddy im not too far from you and i fish the same as you... i also was in a drought for a couple of weeks.. then i brought back out my spinner baits. white and chartreuse colors and medium to big spinners. willow chrome and colorado gold or vise-versa. bend the blades just a tiny bit.slow crank as slow as possible
  4. i have caught my biggest fish of 08' on white spinner bait with 4/12 willow blade chrome and gold colorado blade. last thursday...i followed my idol's advise KVD on bassmaster magazine, slowly cranking that sucka!!!!!! 11.1lbs..
  5. i does work, i sorta did the same thing except i used those crimp type bullet weights bout 15-20" in front of a Mann's baby minus crank. i like that crank alot but i wanted it to go deeper cause i was fishing amistad that's why i tried that. then if i wanted to go shallow i just removed the weights. it worked for me in the summer..
  6. i have the best results with spinner bait when i fish places like that, medium to small spinners, 3/16 or less. slow crank those suckers and let them go deep down. if the water is muddy and dark use colors like white and chartreuse, gold and chrome blades work real good. but the key here is to go slow. i have caught all bass in the cover, stumps and brush. all have been casting side ways running parallel to shore cover and brushes, you migh want to try that. they have all been close to the shore and shallow in the morning, between 7:30 and 9:30 am
  7. cool beans, now i know more less what the deal is...thank you guys..
  8. cool beans man i just called the 1-877# and they said i should be getting my first issue any time now and it hasn't been two months its been only 4 weeks since i signed up... jaja.. thanks for the #
  9. > im still waiting on my first freaking issue! i've been waiting now for about two freaking months maybe more. i need to freaking call somebody!
  10. i like the way that one looks all tigre striped, cool beans!! very different from what we got down here
  11. OK i just thought they weren't largemouths because compared to the ones if have caught in amistad you cant see the stripes on them and they are not as black, they have this goldish color to them... oh and those orange eyes too.. some of them not all.... the ones in amistad are darker and you can really see their stripes... i guess it does depend on the water and stuff. this is another most of them look like this in this lake... and there is no record of stocking smallies just largies
  12. i caught this smallie in this same lake... and it wasn't amistad or falcon.. it's a community lake in the middle of town. theres only a few of us that know what fish there is in this lake/pond. i haven't caught any smallies in amistad... only largemouth i dont know why... anyways i want to know on average how big can a smallie get?
  13. i didn't have any stripes on it...and it wasn't as dark... i would show you the pictures of the body but the pictures are too big 230 kb and i cant post them..
  14. hey i wanted to ask how big does a smallie usually get because i caught a 24' bass i guess it was weighing about 6 lbs. i know for sure it was not a black bass because i have caught plenty of those. this thing was bronze goldish color with black eyes. i just think it was kinda big for a smallie. this is a picture of the head. i have caught some small bass with those crazy looking eyes around here just not that big.. i just want to make sure this is a smallie
  15. oh and they send me a small B.A.S.S. tackle bag for free... pretty handy bad 8-)
  16. i like the magazine and the articles they have. i became a member about two months ago and i have not yet received my first magazine. i did receive a member's package that comes with sticker and a patch and like coupons to rental cars and other stuff. i like that now i can join their tournament at amistad, or i will try at least. i like the conservation approach they have. i think for the $15 you pay it's not bad at all. oh and i got a membership card and supposely you can get discounts on tackle with the card or something.... 8-)
  17. lake amistad is the best!!!! went fishing last sturday before 3 pm had 5 big ol hawgs not to mention one that got away by bending the crap out of my hook!!! i need to go 8-)
