  1. I hear a lot of people mentioning that they place a trailer hook and sometimes a trailer on buzzbaits as well as spinner baits. has anyone or does anyone place trailer hooks on jigs as well as swim jigs?
  2. hookset on 3 - where do you get those sled heads? i searched a few places and came up empty (tackle warehouse, bps, dicks and cabelas)
  3. im gonna hi-jack my own thread here and ask this..... does anyone put a trailer or trailer hook on swim jigs
  4. I was recently watching the bass pros on the versus channel and on this episode Edwin Evers was discussing throwing buzzbaits........ as he started breaking down his "arsenal" he showed that he threw an additional hook on the already there single hook. I think its called a trailer hook, but im not sure....... i have seen this trailer hook on some spinner baits but never on a buzz. he actually placed a long shank treble hook as that trailer hook but did not have any grub on the end. he just had the buzzbait skirt and these two sets of hooks. has anyone ver attached a treble hook to a buzzbait let alone a spinner bait? does anyone add a grub or soft plastic to this trailing hook? If so, could anyone provide some photos of there set up? i would like to see how they look.
  5. I found a forum that is primarily dedicated to collecting fishing crankbaits. Primarily Rapalas.......i never realized people did this........anyways, I attended the BPS Classic tonight and this particular night was for BPS Rewards card Members. The first 150 members recieved a free BPS Classic crankbait. The Crankbait was a Bomber Square A crank with the BPS logo painted on the side of it. It came in the normal Bomber package but the title on the box says 2011 Spring Classic. Is a lure like this actually a collectors item or should it be cracked open and used? I dont collect lures at all, so i dont know if lures like this would hold any value.........
  6. I decided to attend the first night of the BPS Classic in Cincinnati. While roaming the store, i DID NOTICE rods flying off the shelves as well as ALL KVD gear, ranging from lures to reels to rods. It was crazy!! there was a post on here the other day about the day after he won the classic KVD lures and what not would be a hot comodity (sp?)...boy was that ever true!!! i could understand a few things here and there but people were raiding the shelves. IT WAS CRAZY!! BPS did have the Strike King KVD 1.5/2.5 crankbaits on sale. When you first walk in the door, they have a big wooden kiosk box filled with these 1.5 and 2.5's. i got there an hour before the classic started and within an hour of the classic, this kiosk was showing the bottom of the box. That kiosk was the hottest part of the show!! Not that i was in the whole KVD world, i did buy a 1.5 in bluegill color since it was in my arsenal of shallow diving cranks. other than that, that was the only one i bought. Quantum/Strike King made out big time from what i could see!!! They could have put everything "KVD" in one room and closed the rest of the store and everyone would have been content!!!! Other than that.....Great sales as always.
  7. it definitely helps cabin fever!!
  8. cool, i will look at that again....thank you
  9. I have been playing this game and loving every minute of it....... i am running in to a part of the game i cant complete. when you are playing in free fishing and you have to accomplish an "X" number of challenges at each lake.......on the first lake you have to catch a "monster" fish to accomplish one of the challenges.... has anyone done that? that is the last one on that lake that i need to do. i caught a 20lb LM and that wasnt a monster according to the game. It doesnt exactly tell you what fish and how much it has to weight to fall in to that category. if anyone has done this, what type of fish and how large was it........... any advice on where they caught it would be appreciated!!!
  10. i was reading blogs and watching a bit of the final weigh in....looks like we have to wait till this coming weekend to watch it on ESPN...... why did they do that anyways? why would they not show this event LIVE on tv? why the week delay?
  11. heres another vote for the Vengeance. Bass Pro Shop doe snot carry these rods at all! you cant even get them on the online store. I just bought mine (should arrive friday) from Tackle Warehouse. If you place a $50 or more order, shipping is FREE. I bought the 6'-3" spinning rod and threw in a couple misc items and they gave me free shipping. if you order the rod anywhere else your looking at around $12 for shipping!!! tackle warehouse is awesome!!!! heres a link: http://www.***.com/Abu_Garcia_Vengeance_Spinning_Rods/descpage-AVNSR.html

  13. I think your math is a little off. Starts on 2/25. As I post this, the date is 2/14. You still have plenty of time. I thimk he was in the PANIC mode ! ;D I think I am getting there myself! DOH!!! I WAS SPEEDING TIME UP....I SO THOUGHT IT WAS THIS COMING WEEKEND.................BACK IN TO THE CABIN >
  14. i have yet to see the sales ad/show flier and the classic is this coming saturday (6 days away) they dont even have it advertising on there site. the only thing i see is the "presidents sale".
  15. i have placed the tubes in an empty coffee can and i actually have just a little coffee granules sitting int he bottom to make sure that the tubes will remain coffee scented. if they sit in the coffee granules too long, will the coffee stain the tubes? If i were to leave the tubes in this can with the granules for a long period of time (like 1-2 months), will the coffee damage the tubes? will they end up losing color?
  16. :'( :'( :-[ :-[ :( :) :D thank you!!!
  17. if i can ask.......what happened to crankbait2009?? :'( see reply #7 to this thread
  18. ha, thank you for that. that summed it up........i didnt think i ever saw the spool dis-engaged..... makes sense
  19. I was watching Kevin Van Dam teach the "flipping technique" on "The Bass Pros" tv show on Versus the other day.... He was using a baitcaster, and when I watched him do this, I couldnt tell if he ever dis-engaged the spool to cast. When I first started watching, I saw these short flipping casts and couldnt figure out how he was hitting his spot with no hard casting and NO BACKLASH. So I got to thinking that maybe he was only flipping what line he had out and never engaged the spool. which is it? casting softly or swinging your lure to your spot since there wasnt a lot of room to do a full out cast?
  20. it is a good thing that this package has been on the slow boat......think about it......... by the time the lure swap is complete, spring will be here and everyone can start using there new possessions no need to "dream" and wish you could use them ;D
  21. i couldnt tell you how many belly flops i have seen on these shows...................... >
  22. Again, after watching a few of the fishing shows on Versus as well as the Sportsman channel I have a couple questions about the way things are done...... I notice that the anglers on these shows, when setting a hook, they pull on there rod as if they have Moby Dick on the end of there line. Is there really a reason to set the hook that hard? Now keeping in mind that the majority of them are fishing for SM/LM bass. So sure there are a few that are 5,6 and 7 pounds. But I dont see it to be so big they have to set the hook so hard. I dont know how the hook doesnt get ripped out of the fish's mouth. Is that impossible to do? I hear that you can "tear the hook out" if setting to hard, but they certainly dont seem to have this issue. I cant imagine there is that much stretch in thier lines that forgives the aggressive hook set. Am I wrong? (heres my vent) - I notice the majority of the shows I watch, when these anglers (names i dont recall) catch a fish of any size or type.....they all release them in different ways. I see some gently place them in the water as if to say "thank you, it was fun" or "thanks for playing".....Then the next guy I see will be having a conversation about something or another and they throw the fish overboard as if to say, "ah well.....NEXT" or "not worth talking about" and over there shoulder it goes without any care in the world about that fish. Is there really a reason to throw them back in like they dont matter? Then there are some anglers that will lean over there boat, hold the fish by the mouth and set them in the water and hold them there until they know that fish is ready to go. Then they watch the fish swim away.......to me, that angler cares......I realize not everyone catches/releases the same way but some of these releases are very careless. You would think with it being a fishing show, that is seen by viewers everywhere that they would be concience about the realeasing ways. but then again, one anglers way of releasing is different from the next........who's to say any way is "right" or "wrong"
  23. that would be an awesome idea!!!!! along with a "Tackle Party" (just like a tupperware party but for tackle)
