  1. I normally place 6lb test (spinning reel) and 10lb test of YZH on my baitcaster. I use that line for all types of fishing. I have thought about moving to a braid or possibly even fluoro on the baitcaster outfit. If I were to have one line as an all purpose line.........would a braid or fluoro line fit this purpose? Or is the YZH the best route? I hear braid is very sensitive, which I like.........(the sensitive part of it, never fished braid)
  2. thank you, i was able to get the carb off. I took lots of pictures before and during the process. Once I get it cleaned and rebuilt, Hopefully It will go back on like it came off
  3. figured it would be easier to carry the carb rather than the whole motor.
  4. I hope I am posting this in the correct spot...... I have a 1966 Evinrude, 18HP, 2 stroke engine. I recently purchased a boat that had this attached to it. Knowing that the carburetor needs rebuilt, the previous owner gave me the kit to do so. I am not engine savvy at all, but with a little guidance (ok, a lot), I can get through it. I have a guy at my work that said he'd rebuild the carb for me, he does this a lot on motorcycles and boat engines as well. So, guess what......Once I get it off, it's going to him to fix!!!! here is my question....Can anyone help me on uninstalling the carb, so I can get it off and fixed? I see a couple nuts/bolts which are holding it on, but it also has a lot of other things attached to it as well that I don't know whats what. If anyone could help me, I'd greatly appreciate it
  5. no, it's not stolen. I hear that the weather here is going to be very decent all week and I was contimplating taking the boat out to see how she performs and to make sure she doesnt leak. But I also don't wanna get it on the water if I have a chance of being fines cause the motor has not yet been titled.
  6. I had to register the boat, trailer as well as the motor. I have not titled the motor yet but plan to. I was just curious what would happen if not titled.
  7. I have an 18HP Evinrude motor. In the state of Ohio, any motor over 10HP has to have a title. I bought the boat/motor from somone in Kentucky so obviously he never had a title. Let's say I take the boat on the water but do not have a title for the motor, what is the most that can happen if I get caught? It's not like I would carry the title around anyways......
  8. I was thinking of wallet, keys, cell, and things like that............suppose I could go the bag route
  9. I notice that water tight storage boxes at BPS and Cabelas are like 15-35 bucks each, depending on size. Can anyone lend some advice on where I can go to find CHEAPER ones. Is that even possible? I'd like a bigger sized box but not for no $50 Here is a link to what I am referring to: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Plano174-Guide-Series8482-Waterproof-Cases/704774.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dwaterproof%2Bstorage%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=waterproof+storage&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products
  10. that sounds like the sensible thing to do!! thank you
  11. my main thinking was lets say I'm travelling at "X" speed and out of the blue the depth, decreases. I think that would be a better time than ever to have a depth finder. I was HOPING for somethign simple that only had that function. But I guess it's a waste of money when you can have that as well as a fish finder all in one. back to Craigslist I go
  12. hmmmmm, those cost just as much if not more than a fish finder.....I figured they'd be a lot less in price. I was looking on Craigslist and fish finders arn't all that cheap on there either.
  13. I was wondering if anyone makes a depth finder? I see the ones at BPS, but they are the fish finders which also come with a depth finder built in. I am only after a depth finder...........do they exist?
  14. I definitely have the time and the want to...problem is the "not so great with my hands" part of it. Things end up costing me more money than what it should have. Things never go back together the way they came apart
  15. thank you slonezp. You have given me enough to think about
  16. I'd actually be on East Fork Lake 99.9% of the time. I did see this ad as well. Which seems better for my budget These guys also have outboards for sale as well. http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/boa/2762516558.html
  17. Report this post Edit post Reply with quote As the title says, I have never owned a boat before but am looking for one. I found this boat on Craigslist and was wondering if there are any key questions that I should be asking or if there is anything I should be prewarned about if I were to buy this boat? (Other than leaks) http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/boa/2749803086.html what do you all think?
  18. I will stick with the STX then....thank you guys
  19. Right now I own a REVO STX baitcaster and was thinking about getting the REVO SX baitcaster. Is there anyone that has used both that can chime in on which one they believe is better?
  20. thanks 614. That made a lot of sense. I think things would be a little different if I didn't want to get my daughter a car for her 16th birthday . that is also what stands in the way. I have been checking CL quite a bit to get an idea of whats out there. Some are very expensive and some others not so much. I could just imagine what will happen to the prices come spring/summer . we'll see what happens Clint - UGH.........I will definitely have to get the word out when I am ready to buy!! Right now I'm just getting my hopes up!!! But I guess it doesnt hurt to ask questions to know what I will be up against. on a side note, what exactly do you do if a boat that you want does not have a title in hand by the seller? Can you not obtain one? Is a titleless boat a HUGE red flag that should be avoided? I see a lot of boats on CL that people are up front in stating that there is no title with it.
  21. Well, my thoughts right now about what I want to buy are rather unclear. Not sure if it is wise to buy a boat with carpeting already in it to where I'm set for a good while till I have the cash to upgrade or if its cheaper for me to buy a bare boat that needs work, such as carpet, right off the bat. Im pretty sure I will want carpet at one point............
  22. got mine today!!!
  23. thanks again for the help!!
  24. shoot me now!!
