  1. I was watching Strike King Pro Team Journal and Mark Mendez mentioned that its easy to tell a male by looking at the bottom jaw - male bottom jaws come to a point in the front, whereas females have a rounder look. Anyone else heard this?
  2. Will do Senile1. We're headed there in a couple weeks. I saw those fishing reports and thought the same as you. I'm only going to fish two 1/2 days (pm/am) since this is my first time out there. From what the owner told us, there's more quality in the big lake and more quantity in their smaller pond. I just hope I don't have to soak a worm for 6 hrs.
  3. Just curious if anyone has made it out to Liberal, MO to check this place out? Fishing buddies are considering this place in mid-Sept. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks. http://www.anglersparadise.biz/
  4. Yeah these hit the market a little late for 2011 or way early for 2012! I love BBB Co! So I'm sure I'll have a few bags for the start of next year!
  5. Here we go...wait for it...
  6. Looks pretty cool. I might have to add that to my next TW order.
  7. Thanks Big-O. I think the key is "nose up/belly bowed" which will just take more practice. I guess I'm programmed to texas-rigged my soft plastics straight.
  8. Not to jump in, but have you guys explored the smaller ponds around Heritage Park? There are two smaller ponds by different picnic shelters south of the main lake. One pond has a paved walking path and excellent fishing - the biggest bass I've caught out there is 20". The middle of the pond is deep enough for squarebills or wiggle warts. I can't remember the shelter #, but will look the next time I'm out there and let you know if you want. The second pond borders the golf course. It's pretty shallow on the park side and usually choked with vegetation, but when the frog bite is on...it can be fun. Last year during a breif rain shower, I made it to the golf course side with some rubber boots, mucking along the shore. There weren't any golfers (or marshalls) around and I caught 6 bass in 10 buzzbait casts - all were between 16-19". When the golfers appeared, I made the long and muddy journey back to the park side. I called the clubhouse to find out how strict they were on fishing that pond and they said there weren't any fish in there.
  9. I use the Rage Shad (GrnPkm/Chart) w/ Gama Superline EWG 4/0 on braid as subtle alternative to buzzbaits or in a "froggin" situation. I get too OCD when my frogs roll over on their back (including Rage Toad), so the Rage Shad is very versatile for me.
  10. Completed another trip to TC and once again (thanks to work and persoanl schedules) we sizzled on the john boats in 100+ degree weather for 2 full days of fishing. The four of us totaled 411 bass and some ginormous crappie. There were no secret lures/techniques. Everyone was fishing their strengths and everyone was successful. The biggest catch was 4.5#. Bloody thumbs, hooked fingers, good fellowship, and plenty of fluids made a great trip. We fished Upper and Lower Duck, The Islands, Upper and Lower Cedar. Upper and Lower Duck were most productive. Water level was significantly down on Long Lake - so we skipped it. For me, Rattling KVD 2.5 (Orange Bell Craw), SK Series 5 Deep Diver (Red Craw), and Koppers Deep Diver 8-10' (Natural Craw) were my weapons of choice that yielded 129. Others in the group used buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, and frogs to name a few.
  11. I never throw a buzzbait without trailer or trailer hook. Over 1/2 my bass are hooked on the trailer hook alone. I always throw black too. I mostly use a spinnerbait type black trailer like this: http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops%C2%AE-Cajun-Trailer%E2%84%A2/product/32792/-639854 I always attach 3/0 Gammy trailer hook. http://www.basspro.com/Gamakatsu-Spinnerbait-Trailer-Hook/product/15832/-1730661 Sorry, don't have any pictures to show.
  12. You CANNOT beat the tackle selection at Roger's. It's almost overwhelming. He carries the stuff BPS and Cabela's don't. If BPS carries 5 colors of a certain lure, Roger's has all 12.
  13. I bought my KVD 1.5's and 2.5's about 3 weeks ago, so I don't feel as victimized. However, I have about 4 lbs of creature baits that I need to use before I consider HAVOC!
  14. I change mine out every season (9 months). I mostly use the left over mono of a brand I tried and didn't like or if i get it on sale. I'm sure you could go longer as long as it's not passing through your rod guides.
  15. I've had my hook-keeper on my rod rust from leaving soft plastics on. I haven't had that happen with Gammy hooks.
  16. Big Bite Baits Squirrel Tails - the tail end floats. My favorite shaky head rig.
  17. An Ardent rep was hanging out at BPS last year and I asked him about LH reels. He talked about how expensive it was to create both LH and RH reels and all the different equipment needed to do so. That seemed odd and small time to me as I looked down the reel counter and saw all the other LH brands. Now granted most LH were done overseas, but still.
  18. The only Bargain Cave that's nice is the one Cabela's has online. All the other's are garage sales.
  19. X2 X3. $11.99 @ BPS during Spring Fishing Classic.
  20. The only thing I catch with spoons are snags and rocks...especially in Sexy Shad color. 8-)
  21. The XPS Professional and Lazer Eye lines aren't bad, especially when they are on sale. I've had decent success with The Egg and the Shallow Divers. I'd stay away from the cheapos like the Tourney Specials and XTS - you can bend the hooks with your finger...almost like aluminum.
  22. Living in KC, I need 3: 1. Kansas Resident - $20.50 2. Johnson County Parks - $9.00 3. Missouri Nonresident - $42.00
  23. 1. The Bass Pro's 2. Classic Patterns 3. Bass Edge
  24. I totally agree with $4 Wiggle Wart! Second, any lure that doesn't have a "sexy-shad" color.
  25. Welcome aboard!
