  1. i notice that the majority of the waders are around 100 bucks or less. i have no price range at the moment. i will pay decent money for a good set up. but i wont pay the price if i have to repurchase every year to 2. i guess int he summers i could buy a wading boot, then use the waders for colder waters......thats always an option too. other than the walking through brush to get to the wading locations, i am primarily on slippery rock with green algae all over them, if not slippery, then just wet rock. very rarely am i on mud or anythign else. rock is it. i do want something that can handle me walking on flat land as well. i usually wade for a while, then head up to the road while i go back to my truck. also need something with good ankle support. with the rocks being slick, im ALWAYS sliding off or rolling my ankle..............not fun!!
  2. Hey all at the end of last year, i began to wade in the local rivers with my good ol' tennis shoes. at the beginning of this year, i have been wading 99% of the time and needless to say the water is turning colder. so i have been looking at BPS at all the wader options. from rubber waders, to knee highs, to actual wading boots with the felt on the bottom as well as felt with metal stubs for traction. out of all the wading options that are out there, id really hate to drop $100+ on a pair of waders that arnt that great. can anyone with experience pass on some recommendations and some "don't buy" advice? i am in the cincinnati area, so you can imagine how cold the waters get here int he winter.
  3. now, what i mean by disposable is the ones where you have to replace the blades. these are entirely too expensive int he long run. (im thinking the electric would be better)
  4. Here is a thread for all the guys that use an electric razor for thier face....... Back in the late 90's I remember buying an electric razor for my face rather than shaving with a disposable razor. The razor was like $100......right out of the package I remembered it giving me razor burn on my neck. Directions said to use it a few times so your neck/face would get used to it and the burn would go away. UH...not the case. So I quit using it and shaved manually ever since. Well im getting to the point where im tired of buying the disposable razors and am highly considering buying a new electric razor. I am attaching a photo similar to what I had back in the day. Although it is NOT the same model/color. You get the idea of what I had. Has anyone ever used this type of razor and had the same results? If so, what razor did you switch to and found it was eaier on the skin? Any recommendations would be appreciated.
  5. now just to give you the make/model of the reel in question. it is an Abu Garcia Cardinal 100ui. it has 5 bearings, if that means anything............
  6. The reels parts should be deep cleaned with a degreaser NOT ALCOHOL. when you say use a degreaser, would that be the same as using an engine degreaser type spray? now, i have the schematics of both spinning reels that i have. there sure are a lot of parts...... now, if i am reeling in and i feel grinding, is there a specific point that i could go to and clean? or is it safer to clean the whole thing? id like to do a "fix the problem" cleaning now and as soon as my fishing season is over, dissasemble and do a complete clean. figured id have a lot of time on my hands come winter
  7. hey all im sure this has been covered a lot of times on this forum but if someone can guide me in the right direction the that link, id appreciate it. i am not mechanically inclined at all. so i decided to do a quick you tube search to find a video on how to take a part a spinning reel, clean it and put back together. i found this one (see link below). ist seems rather easy and not to many parts. is there anything in this video that isnt shown that i need to do? i notice that guy only greased the reel. never talked about where to place "oil" and never talked about what parts to clean with alcohol and what not. do you use alcohol to clean parts? what needs cleaned. the greasing part he made seem pretty easy. before i attempt this task, any advice would be appreciated. im not even going to attempt my baitcaster, i'll send that in thank you.
  8. hmmmmmm, i put it on right after shower and thats it. i put on more than 2 swipes thats for sure. afraid of the stink............know what i mean. let me cut back the amount of swipes and ill see what happens. :-[ :-[ :-[
  9. This is a totally random question/concern but i really need to ask. im finding that i need a new deodorant every two weeks, maybe 3. I use the Old Spice High Endurnace and it really lasts all day long when i put it on. AWESOME deodorant!! question is this. on the average, how much deodorant do you go through and how often? it kills my wife that i need a new one every 2-3 weeks. is this common? i mean, i dont bathe in it and i dont think i put more on than i need to but her deodorant always lasts her a month +, easily. she doesnt stink, nor do i. but is it right to be going through deodorants so quickly? whats your experience? :-/
  10. I am trying to find a good spinning rod for less than $50. i was recently checking out the rods at meijers and i found a Shimano Stimula for $20. has anyone ever used this rod? Is the rod junk since it is only $20? i was thinking of getting it since my other cranking rod is a Shimano Crucial. trying to stick to Shimano. im also looking for a good light rod under the same price as well.
  11. i as well have caught a lot of dinks this year, about 75%. what i have caught a lot on were panfish tubes or grubs. i have also caught some small rockbass on the beetlespin as noted above. tubes all the way with a 1/32oz jig head
  12. as for the straps for the "rod holder", are you talking about the ones that actually sit on your back while you have tha pcak on? i wasnt sure what those straps were for. i fifgured it would be uncomfortable having your rods digging into your back. am i wrong? good to save money...........i had $20 in rewards points so i used that towards the bag and walked out with it fir about $35. had to buy one case for it since i already had the rest. so after all said and done id say it was close to $40!!
  13. hammer 4, your talking the spinners right, not the buzzbaits?
  14. hey guys just thought id give anyone that bank fishes a little recommendation. i do a lot of bank fishing as well as some wading from time to time. i normally carry a soft tackle bag that has a shoulder strap. as you all know this could get pretty annoying trying to keep the bag on your shoulder while trying to walk on rocks, or downstream let alone up stream. its also nice to be able to have both hands free. while at BPS yesterday i decided to splurge $55 and buy the XPS stalker bag. this bag is actually a back pack with TONS of room for tackle cases and tons of pockets to store things. it has two pockets for holding your spools of line. it even has opening to spool your reel while the bag is on your back. quite a few little perks on this bag. very cool!! i went out saturday night with it and was walking up and down rock banks as well as just standing on hard shore, bag was very comfortable on my shoulders and it held every bit of my tackle. i have room for more as well!!! it has a rain cover for the bag, a hard sunglass keeper, cleaning towel, etc...... cabelas also has one which has a rod keeper but it does cost more and you have less storage space. i believe that one is $70 heres the link for this bag: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0075021125063a&navCount=1&podId=0075021&parentId=cat20327&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat20166-cat20327&catalogCode=9IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20327&hasJS=true anyways, just thought id send this little bit of information out for ya. i really have no regrets buying this bag!!!!! made my bank fishing alot easier!!!! heres the link. oh one more thing. BPS sells out of these very fast. its one of there hottest items, so it may be easier to order online or call ahead of time and have the store hold it for you. i calle din the night before, they had 3 in stock. by the time i got there at opening the next day, the one on hold for me was the only one left. blew me away!! http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10200527_999043014_100000000_999043012?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAIL :D :D
  15. thanks for the help guys, i will definitley try all these options. i have yet to use the trailers i purchased but i will definitley try other colors. i usually burn them across the water, i always thought you had to keep tem moving. never thought you should let them sink. i will try it though thanks again.
  16. i didnt want to take over an earlier thread so i am starting a new. every time i go out i throw cranks 90% of the time and the other 10% of the time, i throw spinners and buzzbaits. i'll try them for about 30 minutes in total and i NEVER get any swirls or hits. NOTHING. i hear that everyone has great success on these types of lures but i dont agree. all my buzzbaits/spinners have the original skirts on them but i dont ever add any additional trailers to them. should i? i was walking my local BPS yesterday and decided to pick these up (see link below, white with red tip)). can you use these for both spinners/buzzbaits? what other trailers work great for spinners/buzz's? http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10206468____SearchResults
  17. i was under the same predicament at the beginning of this fishing season. I ended up buying the 2010 STX on ebay for cheaper than i would have going to BPS and buying it full price + tax. I think i got one off ebay for $175 and that included shipping. then i turned around and sent in the receippt to Abu Garcia for the Wiley sunglass promo. they accepted it with no issues at all. as long as the receipt doesnt show any form of it being an EBAY transaction...........your good to go!! besides the sunglass offer, the STX rocks!! i throw 1/4oz-1/2oz lures and i have had NO PROBLEMS what so ever. my rod can handle 1/2oz max so never had a chance to throw anything heavier than that. GO STX!!!
  18. I am from the Cincinnati area. I fish the Little Miami River, Winton Woods, and Rocky Fork All from shore. All fishing done from a kayak.
  19. Has anyone had any experience with the following AG spinners? (ultralight) Ultra Cast Combo Stealth Combo 100i Combo are they any good? worth the money? pros/cons
  20. x2 i use green 100% of the time
  21. that lake is like 5 minutes from my house. i fish that lake every weekend. i have never been on it with a boat though. i fish from the bank. i have caught my share of stripers, LM and SM and occasional crappie.
  22. check ebay, thats where i buy mine from. its hard for me to find 12#, 600yds in clear so i always use the green color. Road Warrior turned me on to it as well last year. :
  23. last year was my first year at fishing and i bought a few of the XPS "The Egg" cranks. i used those more times than not due to the fact that my waters are between 0-2ft deep, these were perfect. the ones i have go from 0-1ft in depth. i would recommend them! heres a link for them. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_51816____SearchResults then again, after saying all that, i think you were asking only about the professional series. i have tried this buzzbait in the color shown. i used a few times but came up empty. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_74325____SearchResults
  24. UGH!!!!! see i am so excited about it i totally overlooked that minor detail!!! ah well!!!! ;D
  25. YOU ARE GETTING ME EXCITED!!! the Cincinnati one starts this weekend. i have the funds and the time set aside for it (even though its only a 30-40 minute drive for me), Saturday cant get here quick enough!!! bring on the sales!!!
